It’s Not Too Late To Love You - Chapter 59

No doubt, Wen Mo was disappointed when he realized how blatant her rejection was.

Chi Wan noticed the nonchalance in his words and was even more certain that he was being insincere.

“You don’t need three days. In fact, I can give you an answer now. Wen Mo, don’t pull my leg again. We come from two different worlds, and it’s impossible for us to be together. You’re a wealthy and influential trust fund baby, and I’m just a regular girl. I can’t stand getting screwed around by people in your social circles.”

Wen Mo began to breathe heavily, and his eyes widened.

He regarded the woman before him with disbelief.

Was he that sort of a person in her eyes?

A trust fund baby who screwed around with women…

Wen Mo’s dark, gentle gaze narrowed as he pressed his thin lips together to form a hard line.

Meanwhile, a sound resounded in the air, which interrupted the tension in the room.

“Young… Young Master… I’m back… Something important…”

Qin Yu reappeared and glanced at Chi Wan with a complicated expression.

“How’s the investigation coming along?” Wen Mo asked him wanly.

“I’ve just been informed that those thugs were sent by Lin Ya. As for the person who texted us and told us that Miss Chi would be in danger, there’s no way to identify them for now. I have a hunch that that person might be Huo Tianye. After all, he, Lin Ya, and… Miss Chi have particular ties.”

“Huo Tianye?” Chi Wan gasped silently.

Speak of the devil. Her phone suddenly rang and the caller was Huo Tianye!

She exhaled and answered the call.

“Lil Wan, why aren’t you here yet?” Huo Tianye’s anxious voice sounded from the other end of the line.

Chi Wan’s eyes sparkled as she let out a cold laugh. “Are you sure I’ll be able to make it in time?”

She was trying to test what role he played in this set-up.

Huo Tianye sounded puzzled. “What do you mean? The crew members are all here and we’re waiting for you!”

Chi Wan gave up. She nearly forgot that Best Actor Huo was exceptionally skilled in his craft. It would be a miracle for her to test him.

“Something has come up on my side. Please apologize to the director on my behalf. That’s all.”

Then, she hung up.

After that, she overheard Wen Mo’s conversation with Qin Yu. “I don’t need hunches. Just tell me whether or not Huo Tianye is involved.”

Qin Yu frowned. “It’s a bit strange for him to treat the entire crew to dinner out of the blue, but aside from that, there’s nothing to indicate his involvement.”

Wen Mo finally replied, “Understood.”

Qin Yu looked at Chi Wan, and asked, “How should we handle this matter?”

Wen Mo responded, “Find out about that man who killed himself earlier. Don’t leave any clues behind.”

That man failed at abducting Chi Wan, and his failure would not necessarily cost him his life. Yet, he committed suicide without a moment’s hesitation.

He was the only one with a gun. The other men sent by Lin Ya were merely insignificant hooligans, and they used low-quality bats as weapons.

“Yes, Young Master!”

Wen Mo calmly relayed his order, “Let Ah Qing take care of Lin Ya’s case.”

Qin Yu heard this and said a silent prayer for Lin Ya.

He was Second Young Master’s special assistant who often showed up by the former’s side publicly and dealt with tasks related to M Corporation.

On the other hand, Ah Qing was a mysterious figure who worked for Second Young Master in the dark and did the dirty work.

Regardless of gender, whoever fell into his hands faced only one outcome…

A life that was worse than death.

“As for Hai Tian Corporation…”

Wen Mo remembered how Chi Wan shielded him from danger, and a murderous intent flashed across his gaze. “I’ll drop by personally.”
