Inexorably in Love - Chapter 36

“Ah…” Gu Qingxin exhaled softly. The bruises on her wrists were much worse than those on her face.

The expression on Lin Yin’s face transformed dramatically. She immediately rolled up the sleeves of her daughter’s top, and the bruises around Gu Qingxin’s wrists filled her vision.

Bai Jingqing had not bandaged the injuries on her wrists. There were two scarlet marks, like two venomous snakes that encircled her delicate, fair wrists that looked particularly shocking.

“This…” Lin Yin felt like she had been struck by lightning. She tugged at her daughter’s top and revealed the numerous love bites across her neck.

Lin Yin had been through this before. When she saw the state that her daughter was in, she instantly pieced together what had happened.

She had detected the ill intentions of the Gu family, but she never expected them to be so vicious and make a move on her daughter so quickly.

As she imagined how that b*stard must have humiliated her daughter, Lin Yin’s vision grew dark and her body swayed heavily.

Gu Qingxin was startled by her mother’s appearance. She quickly supported her and said, “Mom, what’s wrong with you? Are you feeling uncomfortable?”

Lin Yin’s face had become very pale, and Gu Qingxin watched as her mother collapsed onto the floor.

“Mom!” Gu Qingxin quickly wrapped her arms around her mother’s body so that they hit the ground together. “Mom! Someone! Please help us… Mom, please wake up… Someone help us…”

A sudden downpour began. The cold raindrops assaulted both mother and daughter. No one came to their aid. They only had each other to depend on.

Gu Qingxin dug around for her mother’s mobile phone from her purse and dialed for an ambulance.

“Mom, please wake up. Mom, I’m begging you, please wake up. Don’t fall asleep…” Gu Qingxin hugged her mother tightly.

She wanted to shield her mother from the rain, but she lacked the ability to do so. She could only watch as her mother grew increasingly drenched from the falling rain. There was nothing else she could do.

In the hospital, Lin Yin was sent to the emergency room. Gu Qingxin was soaked from head to toe as she stood all alone outside the emergency room.

For so many years, her mother had been her biggest spiritual support. When she witnessed her mother collapse, it felt like the entire sky fell on her.

She knew she could not depend on the Gu family, but for the sake of her mother’s life, she still gave them a call.

However, not a single soul from the Gu family showed up. She was the only person who waited outside the emergency room the entire night.

After the doctors’ best effort to save her mother, Lin Yin’s condition finally stabilized, and she was moved to the intensive care unit when daylight broke.

Through the thick glass, Gu Qingxin watched her mother lie on a small hospital bed with various medical equipment attached to her body.

The doctor emerged from the room. He glanced at the completely drenched girl and asked, “Are you the patient’s family member?”

“Yes, I am. Doctor, how is my mother’s condition?” Gu Qingxin’s tears started to stream down her face yet again.

“There is a very big tumor on your mother’s brain that has started to compress her nervous system. She needs to undergo surgery as soon as possible, or her life will be in danger at any moment,” the doctor explained to her as he shut the patient’s case file.

“Doctor, I’m begging you, you have to save my mother. I don’t have anyone else. My mother is the only person I have left. I cannot lose her. I’m begging you, please save her,” Gu Qingxin cried as she grabbed the doctor’s arm.

“Miss, please calm down. Your mother needs a very complicated surgery. Our hospital can arrange for the surgery. You should quickly prepare the operation fee as soon as possible,” the doctor said, trying to calm Gu Qingxin while also explaining the seriousness of the situation.

“How much would that be?”
