I’m A Wasteland Giant - Chapter 29

“There are too many insects. We need to move them out of the way!”

Chu Zixuan pointed at the insects under his feet and felt somewhat helpless. Although the insects had been killed, the place was basically filled with their carcasses.

Du Gang scratched his head irritably. Along the way, they had killed a lot of insects.

“All right, I’ll do it!!”

He sighed, glanced at Chu Zixuan who stood motionless on the carcasses, and moved them all by himself.

He was the only one who could do it. The energy consumption of Chu Zixuan’s psychokinesis was calculated according to the size of the object he manipulated. The larger the object, the more energy consumed and the shorter its duration. In terms of moving the carcasses, he could probably only do it once or twice and would have to rest shortly after.

Soon after, Du Gang transformed and moved all the insects in the area outside the door.

During the process, they also found a strange phenomenon. The moment the insects passed an area illuminated by sunlight, the tentacles on their heads instantly burned to ashes.

The courtyard was almost half full. An Ya and others had already retreated and looked at the two of them from afar.

Du Gang looked at their reaction and a hint of displeasure sprouted inside him. Despite that, he didn’t flare up. Instead, he restored his true size and followed Chu Zixuan to the entrance of the cellar.

The entrance was blocked by a huge steel plate. Judging from the echo produced upon knocking on it, it was apparent that the steel plate was very thick.

On the left and right of the steel plate were two handles that were meant to be pulled.

Du Gang went up to hold the handle and used a little force to pull it. However, it didn’t budge.

It seemed like it was locked from the inside.

“You should be able to pull it open if you transform!” Chu Zixuan shook his head and added, “Be careful not to break it!”

After saying that, he stepped forward, knocked hard on the steel plate, leaned down, and shouted: “Can you hear me inside?”

While shouting, he used his spiritual power to scan the area.

The people inside who had been sitting in disarray gathered at the entrance with their weapons.

It seemed that the soundproofing of this steel plate wasn’t as good as expected.

“Who’s there?”

A muffled sound came from behind the steel plate.

“Humans. We are humans. You are safe for now, so you can open the door!”

Chu Zixuan lay on the ground and responded loudly.

Under the steel plate, there were 13 people dressed in police uniforms. After hearing Chu Zixuan’s voice, they stood together and discussed.

“Is it really a human?”

“Could it be an insect in disguise?”

“Impossible. Bloody hell, you must have watched too much Starship Troopers[1]!”

“Could the army have come to our rescue?”

“But I didn’t hear any gunfire!”

“Perhaps the insects already left on their own?”

Just now, they did hear some rustling, as if things were being dragged across the ground.

The 13 people discussed for a while and finally decided to open the steel plate to check out the situation.

After all, they couldn’t possibly stay inside the whole time because food would run out sooner or later. It was better to gamble and see if there were real humans up there!

Creak!

A slit opened from the steel plate door.

The people inside took a very cautious glance outside, and after seeing the faces of Chu Zixuan and Du Gang, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Soon after, they exerted force to push the steel plate door open.

Bam!

The steel plate door hit the ground heavily with a loud bang.

Du Gang quickly looked around. Luckily for them, the insects were still sleeping soundly and weren’t woken up by the clamors.

The first person who climbed out of the entrance jumped in shock and almost dove back into the bomb shelter.

Fortunately, Chu Zixuan was quick to grab his arm and consoled: “It’s okay, it’s okay. Those insects are asleep!”

After explaining the situation, the 13 people climbed to the ground one after another.

“So, you’re students?”

Among the 13 police officers, He Yongjun held the highest rank as the captain of the police department’s criminal investigation brigade. At that moment, he asked in puzzlement.

He couldn’t help but be surprised. Du Gang was 1.9 meters tall and had a body full of tough muscles. Anyone who saw him would undoubtedly be afraid. But to his surprise, Du Gang was just a high school student?

“Yes. We have four other companions waiting outside; three students and a teacher!”

Seeing that the police officers didn’t believe their words, Du Gang decided to lead them out the door.

And sure enough, after seeing Ma Li and the others standing outside, the 13 police officers finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Du Gang thought about it and figured it was better to leave this situation to Chu Zixuan, so he gestured to him with his eyes.

Upon seeing his signal, Chu Zixuan nodded and asked: “May I know what happened to you guys here?”

“Sigh!”

He Yongjun sighed: “We received orders to stay at the police station and wait for updates. When the sun went down, the insects appeared and we resisted with guns…

“But who would have thought that the insects weren’t afraid of our bullets at all. Their shells were so surprisingly tough that not even bullets could penetrate them…

“Amidst the chaos, we were the only ones who escaped into the bomb shelter…”

After hearing their narrative, the group realized that everyone was equal in the face of disaster. Not even guns could protect them against such relentless insects.

Compared to the rest of them who hid in their homes, the casualties here were even worse, because they had a superstitious belief in their guns!

At that moment, Chu Zixuan abruptly interrupted: “You guys fought against the insects?”

“That’s right!”

“We saw how quickly the insects moved, so how did you guys get away?!”

Chu Zixuan felt a little strange. Judging from the state on the outside, there was more than just traces of shooting. There also seemed to be holes blown up by bombs.

“It was our colleague, Su Qi, who awakened her supernatural powers and stopped the insects for us!”

He Yongjun didn’t elaborate on what the supernatural power was. On the contrary, he asked: “What about you guys? How did you run all the way from the high school to here?”

Chu Zixuan didn’t answer right away, but glanced at the insects and Du Gang instead. After seeing Du Gang’s nod, he said: “We stayed in the school at night. After dawn, we found the insects hiding from sunlight so we thought we would come to the nearest police station to check out the situation…”

At that moment, a police officer who had gotten a hold of himself spotted the traces on the ground and spoke with a frown: “Those insects were dragged out and they didn’t crawl out by themselves…”

“He dragged them!”

Chu Zixuan pointed to Du Gang and chuckled: “Like your colleague, I and this classmate of mine, have also awakened supernatural powers. He possesses the ability to become stronger, while I have the power of psychokinesis!”

Saying that, he let go of the knife in his hand and immediately after, the knife floated in mid-air.
