Irresistible Love: Master Shen’s Quest to Charm His Lady - Chapter 42

Xiao Ye sat cross-legged in a chair, staring in amusement at the person who had almost fallen out of bed in shock.

Xiao Jing glared at the man who had appeared suddenly without giving any prior notice. “What are you doing here again?” she asked angrily.

“I heard that there was going to be a match today, so I intended to check it out. However, I hadn’t expected you to be this weak and so easily taken out by the devil incarnate. Seriously, though, what I want to know, is how you managed to convince yourself to do it?”

Xiao Jing was silent in response.

“Most people don’t even dare to get close to him, so how did you muster enough courage to kiss him on the mouth?”

“That was just an accident. Besides, we didn’t kiss,” Xiao Jing answered while looking away shiftily.

Xiao Ye smacked his lips and laughed heartily. “If not for the fact that we grew up together, I would have thought you had something to hide. Look how bashful you are. It is as if you are his little wife. I can’t help but wonder whether you have already fallen in love with the devil incarnate.”

“I think the Commander was right about you being idiotic!”

Xiao Ye was shocked into silence.

“Please show yourself out if you are done talking,” said Xiao Jing, as she climbed back into bed.

Xiao Ye made no move to leave. Instead, he leaned closer to Xiao Jing, and fixed his intense gaze on her, a broad grin on his face.

Perturbed by the weird look in Xiao Ye’s eyes, Xiao Jing turned the other way to avoid eye contact with him. “What else do you want to say?” Xiao Jing tried her best to sound serious.

“Why did you kiss the devil incarnate?” Xiao Ye could barely hide the gleeful expression on his face as he asked the question.

Pushing him away, Xiao Jing answered furiously, “I already told you that it was an accident. Bodily contact is inevitable during combat. Did you think I would, as a man, deliberately kiss the Commander?”

“Yeah, okay. You have a point. I figured it wouldn’t be that convoluted. After all, there were so many people present. I don’t think you would have resorted to such intimate behavior in public just to get close to him.”

“Scram,” Xiao Jing finally lost her patience and could not stop herself from swinging a fist at Xiao Ye, despite knowing that she was no match for him. Sure enough, Xiao Ye caught her fist without any difficulty.

Xiao Ye taunted Xiao Jing as he held on to her wrist. “The devil incarnate must have gone easy on you. Based on your capabilities, I’m surprised that you’re only slightly injured and didn’t end up getting all your limbs broken.”

“Are you disappointed to see that I’m still whole and intact?” Xiao Jing spat.

“I’m just amazed that after what you did to that devil incarnate in public, he didn’t fly into a rage and kill you on the spot,” replied Xiao Ye as he stroked his chin. He was looking at Xiao Jing with a bemused expression on his face.

“What are you trying to say?” Xiao Jing asked with a scowl. It was pretty evident by now that Xiao Ye wasn’t done talking.

“He seems to treat you pretty well,” mused Xiao Ye. He then let out a deep sigh, saying, “I warned you that the devil incarnate would have impure thoughts, but you didn’t believe me. He’s picking on you, isn’t he?”

Xiao Jing stared daggers at Xiao Ye, wishing she could punch him as if he were a sandbag.

“People always say that a grown girl can’t be kept at home. I never expected that it would be the same for my elder brother. Are you attracted to Shen Chengfeng because he is tall and muscular? Or perhaps because he is handsome and sophisticated?”

Xiao Jing immediately pulled off the blanket and sent a vicious kick his way, even though her legs were feeling pretty sore. The unbridled fury propelled her and diminished the pain that she felt from the fight earlier.

Xiao Ye grabbed Xiao Jing’s leg and pulled her so hard that she fell off the bed. He subdued Xiao Jing without any difficulty, practically twisting her into a ball. “I won’t go easy on you like Shen Chengfeng did. Don’t you dare attack me with those half-baked skills of yours,” he chuckled.

Naturally, Xiao Jing put up a struggle, but it was to no avail. Infuriated, and convinced that Xiao Ye wouldn’t release his hold on her, she howled at him, “Let me go!”

Xiao Ye leaned over and whispered in her ear, “My dear Fourth Brother, your results have already been announced. And unsurprisingly, you have come in last, as usual. Per the rules and regulations of the Special Command Unit, you ought to pack up and head back to Regiment 525 tomorrow. However, I can save you the humiliation if you leave with me now. I will make alternative arrangements for you.”

Xiao Jing turned her head and bit Xiao Ye on the ear without any second thoughts.

“Ow!” Xiao Ye yelped in pain and inadvertently loosened his grip. Xiao Jing, of course, took the chance to escape from her brother.

Having regained freedom, Xiao Jing launched a knee kick at the spot between Xiao Ye’s thighs.

“You’re playing dirty,” said Xiao Ye, as he dodged instinctively, but a second’s hesitation had cost him. The pain inflicted was so debilitating that he sank to the floor on his knees.

Xiao Jing got up and cracked her knuckles as she looked down at the person who had just switched positions with her. She then said with a massive grin on her face, “How could I trouble my Fifth Brother with trivial matters such as this? You’re a busy man, and as a general, you ought to devote your time to serving the country. I could never trouble you with my personal affairs. There’s no reason for you to worry, I’ll settle them on my own.”

Xiao Ye gulped in pain and attempted to ease the pain inflicted on his body. He then said through gritted teeth, “Fine. I’ll leave you alone,”

“Don’t tell anyone else in the family about this. You may not find it embarrassing, but I do.” Xiao Jing reminded him.

“Even if I don’t say anything about it, someone’s bound to hear about it. After all, the kiss is a big deal for the devil incarnate. It was an incredible feat, and you have no doubt left a glorious mark in history.”

Xiao Jing clenched her fists anxiously. “I already told you that it was an accident.”

“Well, it isn’t too hard to plan an ‘accident’ like this,” retorted Xiao Ye.

Xiao Jing narrowed her eyes. Since it was impossible to get Xiao Ye to keep his mouth shut, she might just have to silence him.
