Gu Xicheng was even more frustrated when he thought of this!

Was he, Wen Mo’s sworn brother, less important than some lowly woman?

The fleeting darkness in his gaze did not escape Wen Mo’s eagle eyes.

Wen Mo growled intimidatingly, “Chi Wan’s already my woman, and I won’t allow anyone to smear her.”

His soft, handsome features were cloaked with a cloud of gloominess. He straightened his suit and threw a sideways glance at Gu Xicheng. “That includes you as well.”

Once he finished his piece, he strode out of the private room without looking back.

“Third Elder Brother Gu! If you insult my Goddess again, I’m gonna kill you! Goddamn it, I don’t have anything, but I have money! I can take your life away using money alone!”

Rong Xi imitated Wen Mo.

“Get lost!”

Gu Xicheng did not look at him. He slumped onto the sofa and continued to drink.

Rong Xi rolled his eyes, then ran outside too.

He had finally met his dream girl, but this foul-mouthed scumbag had to ruin it all!

Chi Wan walked along the river. The chilly wind blew at her, messing her hair up in the process.

The wind caused her eyes to tear up unconsciously, but she forced her tears back.

She told herself that the particles in the air irritated her eyes.

Chi Wan strolled casually, failing to notice the sports car that followed her discreetly in the distance.

The supposedly respectable and stoic man in the car had a lit up cigarette between his fingers now. He fixed his gaze on the woman bracing herself against the opposing wind. From time to time, he would lift his hand and take two puffs.

Chi Wan seemed like a fragile lily with her hair being blown in the wind as she walked along the riverbank.

All these while, Wen Mo’s heart was as carefree as the wind. He had never got attached to anyone.

However, every time he passed by the quiet Chi Wan, he would always stand still… either unintentionally or out of plain curiosity.

Recalling the way home, Chi Wan walked back to her apartment. Her head hung low and her long hair covered her face. Nobody recognized that she was a celebrity.

When she arrived at the door to her apartment, she felt a name card in her pocket as she was about to take her keys out.

It was given to her by Wen Mo last time.

She sighed, took out her phone, wrote a brief text and sent it to the number on the name card.

Wen Mo, who was still in his car, heard a vibration. He got out his phone and opened the new message.

[Let’s break up earlier. —— by Chi Wan]

The hopeful glow in Wen Mo’s serene gaze disappeared. He squeezed his phone until his knuckles turned white and popped. One could imagine the amount of strength he used in doing so.

His custom-made phone was crushed and distorted under the pressure.

When he came to his senses and intended to reply to the message, the phone could no longer be used.

Wen Mo tossed it to the backseat emotionlessly, started the car and drove away.

Chi Wan felt as if a burden had been lifted off her chest after the text was sent.

A huge gap was not the only thing that stood between Wen Mo and her.

They came from vastly different worlds. It was very hard to go on, even though it was all an act.

Both of them had put on a convincing performance today. It would likely keep the media warm for the next ten days or so.

She decided that she would reveal the news about their break-up once the excitement had worn off.

“Sister Wan, are you back?”

Yun Shanshan heard the door open and rushed to greet Chi Wan.

Chi Wan stared at her apartment which was now tidier and cleaner than that of a 5-star hotel. She almost thought that she had entered the wrong apartment!

“Hehe, the apartment was a bit messy, so I did some cleaning for you. Please don’t scold me for misplacing your stuff!”

Yun Shanshan felt unsure of herself.

“Why would I scold you? I should thank you.” Chi Wan smiled. “Auntie said you don’t have a place to stay. If you’re up for it, you can stay with me.”
