I Became The Mother Of The Male Lead’s Children - Chapter 42

Chapter 42

The Marquisate was turned upside down. Carlyx had a confrontation with Logan and returned with a broken arm.

It was hard to believe that he broke his arm in a fight against Logan instead of Xandarvan. It was something worth the furor.

Upon arriving at the mansion, Carlyx was tended by a doctor, while Logan was surrounded by knights.

“How did you win? What technique did you use?”

“Did you really find out our Commander’s weakness?”

The perfect Carlyx actually has a weakness! That alone was enough to incite the knights’ curiosity.

Despite their enthusiasm, Logan only spoke after twitching his lips lightly.

“It was a miracle. I was lucky the tree fell, and I won by chance.”

All the knights knew how old and thick the trees in that forest were and weren’t buying it.

“It can’t be possible. No way.”

Therefore, the knights went to the forest and found a fallen tree. As Logan said, the tree was devastatingly cut as if it were struck by lightning. It looked like it was unnaturally cut down, but the knights soon laughed it off, saying that they had silly thoughts.

“There’s no human who can knock that tree down.”

Eventually, the knights concluded that the confrontation between Logan and Carlyx was strange.

Daisy had just heard the news and urgently visited Carlyx. Carlyx was lying on the bed as he was being treated by a doctor.

Looking at his expressionless face, anxiety swept over her like a tsunami.

“What’s going on? Is your arm alright?”

Daisy tried to calm herself and approached the bed. How can she not be surprised when the strongest man in the novel was injured?

She was concerned because she had never read about this at the start of the novel, nor imagined this could happen.

“I heard a tree fell. What happened?”
“As you heard, I was fighting and the tree fell down. Logan was fine, but I couldn’t avoid it. I endured the tree for a short while before I could escape it.”

Is that something a human can do?

Daisy narrowed her forehead in disbelief, but soon she dropped her expression. He must have been hurt because it was something that a normal human couldn’t survive.

“Did you get hurt a lot? Where were you hurt?”

“You don’t have to worry too much. He only hurt his arm.” said the doctor, still sweating profusely after running so hard.

Even as he spoke Daisy looked closely at Carlyx for a while before turning to the doctor.

The anxiety that she had endured so hard was about to explode.

‘I hadn’t finished reading this part yet. But I don’t recall this happening at all.’

It’s not like he was a wizard who controlled nature. There were many things she didn’t understand.

Daisy heaved a deep sigh. Perhaps, it was just a natural event after all.

‘It’s beyond my knowledge. I couldn’t do anything about it, and it wasn’t anyone’s fault.’

She couldn’t change the story that had already changed.

Daisy was relieved and sat next to Carlyx. His calm gaze touched her.

“As the doctor said, only my arm was injured. Other parts are fine.”

“I know. That big tree fell down, yet there’s not even a scratch.”

“Yes. There’s nothing else but a broken arm.”

Daisy raised her eyebrows at the calm voice that sounded like broken bones were not a big deal.

Carlyx unwrapped the bandage next to him without changing his expression. The doctor who saw him helped him tie off the bandage over his right shoulder.

“I think it’s better to not hold a sword for a while. Holding a sword can strain your arms and widen the cracks in your bones.”

“How long must he remain bandaged?”

To Daisy’s question, the doctor continued in a serious tone.

“If he doesn’t use his right arm as much as possible, a month will be sufficient. If he strains himself too much, it would take two to three months. You have to be extra careful so that you can get better soon.”

The door suddenly opened and Tyler rushed in. Barely catching his breath, he looked around as if he were lost and stopped at Carlyx.

“Master! Are you alright now? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”

Tyler was the first one to witness Carlyx returning with an injury. He was on his way back after taking care of the mess such as the fallen tree and the knights.

“Of course I’m feeling uncomfortable.”

Carlyx raised his bandaged arm slightly. Tyler’s jaw dropped when he saw Carlyx’s painful appearance, which he could never imagine before.

As Tyler approached, Carlyx took the letter on the drawer next to the bed and handed it over to Tyler.

As soon as he was diagnosed by the doctor, he scribbled with his left hand. The fact that he wrote so leisurely at times like this was amazing.

