It’s Not Too Late To Love You - Chapter 54

Huo Tianye would never put Chi Wan in danger.

‘Lil Wan, hang in there, it won’t be long…’

Lin Ya snorted. “Don’t worry, I won’t let her die easily!”

She had been given an earful by her father and was forbidden to set foot in showbiz again. It was all Chi Wan’s fault!

Die? Not so fast!

She continued, “I heard Wen Mo would be leaving Beijing at 8 p.m. tonight. I wouldn’t have dared to do this if he wasn’t leaving.”

Huo Tianye narrowed his eyes. “Understood. Ok, you’ll handle the rest.”

“Tianye, I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Huo Tianye crooned tenderly, but there was no emotion displayed on his charming face.

He hung up and slid his slender fingers across the phone’s surface.

He looked up a number and sent a message.

Huo Tianye then kept his phone, placed both hands in his pants pockets, and departed.

He did not notice a figure who passed by swiftly in a dark corner far behind him.

Inside the brightly-lit office, Mu Yunshen listened to his subordinate’s report, tutted, and snapped his fingers loudly.

“Wen Zi.”

A tall, thin man came forward. “Anything, Young Master Mu?”

“Plant someone from our side among Lin Ya’s people to assist with her mission.”

“Are you going to do something to Chi Wan?”

“No, it’s to give me a chance to get rid of Wen Mo.”

The man was bewildered. He silently listened to Mu Yunshen’s plan and nodded. “Yes, I understand.”

“Huo Tianye’s fine. He’s a scheming fellow, I like it. Cover his traces and let him finish his job.” Mu Yunshen smiled knowingly. “At the moment, I’m unable to meet Wen Mo face to face, so I shall let our man take my place for the time being.”

Mu Yunshen lit a cigarette and thought of Chi Wan’s enchanting little face. Before Wen Zi left, he added, “Don’t harm her.”

Wen Zi was taken aback. “Alright.”

Chi Wan drove towards her destination, cruising on the empty road.

For some reason, this place gave her the creeps…

Bang!

One of her tires had been punctured and the hissing sound of air could be heard.

Realizing that the car was about to skid, Chi Wan slammed on the brakes immediately.

With a frown, she got down to inspect and noticed that the ground had been scattered with thumbtacks!

Air was leaking out of the tire, which made her unable to drive further.

She observed her surroundings as the cool breeze caressed her body. Relying on the pale moonlight, she saw the empty road and the trees waving in the darkness…

It was very dangerous for a woman to be alone under such circumstances. She quickly took out her phone but discovered, to her dismay, that there was no signal at all!

This area might be a bit remote, but it was still located within the city center. Why did she fail to pick up a signal?

Unless…

Somebody had used a signal jammer!

Chi Wan became alert at once. What occurred today was not a mere accident.

She could not stay here any longer and must leave now!

Yet, it was too late.

As soon as Chi Wan turned around, she was blinded by the piercing headlamps of a car!

A small car was apparently parked quietly behind her…

When Chi Wan saw it, she ran as fast as her legs could carry her. The car began to move at the same time. The engine roared to life and the car zoomed towards her!

Humans could not outrun a car. Moreover, Chi Wan was a woman.

She was soon out of stamina, and two men jumped out of the car and caught up with her!
