The lady boss gave a warm chuckle, and her smile looked as peaceful as ever. “If you are bored, you can read some books. This way, time passes faster.”
The lady boss returned to the book house, and Shen Youran lazily opened the book to read it while occasionally taking a few sips of her coffee.
However, it was almost lunchtime, yet she still had not seen Ji Jinchuan and He Zimin.
Qiu Shaoze came back. Upon seeing that there was a cup of coffee on the table, he picked it up as he wanted to drink it. However, she said, “I drank from it before.”
He did not seem to care and said, “It’s not like you have a virus or something.” After saying that, he took a huge gulp and put it back to its original place. “I’ve returned it to you.”
Shen Youran was made speechless by his actions and looked at the cup in disdain. After all, she was not in the habit of sharing cups with other people. “You can have it.”
Qiu Shaoze happily accepted it as he happened to be very thirsty and this cup of coffee would be a good way to quench his thirst.
He placed his camera in front of Shen Youran as though he was showing off his treasure and said in a gloating tone of voice, “The scenery is so beautiful here! After the resort is constructed, I must come here for a vacation.”
Shen Youran closed the book in her hands. Just as she was about to say, “Not bad — when that time comes, please remember to count me in,” she raised her head and saw Ji Jinchuan and He Zimin on the chain bridge while they were slowly walking over.
She used her head to signal Qiu Shaoze to look over. They waited until they had crossed the bridge and immediately went forward to them. “President Ji, Mayor He.”
Ji Jinchuan saw that there was a camera around Qiu Shaoze’s neck. His gaze darkened while a hint of displeasure could be seen on his handsome face.
After being complained about by the nearby citizens due to the construction of the Chengnan Resort, the Zhong Sheng Corporation was going through difficult times at present. Yet, upon seeing that Qiu Shaoze had a camera on him, Ji Jinchuan thought that he was a paparazzi from a random press agency.
Shen Youran saw that something was not right and immediately took two steps forward. She took out a voice recorder and said to He Zimin, “Mayor He, we are from the ME Magazine Agency. We heard that you are going to be promoted to Deputy Governor and would like to interview you. May I know if you are free now?”
He Zimin slightly furrowed his eyebrows and did not stop walking. “Sorry, but I don’t accept interviews from magazine agencies.”
She had already started the voice recorder and was thoroughly prepared. “We will not take too much of your time. Please give us a chance to interview you.”
He Zimin widened his footsteps and ignored her. Just as she was about to chase after him, He Zimin’s secretary put his hand out to block her.
Upon looking at He Zimin’s departing figure, she anxiously shouted, “Mayor He, please give us a chance!”
Even after He Zimin and Ji Jinchuan had left, Shen Youran and Qiu Shaoze were still waiting at the original place.
Although they finally got a chance to talk to He Zimin today, they still did not complete their mission. As such, both of them wore a depressing expression on their faces.
After they exited the resort, Shen Youran used settling personal matters as an excuse to let Qiu Shaoze return to the city first while she continued waiting under a tree at the roadside.
Ji Jinchuan and He Zimin used their own cars to return to the hotel. When Xiao Cheng drove the car out of the car park, Ji Jinchuan got in the car and massaged his temples while he leaned against the chair. He asked, “How did she get into the resort?”
Upon hearing Ji Jinchuan’s question, Xiao Cheng whispered, “Ms. Shen called you just now and I answered it. I was the one who let her in.”
Ji Jinchuan fished out his phone to look at his call history, and she indeed had called him before. He put his phone back into his pocket and leaned against the chair while he closed his eyes to rest.
Xiao Cheng had driven the car for a distance when a person suddenly popped out of nowhere and blocked their car. Luckily, he had a fast reaction and stepped on the brakes in time.
Ji Jinchuan, who was sitting at the back seat, steadied his body by supporting himself with the front seat. He knitted his brow. “What happened?”