“It’s a letter for the Imperial Family. Send it right away.”

“May I know what the letter is about?”

Taking the letter, Tyler asked in a poised tone. He still asked even though he knew the answer already. Complicated emotions rose on his face. For years, Carlyx’s letter had always been the same.

Alright. I will visit you soon.

He always obediently accepted and accepted.

However,

“It’s a letter saying that it’s hard for me to participate in the war due to inevitable circumstances.”

It was different this time.

A sense of fear enveloped Carlyx. It was his first time exercising his rights. He exhaled quietly to calm himself down.

“Send it to the Imperial Palace immediately.”

“I will heed your order. I will also send the doctor’s signature and name since it’s better to eliminate any doubts.”

Tyler bowed politely and left his seat at a quick pace. The doctor followed him from the room, leaving Carlyx and Daisy alone.

“Seems like nobody goes to war this time, huh.”

The Zistanter Knightly Order without Carlyx was like a sea without water. The difference in power and skill was too big.

The Imperial Family wouldn’t send the Zistanter Knights to the battlefield while Carlyx was in this state. Since they wouldn’t be of a big help anyway.

Thus, the Manefartal Knights would join the war this time.

“Right. You get it faster than I thought.”

“Did you just find out? I thought you knew about it at this point.”

Daisy asked in a relaxed tone. But then Carlyx made a sound almost like laughter.

Huh? Did he just laugh?

Daisy was about to ask him that, but Carlyx opened his mouth first.

“Then you should know that I’m going out with you the day after tomorrow.”

“Pardon?”

Daisy was stunned for a moment. It was because of his unfamiliar laughter and his sudden declaration.

Are you going to follow us instead of resting?

As if reading her innermost thoughts, Carlyx said.

“The day after tomorrow. The day you leave for maid school. I’m going with you.”

After a brief pause, Carlyx added.

“Because of what happened, I should spend time with my children and get some fresh air. They said those who are in shock due to an accident by nature should breathe the air outside.”

Daisy only stared at Carlyx with astonishment. Just now, it sounded like he made up lies to avoid war in order to go to the capital.

It’s refreshing to see this kind of side from him, but she was still puzzled by his behavior.

Eventually, Daisy went to check out the tree with Carlyx, whose arm was still bandaged.

“…Are you saying this tree fell down?”

Daisy was murmuring to herself, but Carlyx chipped in.

“Yes. As you can see, this tree fell down. I guess it was too old.”

“Trees get stronger with age.”

“Is that so? I guess this one was an exception.”

“Did it rain this morning?”

“No. I don’t know about other areas, but it didn’t rain here.”

“Was there any thunderstorm recently?”

“Lightning struck around here three months ago, but that’s obviously not recent.”

Daisy stepped on the branches and dry leaves. As she closely observed the fallen tree, Carlyx unconsciously placed his hand behind her back.

“Did it finally fall after getting hit by lightning three months ago…”

As Daisy mused, Carlyx did not say anything. With the same expression as usual, he looked at her as she slowly moved forward.

A strange light flashed in his purple eyes.

Rattle, rattle.

The carriage moved forward. A luxurious carriage that was fast yet stable. Daisy thought she made the right decision to buy a new carriage and smiled happily.

River and Luciana were sleeping against each other’s shoulders. They must have been tired after waking up so early in the morning.

Luciana woke up at dawn to go to the capital and was very pretty.

Nod, nod.

Her head rocked back and forth while sleeping. Sometimes she was startled and blinked briefly before going back to sleep. It was all the more endearing because she kept repeating it.

Not only Luciana, River was also very cute.

River brought a pillow instead of Tino and mumbled sleepily.

“It’s not fwive, but six of us! Six of yuus went.”

It was very adorable to see him shaking his pillow without opening his eyes.

Eventually, River hugged the pillow tighter in his sleep. He probably still didn’t know that it wasn’t Tino.

“Huh? Luciana is sweating a lot.”

It was chilly outside, but it was certainly warm inside the carriage. She seemed sensitive to heat. Daisy took out her handkerchief and wiped off a little sweat on Luciana’s forehead.

“Then, shall we get to business?”
