He naturally had this aura of superiority, and he didn’t even need to try hard to exude it. He only had to sit there quietly.

Xia Changyue couldn’t help but be attracted and mesmerized by him.

Time just went by peacefully. She didn’t realize she had spent the whole afternoon looking at him until the sky was dark outside.

She couldn’t feel her legs already, but she dared not move unless Yan Chengchi would go away.

Just as Xia Changeyue couldn’t help but attempt to stretch her cramped legs, she saw Yan Chengchi looking toward her. She was so scared that she forgot to breathe.

Yan Chengchi gave a nonchalant look and then continued reading the file in his hands.

It looked like he was reading the file, yet at the same time, looking through the file to reminisce about the time they once spent together.

He gazed unconsciously at the closet again. He suddenly felt a little warmth in the usually cold office.

Her presence here had disturbed the four-year-long stillness in his heart. If his heart was a peaceful body of water, it felt as if someone had thrown a massive rock in it, causing ripples across the surface.

His office was always quiet because he hated to be disturbed when he was thinking.

However, the present quietness seemed to frustrate him to the point that he could not breathe.

He loosened his tie unconsciously and looked at the cupboard again.

She didn’t dare to move at all. Seeing her like this had made his smirk self-deprecating and sarcastic.

He lowered his gaze since he could not concentrate on what he was reading at all. He decided to look at the computer on the side.

There’s a WeChat message notification. He opened it and saw someone asking.

“Everything is ready, Mr. President. Shall we go up now?”

A simple message, yet it made his eyes narrow.

He looked casually at the cupboard again.

Three hours had passed since he had entered the office, and she had stayed there for the entire time. Her legs must be stiff now.

This thought made his smile falter. He was dazed for a moment.

Time seemed to have stopped at this moment. He stopped smiling and eventually started typing on the keyboard, “Cancel the plan.”

Before he could send out these three words, someone suddenly knocked on the office door.

“Young Master Chi,” the Special Assistant walked to Yan Chengchi with a proposal in his hands and continued, “we had just received a piece of information that someone is willing to buy the script contract from you at a high price.”

The Special Assistant placed a name card on the desk as he said that.

“An Chenxu.” It was as if the name was an icicle, and someone had pierced it into Yan Chengchi’s eyes. The warmth had left his eyes. An aura of cold ruthlessness emanated from him.

“Have someone tell him this: if he wants the contract from me, I want his life as payment.” Yan Chengchi deliberately pronounced every single word.

When he said that, he looked at the cupboard where Xia Changyue was hiding in again. His hesitation was replaced by cold determination.

He looked at the computer screen. The words—”Cancel the plan.”—looked like it was mocking him for his hesitation.

Yan Chengchi looked at the name card and erased the words by pressing the “Delete” button very hard.

Long, slender fingers were typing furiously on the keyboard. Then, a tall figure stood up abruptly in front of the computer and left without a backward glance.

The Special Assistant was startled, and he looked at the computer on the desk.

The three words had changed in the conversation window. “The plan goes on.”

The Special Assistant’s heart sank a little at that moment, but he turned off the computer and left the office as if nothing were amiss.
