I Don’t Want To Be Duke’s Adopted Daughter-in-law - Chapter 23

‘Who is she?’

I and Damian, holding each other’s hands tightly and approaching carefully.

  “Are you okay?”

“Here……Where is this? It’s very cold…….”

She was still trembling as if she couldn’t hear me.

Did she lose her way?

But then, her grandmother’s attire looked more subtle than the other ladies.

‘I don’t wear clothes like this, too.’

It means that she is not the person who wrote the ball.

‘More than that, it’s not the time she is doing this.’

I sat down with my knees bent and checked her condition.

“Are you okay? Where are you sick a lot?”

“It’s cold,……. it’s too cold……”

“Would you like to wake up once? From inside than here ……”

She was amazed as I carefully held grandmother’s hand for support.

‘Her body is as cold as an iceberg.’

When I looked closely, the color of her face was not good.

‘If it stays like this, it may be a big deal.’

But I can’t get up her body carelessly.  Now she is in an unknown panic.

I might have been even more terrified if I led it quickly.

I erased my serious face and said in a pompous voice.

“Grandmother, what are you doing here?”

Grandmother, who had stopped at my question, raised her head.

“………Who are you?”

“My name is Elie. I was walking with my friend Damian. Grandma?”

“I……….I……”

her gaze wandered over.  I waited calmly for her to organize her thoughts.

“Am I……..grandma?”

Before long, she asked a little bit of a sudden question.  She seemed unfamiliar with being called her grandmother.

Even though I had noticed from the time she couldn’t figure out her situation, her soul grabbed her head with her outgoing eyes.

‘Is it Oclumancy’s disease too?’

There were several incurable diseases in the empire, one of which was’Oclumancy’s disease.

O’Clummonsey’s disease was a disease in which all memories gradually disappeared.

It was a similar disease to modern dementia, but it was similar to that there was no cure.

‘I heard that making people with O’Clummonsy’s anxiety worsens the condition.’

I erased my face that had been a little stiff and said again in a bright voice.

“Grandma, don’t do this here, play with us! Grandma’s hand, it’s so cold.”

I wrapped the scarf that Ivana had handed- I tied to grandmother.

“Come with me. There’s a place with pretty flowers over there! It’s so warm!”

“……..Is there a warm place over there?”

“Yeah!”

As I shouted loudly, she hesitated, and slowly nodded.

I smiled and looked at Damian.  Damian quickly noticed and nodded his head.

Grandmother took her steps, holding me in her left hand and Damian in her right hand.

“……..It’s warm.”

As she entered greenhouse,  grandmother muttered blankly, and when she saw the pretty flowers, her anxious mind seemed to fade a little.

As I was looking at the flowers, I asked her.

“By the way, Grandma, what are you doing here? Have you lost your way?”

“I don’t know. Why I was here…….”

Grandmother shook her head slowly at my question.

“Well, it could be. I forgot a lot. Right, Damien?”

“…….What”

Damian nodded quickly in his eyes.

As Damian and I hit each other, her face relaxed more comfortably.

“Grandmother, then what’s your name?”

“…….name?”

“Yes. You seem to hate being called Grandma. HeeHee.”

“name…….”

As she smiled nicely, she blinked blankly.

“My name is ..….”

when her lips opened slightly.

“Viera!”

I heard the voice of a stranger outside the greenhouse.  I stick my head out of the greenhouse.  The owner of the voice of

‘Huh?’

was Baron Amanta.  The baron who found us hardened his face for a moment.

“Viera!”.

“……..Marvin?”

Grandmother, who had approached, was staring at  baron with a little stupid face.

With my eyes wide open, I looked at the Baron and Grandma alternately.

‘Isn’t it two people, a couple?’

I met an unexpected person I hadn’t thought of, so I blindly blinked.

The Baron strides toward us with a pale, tired face.

“Viera. Do you know how much I’ve found? What the hell are you doing here?”

“Marvin?”

“How much I am….”

the Baron asked again, opening his mouth with a face full of emotions.

For an instant, the face of the grandmother, the Baroness Amanta, was blurred.

She blinked once.

  “Marvin…….?”

the innocent voice disappeared.

She seemed to instantly regain her reason.  Her face was pale and tired.

