Joy’s words calmed Chi Wan down. Deep down, she laughed sardonically.

The company was doing damage control for her. Since when had the senior management become so compassionate?

“Fine.”

Before she left, Chi Wan glanced at her aunt, Chi Ling and wanted to say something. However, as soon she noticed the gloating expression on her aunt’s face, Chi Wan decided against it.

Relatives meant nothing to her!

Now, without Huo Tianye, she was on her own.

On the way to Chi Wan’s employer, Dong Yu Entertainment, Joy placed a dossier on her lap.

“Memorize this carefully. You’ve good acting skills and you can convince others to believe your speech.”

Chi Wan opened the folder and the contents appeared before her eyes. She scanned through the sheets and her expression altered at once.

“No, I won’t say that!”

Joy had a hunch that Chi Wan would say that. He fished out a tablet and made a video call.

“Tell the boss yourself!”

Chi Wan took the tablet and saw the luxurious yet refined office on the screen. A tall, lanky man dressed in a silver suit was seated comfortably on a couch and his side profile was facing the webcam.

From the side, his features seemed sharp. He had a high nose bridge and tender, rose-colored lips which made him look seductive.

In spite of the tons of handsome men and beautiful women in showbiz, he was considered to be the most attractive.

Supposing Chi Wan never saw his frontal profile, she would still have held onto this belief.

“Chi Wan.”

The man spoke. His voice had a subtle huskiness that made him sound flirtatious, despite the serious matters that he was talking about.

“Do what the senior management tells you to. Bai Hua Best Actress Award, Jin Xiang Best Actress Award… I can give you whatever you want.

“If you don’t do so, believe me, you’ll be dead.”

As soon as the man uttered his last word, the video call ended.

The weight of the word “dead” spoken by him in such a nonchalant fashion still lingered in the car and haunted her.

Chi Wan went pale. She knew that she would be in the doghouse if she declined to do what she had been told. Her reputation would be torn to shreds and her future would be finished.

However, little did she expect that the outcome of her rejection would be death!

She never doubted the truth of his words as he spoke in such a cold and ruthless manner as if he could crush her like a worthless ant.

“Chi Wan, you’re a smart person. Your stairway to fame is right in front of you. I presume you know what’s best for you.”

Joy’s eyes glimmered with excitement. If Chi Wan agreed to the boss’ demands, not only would she become famous, but her manager would get rich along with her.

Chi Wan remained silent for a very, very long time until they reached the entrance to the press conference. Joy was beginning to get impatient when she finally spoke.

“Understood.”

Joy was at ease now.

“Young Master Mu, will Chi Wan agree?” In the office which appeared on the screen just now, a person with the look of an assistant asked anxiously.

The charming man lit a cigarette. The dancing blue flame illuminated the sparkle of delight in his pair of enchanting eyes.

He replied wantonly, “No woman would be able to resist that temptation, and no woman would dare to resist the price to pay after that.”

That woman would agree to it. He firmly believed in this.

A calm Chi Wan, accompanied by a flock of bodyguards, arrived at the venue of the press conference via the back door.

“Have you memorized those words?” Joy asked her again.

“Mm.”

“Good, we’re going in!
