It’s Not Too Late To Love You - Chapter 44

“You money-minded businessman, get lost!” Rong Xi threw a glance at Gu Xicheng with contempt before turning to Chi Wan and behaved like a dog wagging its tail. “My money… Is only for my Goddess.”

Gu Xicheng jeered, “Profit is eternal in this world. Women are just clothing.”

Rong Xi snorted. “Yeah right, you change your clothes all the time and you never know which piece of clothing has been worn. You don’t think it’s dirty!”

Gu Xicheng raised an eyebrow and glanced at Wen Mo. “Still, that’s better than a certain someone who has wasted his opportunities to have fun for twenty-five years.”

Psshhhttt!

Rong Xi nearly spat out a mouthful of liquor and followed Gu Xicheng’s gaze towards Wen Mo.

“Brother Mo, is that true?”

Chi Wan heard that and pouted. She refused to believe Wen Mo was some chaste, holy man.

Wen Mo merely eyed Rong Xi blandly. “You’re still little. In the future, you’d better stay away from a jerk like Third Elder Brother Gu.”

“I ain’t little anymore! I’m already twenty this year!” Rong Xi protested.

Gu Xicheng looked at a particular area on Rong Xi’s body gloatingly. “Don’t you understand how little you are?”

“F*ck you! You’re bullying me because I’m still a virgin!”

Rong Xi stamped his feet in anger. He suddenly thought of something. Then, he regarded Chi Wan with his big, round eyes and became fidgety.

He said shyly, “Goddess, can I give my virginity to you… After that, you can just send me a WeChat Red Packet[1]. I promise it’s really cheap.”

Chi Wan was at a complete loss for words.

Gu Xicheng was tickled by Rong Xi’s remark.

Even Wen Mo was infuriated by Rong Xi. “Lil Bai, stop fooling around.”

The four of them sat on the sofa. Chi Wan remained silent, while Wen Mo had always been a man of a few words.

If it was not for Rong Xi’s amusing interjections, the atmosphere would have been extremely awkward.

“Chi Wan, I apologize for what happened last time.”

Unexpectedly, Gu Xicheng passed a glass of liquor to Chi Wan and raised his eyebrows. “Drink this and we shall forget about the whole incident.”

Chi Wan frowned. She had a hunch that this fellow was insincere in his apology.

He was trying to stir up trouble. In other words, he was picking a bone with her.

She had a low tolerance for alcohol and would get drunk with just one glass of liquor. Unfortunately, the liquor offered by Gu Xicheng had very high alcohol content.

A look of annoyance flashed across Wen Mo’s face. “She can’t hold her liquor.”

Gu Xicheng tutted. “I’m here to apologize to her personally. Your girlfriend will give me face, won’t she?”

Before Wen Mo could continue, a slim, fair arm proffered itself and accepted the glass!

Chi Wan arched her slender, swan-like neck and downed every single drop of the amber-colored liquid in the glass.

The spicy flavor spread down her throat and the heat nearly caused tears to stream down her cheeks.

She suppressed the urge to let that happen and returned a wan smile. Subsequently, she placed the empty glass down in front of Gu Xicheng.

Eyeing the empty glass, he was taken aback before he let out a grin. “Excellent, I admire your candor.”

Chi Wan started to feel dizzy and did not speak after that.

Gu Xicheng looked down on her. She did not like him at all either. She only accepted his drink so that Wen Mo would not feel bad.

She had troubled him enough today. Understandably, she should not inconvenience him anymore.

Wen Mo regarded Gu Xicheng with narrowed eyes. The latter shrugged and put on an innocent expression as if he was saying “What did I do wrong?”

What was wrong if he simply did not like Chi Wan?

“Xicheng, it’s the second time now.”

Gu Xicheng heard this and stopped smiling. He knew perfectly well what Wen Mo meant by his remark.
