Xia Changyue’s body stiffened as she remained squatted. She couldn’t decide to stand up or to stay in her current position.
How long had he been here? Did he hear what she said?
He was looking at her with that gaze, so he must have heard the conversation.
How should she explain now?
Xia Changyue might have looked calm on the surface, but she felt like a cat on a hot tin roof inside. How she wished she could run two rounds around the rubbish bin to calm down.
Eventually, she could only smile at him awkwardly and stood up beside the rubbish bin while holding the soft toy in her arms.
“Hmm, I just picked up a call while I came here to throw the toy.” Xia Changyue held the phone in one hand and the toy in another. Her palms were sweaty.
Yan Chengchi pursed his lips in silence while he towered over her.
He narrowed his seductive eyes slightly and began to scrutinize Xia Changyue, who showed a guilty look.
His gaze landed on the mobile phone in her hand.
Who was she talking with on the phone earlier?
It was Big Brother Han again. Did she dare to see another man behind his back?
His hand reached out and prepared to snatch the phone in her hand. However, almost instantly, something she said before flashed through his mind.
“Do you still care about me? Is that why you care about my whereabouts, Yan Chengchi?”
She jeered at him when he asked about her whereabouts. If he had tried to snatch her phone now, wouldn’t it have made her even more arrogant knowing that he couldn’t let go of her in his heart?
Yan Chengchi began to look ominous. His hand did a quick turn in mid-air and snatched the soft toy away from her hands. Then, he turned and walked into the villa.
Xia Changyue looked at her empty hands in a daze. She was stupefied.
Didn’t he make her come to throw the toy away? Why was he taking it back to the villa now?
However, that was a gift from her son. She had planned to go back secretly to retrieve it when he had gone away.
He just took it away like this?
Xia Changyue saw Yan Chengchi walking into the living room while she stood in a daze, too stunned to react.
She could feel the aggressiveness exuded from him even though she stood very far away.
Before Xia Changyue could approach him, he walked out of the living room again.
He was holding a jacket in his hands in addition to the toy.
His seductive black eyes gave her a side glance before he pursed his lips and strode out of the villa.
Who made him angry again?
Xia Changyue touched her nose wearily. She should feel happy about sending him off, but instead, she felt an emptiness in her heart.
She stood in the garden for a long time before returning to her room.
Outside of the villa’s gate.
The black limousine parked at the roadside for almost half an hour.
Yan Chengchi leaned back against the back seat in the car, and the soft beetle toy was thrown to one side. Anger emanated from his body, and he looked at the villa with a complicated gaze.
He was going to ask her to keep the soft toy after seeing how much she cared for it. He couldn’t bear to see her upset over it.
However, he didn’t expect to overhear her on the phone…
Yan Chengchi felt a sharp pain in his heart when he remembered her saying,” Big Brother Han.” He turned his head sharply and glared at the soft beetle toy as if he was going to tear it into pieces. He took it as a substitute for Xia Changyue.
She was just a woman who had betrayed him. Why would he have care and concern for her?
He would definitely not snatch her phone over a call.
However, he couldn’t control his urges to take the phone from her any longer if he stayed. He had to remove himself from the scene.
“Where are we going now, Young Master Chi?”
The chauffeur braced himself and asked Yan Chengchi, who sat in the backseat for further instructions after waiting for a long time.
