I’m A Wasteland Giant - Chapter 28

After the discussion was over, the group continued to advance toward the police station.

There was only one street ahead, and the group soon reached the entrance of the police station.

It wasn’t much different from other places—a terrible mess with shreds of green uniforms lying all around.

The electric gate had also collapsed after being crushed by insects to the ground.

The group looked at one another and had a bad feeling.

“Go in and take a look!”

Du Gang held a sharp knife and led the group, while Chu Zixuan followed closely behind him.

They entered the courtyard and the place was hideous: potholes, as well as bullet shells, were scattered everywhere.

On top of that, the smell of smoke was still in the air. It was apparent that someone had fired a gun here earlier, but the fight didn’t last for long.

The group walked to the center of the courtyard and stopped where the sunlight could reach.

Du Gang looked around at the silent place. He turned to Chu Zixuan and nodded as a signal for him to use his spiritual power to scan the area.

Chu Zixuan got the hint and closed his eyes. Every moment, he moved slightly in one direction and soon completed a 360 degrees rotation.

After he was done, his expression didn’t look good.

The others had an ominous feeling upon seeing his face. Du Gang asked: “How is it?”

Chu Zixuan puckered his brows, shook his head, and sighed: “The police officers must have fired shots in defense last night and attracted a lot of insects… Because the building is full of them!”

“How is this possible?”

Ji Zhiwen almost broke down, shrieking: “But they have guns! Real guns!”

The group couldn’t accept the truth. They thought that since the police station possessed weapons like guns, grenades, and whatnot, they should be able to kill the insects.

As a result, there wasn’t even a single insect carcass in the courtyard!

This meant that guns and ammunition couldn’t kill the insects, and they didn’t even take out a single one…

“Guys, look!”

Suddenly, Chu Zixuan walked toward a green puddle of liquid and pointed at it, saying: “This green blood belongs to the insects. Guns and ammunition should have an effect on them; it’s just that they didn’t hit the vitals…”

“Vitals?”

Du Gang pondered in silence. Those insects were tenacious. They couldn’t be killed unless their head was destroyed or the crystal was removed from the skull.

With the hardness of their skulls, even if the bullets hit it, they would probably be stuck and couldn’t penetrate too deeply.

At that moment, the group of six felt somewhat gloomy.

They thought that they could go to the police station to understand the situation.

Not only that, but in their imagination, the police station also might have already built a defensive line for counterattacks.

As it turned out, they were too optimistic. The situation here was even worse than in their school. Most of the insects that crawled out of the spatial channel in the school had already dispersed into the city.

And here, they could imagine the reaction of insects in the distance when they heard the sound of the gunfire. They definitely swarmed over together.

“What should we do now?”

Chu Zixuan was the first to return to his senses and already started thinking about the next step.

After hearing his question, Du Gang exhaled a breath, gathered his emotions, and ruthlessly said: “Let’s go in and finish off all those insects!”

Perennial peace made the people have faith in this place even after experiencing a crisis.

On the other hand, those insects were as if blatantly telling humans that this was the end for them!

At that moment, Chu Zixuan suddenly called out to Du Gang, who had moved ahead: “Wait, there are insects moving over there!”

He only scanned the area roughly and didn’t analyze carefully. He recalled that there was indeed a section of the area that wasn’t quite right.

And sure enough, after he scanned the place again, there was an area where the insects were reacting abnormally. They had stacked together and moved from time to time.

Chu Zixuan took a few more steps forward. After upgrading his system, he was able to scan a spherical space with a 15-meter radius, instead of a straight-line.

He gave a violent lurch forward, ran a few steps, and stopped when he reached a position close to the door.

The other four, after following for a few steps, stopped and chose to stay in the sunlight.

Du Gang, on the other hand, followed him one step at a time, protecting him and asking: “What’s wrong?”

“There’s someone!”

Chu Zixuan looked at him with excitement and exclaimed: “There’s someone underground!”

“What?” Du Gang uttered, looking at him incredulously.

“Yes, there are people down there; about a dozen of them. I found them—they are hiding in the underground!”

Chu Zixuan pointed at the ground and excitedly said: “It must be a bomb shelter!”

“Awesome!”

The four people behind them jumped up and cried out: “Let’s save them!”

Du Gang nodded and said: “I’ll go in with Chu Zixuan. You guys stand guard outside and shout if anything happens!”

After saying that, he and Chu Zixuan looked at each other and walked into the building one after the other.

The two of them weren’t too worried as they had experience dealing with an earlier building that had four insects.

Back then, Du Gang held down an insect and despite it struggling and shrieking wildly, it didn’t wake up the other insects.

This showed that these insects were so averse to sunlight that they could hardly wake up except in life and death crises.

This degree of lethargy was almost comparable to faking death!

After entering the building, the two of them followed the previously discussed formation—Du Gang led the way while Chu Zixuan cleaned up the insects at the back.

It was at that moment that Du Gang finally understood what Chu Zixuan meant by the building being full of insects.

Dense masses of countless insects laid across the entirety of the hall, with some even stacked on top of the other. At a glance, there wasn’t a single space for their feet to land.

“Let’s do it!”

Du Gang’s clothes instantly ruptured as his body enlarged into a four-meter-tall giant. He held down the head of an insect and spoke to Chu Zixuan.

In the beginning, when they first retrieved the crystals, it was indeed Du Gang who was the most efficient. But later, he found that his speed of taking crystals using his hands wasn’t as fast as Chu Zixuan’s psychokinesis.

That was why the two of them agreed for Du Gang to be responsible in subduing the struggling insects, while Chu Zixuan would use his psychokinesis to cut open their skulls and collect the crystals.

With such a division of labor, their efficiency rose greatly, so much so that they were able to kill an insect as soon as it woke up.

Squeak!

Squeak! Squeak!

The two of them worked together to wipe out the insects quickly. Before the insects let out high-pitched screeches, they were instantly killed. In a short time, the insects around the entrance of the cellar had all been dealt with.