“Marvin. I’m sorry. I’ve lost my way…….”

Baron Amanta pulled her towards her before her words were over.

“Come here. It’s dangerous to be here.”

“Marvin, but….”

The Baron was stupid even though the Baroness said what it was.

We shouldn’t get angry at a patient with O’Clumancy disease.  The inside of the fire only eats more of her memories.

Then, Baron Amanta, who tried to take her away, looked at me and said.

“I don’t know what you’re doing, but don’t use my wife for your plan.”

” ……. what?”

” Don’t use my wife’s pain to make cowardice. ”

Baron Amanta spit out venom.  I didn’t even laugh because I was absurd.

I was going to say a word about the resentment, but Damian stood in front of me.

“Oh, Damian?”

“………Don’t tell Ellie badly.”

Damian glared at the Baron with an alert face.

Then Baron Amanta frowned.

“……..Lord You seem to have some kind of misunderstanding. I’m just-”

“It’s not a misunderstanding.”

He cut the baron’s words as if he didn’t even need to listen.

“A good person can’t say bad things to Ellie.”

I was amazed at his buzzing words.

Damian should not be wary of the Baron.

‘Are he going to be Damian’s mentor?’

Baron Amanta was also the person who discovered the mine, but before that, he was a knight with very good skills.

Now, at a certain age, it was rare to hold a sword, but no one was able to keep up with his long years and skills.

Damian learns more skilled skills under such a baron Amanta.

‘By the way, you show that attitude to the person who will become your teacher!’

I quickly pulled Damian’s arm.

“Damian, don’t do it.”

“But…….”

“I don’t care.  So stop it.”

At my rush, Damian closed her mouth and lowered her arm.

Baron Amanta laughed.

“…….I know now why the Duke brought you together.”

He stumbled as if I was the owner of Damian.

“It must be because of this that you approached my wife.”

“Marvin.”

The baroness grabbed his arm as if asking to stop, but he didn’t stop.

“I don’t want to be a adoptive daughter.”So don’t use these cowardly numbers.  It doesn’t work for me.

The Baron only spoke those words and turned away.

The Baron said what was going on, but he didn’t budge.

I laughed in vain only after their image disappeared.

I understood the Baron’s reaction, but it was honestly unfair.

‘I roughly expected that he would hate me, but I didn’t know it was that much.’

Honestly, it didn’t matter if he hated me.  I was used to it, and to some extent it was natural.

‘But even Damian has ugly hair stuck in it……’

I sighed and looked at Damian.

“Damian. Unconditional vigilance is not a good thing.”

“Why?”

Damian blinked with an innocent face.

“You told me that…,Don’t just be struck. If I are angry, hit him and fight back.”

“……..That’s right, but I said to you and not me.”

” But…….”

Damian said with a face he couldn’t understand a little.

“I’m fine.”

“…….. .”

“It’s really okay, but I’m angry because he said bad things to Ellie. So I did.”

Damian said in a dizzying voice.  Then he looked up and looked at me.

“I’m wrong……..?”

I hesitated, unable to answer easily.

Damian was a kid who didn’t know the emotions of anger, frustration, or sadness.

Although he opened his heart to me, he still dulls his feelings.

Child.

Such a child was angry for the first time.  Resisting and pointing the sword at the person who felt it was an enemy.

Can I say no to you like that?

“No. Good job.”

Just expressing emotions was a step forward.

Damian was an immature child in dealing with others, but he just needs to learn step by step.

Damian is a good and gentle child, so I would have to tell him well by his side.

‘But, in case he don’t know.’

It would be better to make one safety device.

“Damian. If you’re angry and want to run out, if I say no, you have to quit right away, okay?”

“Even if Elie is in dangerous situation?”

“I don’t create a dangerous situation. I’ll get out of it even if it’s there.”

“…….. !”

When I speaking confidently, Damian’s eyes took on respect.

“Yeah, all right.”

Ugh, this kid.  I stroked Damian’s head as if to praise it.

Damian blushed his cheeks and closed his eyes tightly.

Only his ears and tail were absent, and he was like a dog without a glimpse.

“Lord Damian! Lady Ellie!”

Then I heard a familiar voice from afar.
