This was the decor style he liked then.

Xia Changyue decided to stop looking around as though she was a child who had entered a forbidden area by mistake.

However, just a second later, she jerked up her head as she gawked at the contract lying on the table!

She had perfect eyesight and was very, very familiar with this contract. Therefore, even at a distance away, she was absolutely sure that it was her contract!

Xia Changyue’s heart began to beat at a frantic pace. A thought flashed through her mind.

If she could get her hands on the contract, all her troubles would go away.

Xia Changyue swallowed her saliva nervously. She knew in her heart that it was wrong to steal the contract, but… she could not afford to go to jail.

She bit her lips. Her legs seemed to have a mind of their own as she walked straight toward the desk.

She wanted to tear up this document and eradicate it. This would get her out of her predicament. However, since Yan Chengchi allowed her to go to his office, didn’t this mean he was willing to return the contract to her?

Just as she was hesitating, she overheard footsteps coming from the other side of the door. Immediately, she heard the secretary’s voice say, “You are back, Mr. President?”

Xia Changyue jumped up like a startled rabbit, but her gaze remained on that piece of document.

What should I do?

What should I do now?

Those were her thoughts when she heard the footsteps getting closer.

Xia Changyue felt that her mind had gone blank at that moment, and then she turned her head sharply. She grabbed the document tightly, feeling as guilty as a thief, and hid in the bookcase at the side.

The footsteps came into the room just as she closed the bookcase’s door. She then heard the secretary’s voice saying, “Hmm, why is the door ajar?”

Xia Changyue felt a jolt in her heart when she heard another voice say, “Sorry, sorry. I had forgotten to close the office door when I delivered the documents earlier.”

The secretary lectured, “How could you be so careless? You…”

“All of you, out,” ordered a familiar deep voice.

The rest of the staff immediately lowered their heads and retreated respectfully as soon as he said that.

Yan Chengchi was alone in the office in an instant.

Xia Changyue could hardly move in the bookcase she squeezed herself in now. She was so nervous that she felt as if her heart was in her mouth. She was feeling regretful at the same time. What had clouded her judgment earlier? How could she do something like this?

Now, she was caught between a rock and a hard place. There was no way she could get out soon.

She bit her lips and huddled together. She could clearly see the tall figure walking into the room against the light between the gap in the bookcase’s door.

He casually removed his suit jacket and hung it on a clothing rack at the side. Then he loosened his tie with his long, slender fingers and sat behind the desk.

He flipped open his laptop, then, he took a file from the desk and started reading it.

The room became quiet suddenly. There were no sounds at all, and it made Xia Changyue feel very oppressed.

She grabbed that contract as though her life depended on it, but slowly, her attention was drawn towards Yan Chengchi.

His presence was even more intimidating than four years ago. Xia Changyue couldn’t even look at him properly in the morning.

Now, she could size him up to her heart’s content.

His facial features appeared sharper and more determined than four years ago. They were almost mesmerizingly perfect.

Seductive eyes, long and straight nose, coupled with a little smirk, all these made him look unexplainably dangerous.
