Inexorably in Love - Chapter 40

“Teach the Gu family a lesson!” Beiming Han casually commanded before he left with Gu Qingxin in his arms.

“Understood!” Yeqi quickly left the basement as well.

The mysterious motorcade slowly cruised away in the darkness as the Gu family mansion burst into flames behind them.

Gu Qingxin opened her eyes, and the sight of a transparent tube was the first thing that greeted her eyes. When she looked up, she saw an IV drip hanging above her. Her head felt like it was going to explode from pain and she subconsciously raised her arm to touch her forehead.

“Miss Gu, please don’t move. You’re getting an infusion now, be careful not to pull the needle out,” Aunt Zhou said as she quickly restrained Gu Qingxin’s moving arm.

When Gu Qingxin saw Aunt Zhou, she recalled what happened last night. To pay for her mother’s treatment, she had agreed to sell herself to Beiming Han.

As for Tang Rongling, she no longer wished to think about him.

“What’s wrong with me?” Gu Qingxin asked softly.

“You’re running a fever. When Master Beiming brought you back yesterday, your fever had already reached 42 degrees,” Aunt Zhou explained.

Gu QIngxin pursed her lips bitterly. “I’m running a fever. I’ve always been especially healthy since I was a child and I rarely fall sick,” she thought.

Sick…

Oh no, my mother is still alone in the hospital.

Gu Qingxin could no longer remain calm at the thought of her mother. She struggled to sit up and tried to pull the needle out of her hand.

“Miss Gu, what are you doing?” Aunt Zhou hurriedly stopped her.

“My mother is still in the hospital, I have to go see her,” Gu Qingxin said as she coughed while trying to get out of bed. Her long hair fell across her delicate and beautiful face, concealing it.

“Lie back down!” A cold voice rang out.

The two of them looked at the door to see Beiming Han walk in with a dark expression on his face and a large dog beside him.

Aunt Zhou immediately rose to greet him, “Master Beiming.”

“The IV drip is not done yet, you’re not allowed to get out of bed.” Beiming Han walked to the bed and stared expressionlessly at the fragile girl sitting on it.

“I’m fine now. I have to go and see my mother, she’s in the hospital alone and I’m worried about her,” Gu Qingxin said as she lifted her head and made eye-contact with him unflinchingly.

“Since I already promised you that I’ll save her life, I’ll do just that. Don’t forget what you have promised me as well. Your mother’s fate depends entirely on your performance.” Beiming Han crossed his arms and looked down at her. His dark eyes were extremely cold.

“You!” Gu Qingxin’s chest tightened, but she maintained her eye-contact with him stubbornly. Her chest started to heave slightly.

Aunt Zhou was terrified that Gu Qingxin did not know about Beiming Han’s temper and would accidentally anger him. If that happened, Gu Qingxin would be the one who suffered.

She quickly helped Gu Qingxin lie back down as she grabbed the blanket behind her and said, “Miss Gu, at least wait until your IV drip is finished. There isn’t much left anyway.”

Aunt Zhou covered Gu Qingxin’s body with the blanket. Gu Qingxin bowed her head indignantly, and the rims of her eyes reddened.

When Beiming Han saw her like that, he sneered disdainfully and reminded her, “Don’t forget the contract you signed yesterday. When you did that, you did it willingly. Nobody coerced you into it. Since you want to go back on your word, I’ll give you the chance to. Yeqi!”

Beiming Han had to call out once before Yeqi appeared in the room. He lowered his head respectfully and greeted him, “Master Beiming.”

“Cancel all the arrangements we made with the hospital!” Beiming exclaimed cruelly without a trace of emotion in his voice.

“No, don’t do that! I’m not going back on my word! I’ll listen to you. Please, you must save my mother,” Gu Qingxin said as she grabbed his hand desperately. The needle in her hand fell out, drawing some blood.
