“Huh?” Xia Feng was completely caught off guard. At first, he thought that Cheng Zhiyan was saying that he had no interest in answering his question, and he only realized what he’d truly meant after a short while. “Damn, don’t tell me that’s how you answered Class Two’s most popular girl?”

“Yep. It is.” Cheng Zhiyan gave a nonchalant affirmative reply, and, probably because he was getting more and more annoyed by Xia Feng’s rambling on and on beside him, he turned around and headed toward another window.

“You can’t be like this, Cheng Zhiyan. You have no idea how many boys in her class have crushes on her.” Xia Feng continued to nag Cheng Zhiyan relentlessly as he followed him around the classroom. “Huh, exactly what makes you think she isn’t good enough for you? Don’t tell me you actually like your little girlfriend?”

“Perhaps your task is too easy for you?” Cheng Zhiyan frowned as he turned around to glare at Xia Feng. “If your task is too easy for you, then go help by dumping out the trash instead of following me around.”

“It’s not too easy, not too easy. I’ll go wipe the windows.” Upon being told to dump out the trash, Xia Feng quickly turned around and moved away from Cheng Zhiyan.

After the cleanup had finally ended, Cheng Zhiyan glanced around at the clean and tidy classroom. He waited until the last student had left before he turned off the classroom light and shut the door. Then he rushed toward the school gates.

That rascal Xia Feng had snuck away and run off somewhere with his job only half-finished. He was always doing stuff like this, and Cheng Zhiyan was too fed up with him to say anything further.

After locating his bike at the school gates, Cheng Zhiyan quickly climbed on and rode off in the direction of Xiaotu’s preschool.

.

By the time he’d arrived at the school gates, it was already after five-thirty. At this time, all the students in every class had already left.

Cheng Zhiyan strode through the halls of the school and saw that the lights were already off in most of the classrooms. Upon seeing that the light in Xiaotu’s classroom was one of the only ones that was still lit, he hastily picked up his pace.

When he’d almost arrived at the classroom door, suddenly Xiaotu’s maniacal, out-of-breath laughter rang out from the room.

Cheng Zhiyan stopped dead in his tracks at the classroom door and peeked into the classroom through the glass window in the door.

He caught sight of Xia Feng, making weird faces while crawling like a turtle on the ground.

Xiaotu was sitting in her little chair and giggling as she watched Xia Feng’s antics.

From not far away, Xiaotu’s homeroom teacher was watching the two of them fool around with a smile on her face.

The scene could almost have been described as…blissful?

Cheng Zhiyan frowned, as his mental image of Xiaotu sitting in her chair alone with tears in her eyes was completely shattered.

“This rascal, even if no one comes to pick her up, still gets by pretty well…”

Cheng Zhiyan pushed open the classroom door, and, upon hearing the noise, Xiaotu, who had been shrieking with laughter, turned around. As soon as she caught sight of him, she instantly rushed toward him on her little short legs, “Brother Orange Juice! How come you’re so late today?”

“I had something important at school come up at the last minute.” Cheng Zhiyan had lost his balance and stumbled a few steps back when Xiaotu had flung herself into his arms. Then he stooped down, patted her on the head, and muttered in a low voice, “Sorry, I promise I won’t be late another time.”

“It’s all right. I forgive you this time.” Xiaotu nodded, then rushed to her desk with her short little legs. She picked up the can of Fanta Orange Juice on her desk and shoved it into Cheng Zhiyan’s hands. “Here, Brother Wind gave it to me, but I saved it for you.”
