Little Peasant Wife - Chapter 2

Upon hearing this, Xun Ziyu gave a cold snort, arranged the sleeve of his robe, and turned his back to Liu Jin.

“Never mind! Since you are on the way to Yellow Springs*, I will tell you the truth. I have never been sincere to you. When I was in Meiyuan County, although I was bestowed Jin shi**, but my family was extremely poor. No official willing to recommend me. I’m so talented but I can’t displayed it…”

*黄泉路(Huáng quán lù); the underworld of Chinese mythology; the equivalent of Hades or Hell.

** 进士(jìn shì); successful candidate in the highest imperial civil service examination; palace graduate

Hearing this, Liu Jin felt her heart gone cold. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, cutting off his words: “So you took advantage of me?”

“That’s right!” Xun Ziyu turned and smiled, “Who told you to be a wealthy party in Meiyuan County at that time? As long as I marry you, would I still afraid that there is no money to please the Prefectural Magistrate? I thought you were arrogant and extremely difficult to pursue. Who would had thought, you fell in love with me at first sight, plus your innocent mind unable to stand my sweet words, ai*! I didn’t expect that in less than half a year, you would be convinced by me, which made me really unfulfilled!”

*哎(āi); interjection used to attract attention or to express surprise or disapprobation

When saying the last sentence, he deliberately dragged his voice, staring at Liu Jin’s face quietly.

Liu Jin’s face was as pale as paper, how could she be so stupid.

This man was calculating her from the beginning, yet she thought that he really liked her, so she agreed to marry him.

Seeing Liu Jin’s face, the corner of Xun Ziyu’s mouth raised in a sneer: “My Jin’er, there is one more thing you would never thought that I did it. If you knew it, I’m afraid you would hate me even more.”

Liu Jin was startled, he was doing this to her already, what else could make her hate him more than cheating on her feelings?

“What is it?” Liu Jin asked as she looked at Xun Ziyu in despair, sorrow penetrating her soul.

Xun Ziyu asked, “Do you still remember our children?”

When Liu Jin heard that, her pupils suddenly shrank, and her lips trembled and said, “You did it!”

“Yes, I deliberately let the physician prescribe medicine to get rid of the child, not because of a miscarriage.” Xun Ziyu said with a calm look, as if the unborn child had nothing to do with him.

“Why? Why?”

Liu Jin roared frantically, her eyes were red, and there was hatred at the bottom of her eyes.

Was this person really her husband?

No! He was not.

He was a demon, a demon who won’t even let off of an unborn child.

“That’s our child! Even if you dislike me, the child is innocent.”

After she finished speaking, her heart abruptly throbbed, and the fishy sweetness in her throat could no longer hold back. It sprayed out with a puchi*.

*噗嗤 is an internet term. Generally speaking, it is the sound made after hearing a particularly happy and funny voice, or it means chuckle or snigger or puff/pfff(sound of someone sprayed out a mouthful of water. In Liu Jin’s case, sprayed/vomit blood.

Seeing Liu Jin vomiting blood, Xun Ziyu didn’t have a trace of pain or guilt in his heart. He said in disgust: “Because the birth of that child will affect my career as an official.”

At this moment, Liu Jin completely woke up. It turned out that in his eyes, his wife and children were both tools for his career as an official. Once he finished taking advantage, he then threw them  away and killed.

How ruthless and cold-blooded he was!

Suddenly, Liu Jin got up from the ground, pulled out the hairpin on her head and stabbed Xun Ziyu.

“Xun Ziyu, I’m going to kill you to avenge my child.” Liu Jin said fiercely.

Xun Ziyu snorted coldly. He had already been bitten by her before. How could he give her a second chance to hurt him.

He hurriedly evaded his body, raised his hand to knock out the hairpin in her hand, and kicked her in the abdomen.

Peng, the hairpin fell to the ground and instantly shattered, and Liu Jin’s heart had broken just like this hairpin.

She fell to the ground in pain, rolling several times before stopping.

Liu Jin spat out another mouthful of blood and lay motionless on the ground.

Her face tightly pasted against the cold ground, but the coldness of the ground was not as cold as the one in her heart.

“Xun Ziyu, you are going to die a miserable death.” Liu Jin stared at him viciously, her eyes like a sword, as if she wanted to cut him a thousand times.

