Abbot Hui Wen and the other temple court heads rushed out of the Shaolin temple to see for themselves if the Demon Buddha successor was truly dead. It was not because abbot Hui Wen did not trust the disciple, it was just that the news was extremely unbelievable.

The Demon Buddha had countless tricks and techniques at his disposal. He even possessed the ability to use the Death Replacement technique. Even the presumably first-rank grandmaster in the Shaolin temple who attacked in secret did not manage to kill the Demon Buddha the first time…

Under these circumstances, how was it possible that he was dead?

Abbot Hui Wen and the temple court heads were doubtful and uncertain when they arrived outside the Shaolin temple and saw Zhen Xing who knelt on the ground.

“Is that the evil traitor disciple?” asked the Luohan Court head. He was dumbfounded.

With the power of his sight, the Luohan Court head could see that Zhen Xing knelt on the ground without signs of injuries. Yet, his lifeforce was completely gone.

He was as dead as a doornail.

“So he’s dead?” Abbot Hui Wen let out a sigh of relief and felt like the pressure that felt like a mountain on his shoulders was lifted. If the Demon Buddha successor was not dead, sooner or later the day he would return.

However, since he was dead, the threat against the Shaolin temple was resolved. At least for the next hundred years, the Shaolin temple could develop in peace without worrying about the threat of the Demon Buddha’s successor.

“What an extremely powerful punch attack aura!” The Martial Arts Court head’s eyes widened in shock when he sensed the aura of the attack that emanated from the body of the Demon Buddha successor. He looked aghast.

As a third-rank martial artist, the Martial Arts Court head saw the cause of death of the Demon Buddha successor.

“A single punch ended his life! What a terrifying punch attack technique!” exclaimed the Precepts Court head when he sensed it as well. The injury that resulted in the death of the Demon Buddha successor was seen from the faint fist imprint that was left on his chest.

That first imprint gave insight into the type of blow that was given. The killing punch was indiscriminate and merciless. It destroyed the spirit, vitality and obliterated the internal organs of the Demon Buddha successor.

“Is this the Luohan Fist technique?” The Luohan Court head looked stunned. He never imagined that the Demon Buddha successor would have died at the hands of the most basic martial arts technique of the Luohan Court.

“What? The Luohan Fist technique?”

The other temple court heads looked dumbfounded.

“It’s the Luohan Fist…” Abbot Hui Wen sighed softly and continued, “It looks like this was the doing of that elder Divine Master Abbot of our temple…”

As soon as he heard the news that the Demon Buddha successor was dead, abbot Hui Wen had a suspicion but he was not certain. That was because if the Shaolin temple did have an elder Divine Master Abbot who was still living, he would have been close to the end of his life. His physical body would have been weak and the previous attack against the Demon Buddha successor should have been his limit.

If that was not the case, then why did the elder Divine Master Abbot not kill the Demon Buddha successor the very first time but choose to act at the very last second?

Yet, with that new development, abbot Hui Wen could not figure it out. He knew everyone in his generation and none of them would have been able to advance to the first-rank. If he considered his elders, the possibilities were extensive. Even being the abbot of the Shaolin temple, he could not bring anyone to mind right away.

“An elder from one of the earlier generations?”

“That’s right, it must be that elder Divine Master Abbot who did it. If not, who else would be able to kill the Demon Buddha successor?”

The temple court heads looked exhilarated. They began to discuss among themselves in low voices.

All at once, the Shaolin temple managed to escape the terror of the Demon Buddha and also discovered that they may have still had an elder Divine Master Abbot who protected the temple.

How could they not have been excited at that news?

However, if the happy court heads knew that the mysterious and powerful elder who defeated the Demon Buddha successor and solved the disaster that befell the temple every hundred years was a lowly temple sweeper, their eyes may have popped out in shock.

The moment the Demon Buddha successor died and the evil intent disappeared, an incomparably dark Demon Shadow suddenly opened its eyes far away in the Rear Mountain of the Shaolin temple.

“That’s interesting. How is it that the evil intent disappeared so quickly this time? That can’t be right! For over 900 years, the Shaolin temple has become weaker and weaker. They don’t even have a first-rank martial artist in this generation,” muttered the Demon Shadow to itself.

“Has some sort of accident occurred?” mumbled the Demon Shadow as it got up and tried to leave. Suddenly, a powerful golden seal instantly enveloped the Demon Shadow. A large amount of black evil energy dissipated and disappeared rapidly were the golden seal made contact with the Demon Shadow.

“D*mn! It’s that blasted seal once again! It’s been 900 years. How long are you going to keep me trapped?” The Demon Shadow burned with rage but it slowly returned to its original position.

“You’ll be free soon! I can sense the power of the seal is wearing off. I just need to wait for it to get a little weaker and I’ll be able to break the seal. When the time comes, I’ll make blood flow like a river in the Shaolin temple!”

As soon as the Demon Shadow finished speaking, its figure vanished into thin air.

After the events of the Demon Buddha successor, the disciples of the Shaolin temple visibly had a heightened sense of urgency. All of them, including the temple court heads, attempted to advance in rank. Each of them hoped to break through into a second-rank.

Of course, Su Qin was not included among them. Su Qin still spent each day sweeping leisurely as though everything that happened had nothing to do with him.

On that day, the Miscellaneous Court head summoned Su Qin. Ten years had passed and the Miscellaneous Court head aged greatly. The wrinkles on his face increased. The journey of martial arts training did not bring eternal life. Even a first-rank martial artist could only delay the speed of the aging process.

“Oh, Zhen Guan. How long have you been in the Shaolin temple?” asked the Miscellaneous Court head suddenly as he stopped what he was doing.

“How long have I been here?” Su Qin paused for a moment before he replied, “It’s been 10 years.”

“That’s true, it’s been ten years!” The Miscellaneous Court head sighed regretfully, “Ten years ago, I hindered your potential by bringing you into the Miscellaneous Court. In the blink of an eye, ten years have gone by…”

Su Qin listened to the Miscellaneous Court head without saying a word.

“You’ve been a temple sweeper for ten years. Do you bear any resentment because of that?” asked the Miscellaneous Court head.

“Resentment?” Su Qin was stunned. He was overjoyed with his current role! How could he bear any resentment for it?

“I’ve never felt any resentment,” replied Su Qin truthfully.

“Humble, calm-headed, unswayed by glory or disgrace.” The Miscellaneous Court head stared at Su Qin before an ironic smile suddenly appeared on his face. “Who would have thought that among this generation of Shaolin temple disciples, the disciple with the most advanced state of mind turned out to be a temple sweeper?”

To be honest, if Su Qin was a 50 or 60-year-old man, the Miscellaneous Court head would not have been surprised by his answer. However, Su Qin was not. The years between 10 and 20 years old were the most precious ten years for a person. For him to have spent it on sweeping the floors and to labor with nothing to show for it, anyone else in his position would have felt some resentment or regret.

That should have been even more true in one of the greatest martial arts sects of the world, the Shaolin temple. The ability to train and learn powerful martial arts techniques was close at hand, yet all Su Qin did was sweep the floors…

That kind of lost opportunity was enough to make any person go crazy but not Su Qin. At least the Miscellaneous Court head could not detect any trace of dissatisfaction in Su Qin’s expression.

In that aspect alone, Su Qin could beat all the geniuses in the Luohan Court and the Martial Arts Court. Even among the temple court heads, there were some of them whose mind states could not compete with Su Qin.

“You must be mistaken, temple court head. I’m only a temple sweeper. I don’t understand what you mean by state of mind,” responded Su Qin right away.
