Ba-thump…ba-thump…
The policewoman had raised her fair, slender neck as she waited for death to befall her, and her heartbeat was increasing uncontrollably.
She didn’t want to die. But at the same time she didn’t want to continue living in such a cold, cruel world.
So she had decided to just die and put an end to all this.
But, after waiting for some time, she realized that the zombie in front of her wasn’t moving.
“Don’t you want to kill me?” The policewoman opened her eyes and looked at him, rather confused.
Graaahhhh…Grrrrrhhh…
The zombie opened its mouth. It looked as if it wanted to say something, but it could only utter a bunch of low growls.
However, after trying several times, the zombie actually managed to produce a few deep sounds that actually started to make sense as if he was talking properly.
“I…won’t…kill…you,” said the zombie.
“What the…?”
The policewoman was terribly shocked to hear these words coming from a zombie. She definitely hadn’t expected this zombie to have not only intelligence but also the ability to speak.
Even though its pronunciation was a little garbled, she could still make out what it was trying to say.
“I…won’t…kill…you…”
The zombie repeated this phrase, and then it turned around to point toward the door.
Then it continued, “Death…is easy. Living…is hard. If…you’re…filled with…despair about this world…then…just…wait! Without…doing anything…in five minutes…all the zombies…will…come and attack you. Live…or…die…you can…make your own choice.”
“What…what are you talking about? I’ve already made my choice! I want to die!” said the policewoman in a loud voice but with a look of panic appearing on her face.
The zombie didn’t say anything else after that and walked right out of the door.
THUD…THUD…
The policewoman heard the zombie slowly walking toward the door, and her heart was thrown into confusion.
She had wanted to die as quickly as possible. She hadn’t wanted to die slowly by getting bitten and eaten by zombies.
Just then, she suddenly thought of what the zombie had said earlier. It had said, “If you’re filled with despair about this world, then just wait.”
“Despair…have I really despaired of this world? I still don’t know if my parents and my other friends or relatives are still alive. Do I really want to die?”
The policewoman started thinking about everything that the zombie had said earlier, and soon she began to question herself.
Eventually, after that zombie had left the police station, all the zombies outside, which had originally stayed completely silent, suddenly started to go into a frenzy again, and they began to make their horrifying growls all over again.
Grrrh…Graaahhh…Grrrhhh…
The waves of zombie growls outside the police station were accompanied by the sound of approaching footsteps.
The policewoman knew immediately that the zombies were making their way toward her.
“So fast?”
The policewoman had wanted to die just moments before, but now, when she was faced with these terrifying zombies, she suddenly realized that she still had the desire to live on after all.
She didn’t want to die! She wanted to continue living! But if the world out there was filled with nothing but zombies, then she would have to live in fear every single day and live knowing that she might die any day. It was too tiring to live like that.
And that’s why she had so many conflicting ideas inside of her. Should she just die now? Or should she live on but face the threat of imminent death and allow this fear to torture her heart every single day? This was the real question.
But she didn’t have time to think about her answer now.
Life and death depended on her decisions at this very moment.
Several zombies were about to reach the door of the detention room where she was right now.
“No…”
When the policewoman saw that the zombies were drawing close to the door of the detention room, an energy suddenly burst from inside her. She dashed over and violently swung the door shut.
BAM BAM! BAM BAM!
Shortly after that, a series of aggressive banging sounds could be heard from the other side of the door.
“Phew…phew…”
The policewoman continued to breathe heavily as she used all her strength to push against the door so that the zombies were unable to push the door open.
Even though she hadn’t really made a choice yet, her survival instinct had kicked in, making sure she wouldn’t let herself die just like that.
She suddenly realized that when she was faced with the real possibility of dying, somewhere deep inside her still wanted to live on.
“I want to live…I really want to keep living…I don’t want to die…I can’t just die for nothing like this…”
The policewoman pushed her back against the door and became rather worked up. She even started to cry.
But she gritted her teeth and persisted as she continued to use all her strength to keep the door shut.

“Humans…are all afraid to die after all…ho, ho, ho…”
After some time, Wang Hao walked back into the police station. He was now standing outside the detention room.
He watched as the three zombies continued to ram at the door of the detention room. The door was shaking very violently, but it still didn’t give way. He could tell this woman’s desire to live was still very strong.
Wang Hao had been able to feel that this policewoman didn’t really want to die. On the contrary, she was even more willing to keep living than a lot of other people who were still alive now.
And so he’d decided to test this policewoman. He wanted to see if she was really prepared to face death and whether she really didn’t care about how she died.
If someone really wanted to die, that person wouldn’t be picky over the method of dying. They wouldn’t frown even if they had to jump into a fire.
But it was obvious that this policewoman wasn’t someone who really wanted to die.
“Forget it. I’ll help you this once. After this, whether you manage to survive or not will depend on yourself.”
Wang Hao took out his katana and walked over.
PFFT!
He swung the blade across the neck of one of the zombies.
Orrrhhh…
The zombie let out a howl, and its blood instantly spurted out from its neck.
After that, this zombie slowly slumped to the floor.
In no time, all three zombies had been slashed by Wang Hao effortlessly and had all collapsed onto the floor.
“Is there someone in there?”
Wang Hao pretended to ask whether someone was in the detention room as if he didn’t know anything about the situation.
“Huh?”
A look of surprise spread across the policewoman’s face when she heard someone asking her a question from outside the door.
When the zombies had repeatedly rammed against the door earlier, she didn’t think that she stood a chance of living.
But to her surprise, someone had actually appeared at this time, and he seemed to have killed off those zombies.
This sounded like a dream to her.
“Is there anyone inside? If there’s nobody inside, then I’m going to leave.”
Wang Hao turned around and pretended to seem as if he was about to walk away.
Creeaak…
Just then, the door of the room suddenly opened.
A beautiful woman in grayish-white pajamas stuck her head out the door. It was that policewoman.
“How did you know that I was in here?” asked the policewoman in a soft voice as she kept her eye on Wang Hao.
When she saw that Wang Hao was just a boy who looked like an ordinary student, she wasn’t as wary as she had been before, but she was still a little suspicious.
“I happened to be walking past and heard some commotion inside the police station, so I thought I’d take a look. I didn’t expect anybody to really be inside here,” said Wang Hao, as if he really didn’t know what had just happened.
“Ah…so that’s what happened…Thank you so much!”
The policewoman didn’t have any doubts after she’d heard what he’d said.
“What’s there to thank me for? After the apocalypse hit, very few humans have managed to survive, so all of us survivors ought to help one another. I might have saved you today, but you might end up saving me the next time. Ha ha ha…”
Wang Hao spoke in a gentle voice, and the smile on his face made him look harmless.
Even though he knew that a lot of men had already slept with this woman, she was really very pretty. Besides, there weren’t that many policewomen around in the first place, so since he had actually run into one, he wasn’t going to miss this chance.
After all, he had so many boxes of condoms, so he wasn’t afraid of any consequences.