When Xun Ziyu heard it, a cold light appeared in his eyes, and suddenly he laughed wildly: “Haha, I die a miserable death, I think you are the one who die a miserable death, I am very good ne. Do you still remember the “Closed Book”* that I asked you to write from memory? With that Closed Book, my career will go to the next level.”

*无字天书(wú zì tiānshū); Wordless Book of Heaven. There are soooo many description about this words I found in NU forum thread. I’m choosing “Closed Book” because this novel isn’t about cultivation(I think so(?). Anyway, I will using this words for now. Liu Jin was startled, what did he mean?

It was a pity that Xun Ziyu had no intention of telling her, he didn’t want to be entangled with  her anymore, he turned around and said, “Come here!”

Upon hearing this, the old servant immediately pushed in with two men, one of whom was holding a wooden box in his hand.

“I’ll leave it to you here.” Xun Ziyu ordered.

After that, he turned and left without even looking at Liu Jin.

The old servant winked at the two men, and they quickly walked to Liu Jin, took out the white silk from the wooden box and wrapped it around her neck.

“Xun Ziyu, I won’t let you off even if I become a ghost.” Liu Jin cried and howled bitterly.

The two men looked at each other, nodded, and with a pull, Liu Jin died.

    ……

Inside a dilapidated thatched house in Qingshui Village, Meiyuan County, Lingyang Region.

Liu Jin lifted her heavy eyelids and looked at the moldy roof.

Her heart was full of astonishment, where was this? Didn’t she die already?

She looked around, and when she saw the furnishings in the room, she was shocked.

This was her home when she hasn’t getting married!

Why was she back again!

At this moment, a woman in ragged clothes slowly walked in with a cracked porcelain bowl.

“Jin’er, you wake up, come and drink this millet porridge.” Luo shi * said warmly, her face full of love.

*氏(Shì); clan name/maiden name

Liu Jin looked at Luo Shi without blinking her eyes. This was her mother…

But, didn’t her mother die when she was fourteen?

Suddenly, some old events flashed in her brain, which matched the scene before him.

Suddenly, Liu Jin’s tears poured out like a dam burst because of flood.

She abruptly got up and hugged Luo Shi‘s waist. It was great, she was reborn.

“Mother, I thought I would never see you again in this life.”

Liu Jin choked and said, her arms around Luo Shi  become tighter, she was afraid that all this was a dream, as long as she let go, her mother would disappear.

Luo Shi listened and raised his hand to touch Liu Jin’s head: “Silly girl, you just caught a cold last night, you won’t leave me.”

Liu Jin nodded, tears still streaming down.

Luo Shi persuaded: “Jin’er, quickly drink this bowl of millet porridge.”

Liu Jin took the bowl and drank the millet porridge bit by bit.

Just finished drinking, a cursing sounded from outside the house.

“Luo Xiaolan, get out of here.”

When Luo Shi heard this, her whole body trembled and said: “Jin’er, take a good rest, your grandma is here again, I’ll go out and have a look.”

With that, Luo Shi turned around to leave.

Liu Jin’s brain buzzed, remembering something suddenly, she hurriedly jumped off the bed and pull Luo Shi‘s arm.

“Mother, you can’t go, I’ll go.”

She remembered that in her previous life, it was today. Her mother was pushed into the water tank by Yang Shi‘s. She suffered a cold and had no money to see a doctor.

Since God has allowed her to be reborn, then she will never let the things of the previous life happen. She must take good care of Luo Shi and live a good life with Luo Shi.

“Jin’er, your body is still not well, go to bed quickly.” Luo Shi said anxiously when Liu Jin stepped on the cold ground with bare feet.

Liu Jin refused: “Mother, stay in the house and don’t come out.”

As she spoke, she hurried to the bed and put on her coat, put on her shoes and ran out.

When she came to the door, a spring breeze blew by, causing her to shiver involuntarily.

“Grandma, you are here!” Liu Jin walked up to Yang Shi and shouted faintly.

Yang Shi glanced at Liu Jin with a pair of triangular eyes, and said disdainfully: “Where is your mother, let her come out.”

“My mother is not at home, if you have things just tell me is the same.” Liu Jin lied.

“You stupid little girl, how old are you, already learned to lie, do you think this Lao Niang* is deaf? Lao Niang heard Luo Xiaolan talking just now.” Yang Shi said angrily.

*老娘(Lǎoniáng); I, this old woman. Also means my old mother, my old lady (colloquial), maternal, grandmother, midwife.

The summary said Liu Jin was poisoned to d but she was choke to die here??! (‘・ω・’)?
