Chapter 57 – Cookie
Lila laughed inwardly, it didn’t take much to convince him. She took out a warmly wrapped cookie from her basket and handed it to the guard.
“I baked these myself, so have it when you’re hungry.”
“What a treat … thank you, madame.” The guard was once again in awe at how angelic she was. He was glad that someone like her was to become the future duchess.
Lila walked past the entrance and watched the Knights’ training space as she passed by.
I should practice using rings here next time. She thought.
She wanted to repeat the exercise of placing rings in the pistol to explain the process to Hir. She was willing to teach him a form of self-defense since the original storyline had changed so much. Things were beginning to become unpredictable and she wouldn’t forgive herself if Hir got into trouble.
‘Since the original storyline has strayed, no one knows what will happen next. Hir will have to form rings in case of unexpected danger.
A snowy white ring flying near her face broke through her thought process, startling her at the same time. She immediately recognized it as Lugar’s ring. Lila turned to him and saw him jumping and waving at her like a child, as soon as their eyes met he remembered his manners and bowed to her. Lila was about to wave back when she realized that someone was sneaking up behind him menacingly.

Lila heard the hit from where she was standing, she knew that it must have hurt.
“Ouch! What was that for?!” He wailed clutching his head from the pain.
“Why did you stop your training?” demanded Roxana with her arms crossed.
Just then Roxanna noticed the future Duchess standing and approached her immediately.
“Sorry madam I didn’t see you, How can we help you, madame?”
Lila brought up her basket “I baked cookies and thought I would share them with all of you.”
Roxana’s eyes widened, and she couldn’t hide her smile. “Cookies?”
“Roxana, do you like them?”
“I love them.” She answered honestly.
“They’re chocolate.”
“I salute you.” Roxana raised her hand to a salute and Lugar came hurrying over at all the commotion.
“Woah! The basket’s full, and they look amazing.”
“It’s only a hobby, and I do this often because Hir likes them.”
“So, the young master likes them too! that’s nice.”
Lila scratched her head. “Too?”
She had a glimmer of hope. Could that mean that Lacias loves sweets as well? That’s relieving.
“We all like sweets, but our master hates them. So we rarely have a chance to eat such sweet-smelling cookies.” Said Roxanna, darkening Lila’s glimmer.
“Lacias doesn’t like sweets?”
“He hates them and will order us to remove any that come in sight.”
“Well.” She only assumed that he might like it because he had given her hot chocolate. However, she now realized that she made the wrong decision. What should she do with all these cookies?
“May I have one?” Lila thought Lugar’s question was timely and slowly nodded.
“Yes, since I baked them for you, share it among the knights.”
“Really?”
Roxana’s face brightened but suddenly became cautious. “However … Can we have them all? Shouldn’t our master have some?”
Lila shook her head as she replied. “I have something else to give him, so don’t worry.”
“Ah! Then it will be an honor to eat them. Thank you, Madam.”
Roxana hugged the basket in glee, and Lila thought she would make something else for Lacias. Since Roxana and Lugar were Hir’s future allies, she did not mind them having the cookies.

Lacias was signing the documents with an indifferent face when he felt the presence of someone very important to him.
“Lila?”
He felt her ring along with Lugar’s, Lacias stood up without any hesitation and looked down towards the training area.
Is she here? He thought as he hurried downstairs.
Lugar was still munching on a delicious cookie when he hid it at the sight of Lacias. “Master?”
Lacias nodded in reply and continued searching.
“Master, what brings you here?”
“Lila seemed to have come.” He replied, cutting to the chase.
“Yes, she just left actually.”
Lacias’ eyes went cold, and Lugar held his breath as he faced the freezing gaze.
“What? She went … without seeing me?”
“Yes. You weren’t informed?”
Lugar quickly thought things had gone to hell fast. Why did he have to be the one who was standing near the entrance of the mansion?
“No one reported anything to me.”
Lacias’ gaze remained on Lugar, and the knight was feeling ominous.
“The guard must be playing around, and I will call on him at once!” Yelled Lugar trying to redeem himself.
Lugar made a show of scolding the guard and stepped back since this was his last chance to escape. However, Roxana was rushing toward Lacias with a cookie in her hand.
“Master! Madame is amazing!”
Lugar shook his head with all his might at Roxana, but she did not seem to even recognize his presence. She continued while he drew a big X with his arms.
“You had some, too, right? Even if they’re sweets, she has made them!”
Oh, God … Lugar closed his eyes.
“Everyone training ate them, and they are all in love!” Roxana continued bragging.
The entire space cooled down, and Lugar barely managed to turn his head. “Cookie … ?”
Mortal fear rolled in waves as Lacias’ cold eyes were fixed on Lugar.

Rings are form of energies. It comes in different forms for each character, others may take creative forms such as butterfly. It’s called a Ring as it comes from the hand literally. Inexperienced ring users uses pistol to summon their rings. The more experienced they are, the more rings they are able to produce.
Shadows are people who uses distorted rings which are called “Holes.” Rings such as these are colorless. They attach to other people’s rings and sap its energy to gain power.
