I Am The Commander Of The Second Male Lead’s Knights - Chapter 136

Jean felt the tips of his hair burning.

Even with his eyes closed, the view was bright. And in an instant, the view turned black again. He couldn’t see anything, enough to think he went blind.

“It’s amazing.”

As Jean turned his gaze to the direction where he heard Louis’ voice, he could vaguely see the shining crystals on his waist.

“How is it?”

“Nina won.”

“Oh, I can see it now.”

Jean rubbed his eyes. The child in his arms opened her mouth wide.

“It’s okay now.” (Jean)

He smiled kindly and the child opened his eyes wide. Jean glanced at Nina.

She was looking at the huge bellac. With most of its body gone, it slowly returned to her human form. With a face devoid of pain or fear, she grinned at Nina.

“It’s me who disappears like this, but we won’t lose Great Spirit.”

“I’m not the Great Spirit.”

“To reject a dying person’s last words. That’s too much.”

The woman smiled and soon disappeared in black ash. A fragment of a corrupted spirit could be seen in the ashes. Nina picked up the piece. Her energy was sucked away at an incredible speed, and the pieces turned golden and disappeared. It was a familiar feeling.

I lost my strength.

‘Ugh, ouch.’

Nina patted her waist. It was wet with blood as her side was torn.

‘I got caught in her claws by a hair’s breadth.’

The length calculation was slightly wrong because it was a spear. If it was a sword, she wouldn’t have been hit.

From her pocket, Nina took the energy supplement that Kirill had given her. When she put the green candy in her mouth, sweetness and a dreadful bitterness overlapped at the same time.

‘It tastes awful.’

Biting it with her molars and swallowing it, Nina put a second candy in her mouth. It was then that she felt her hands and feet warm. She grumbled and looked up, she could see Louis and Jean trying to appease the children who were now starting to cry.

Nina scrambled over there and asked.

“Is anyone injured?”

“No, everyone’s fine.”

“They were surprised and ran away, but they were only a little bit nervous.”

Jean bit his lip when he saw Nina’s bloodied side.

“Did you get hit?”

“I got caught on the tip of her toenail.”

Louis’s face darkened.

“Are you okay? Poisonous bellac… I don’t know what to call that, but it looked like one.”

Both of them said they were okay, but they looked tired. There must be wounds in places I can’t see.

Nina said.

“Let’s get out of here first. I think it’s best to get out quickly.”

“S-S-Sister Fiona!”

Then the girl who was hanging from Louis’s leg shouted. Perhaps embarrassed as the three of them turned their gazes to her, the little girl hung harder to his legs.

Nina knelt down at her eye level and asked.

“Where is Sister Fiona? I will save her.”

Nina’s voice sounded reliable even to a child in this situation.

“Inside there……”

Where she pointed her finger was the small door inside a cavity.

Nina got her body up.

While she told Louis and Jean to stick with the children, she took a special ointment made by Kirill from her pocket, smeared it on her side, and walked to the door.

Standing in front of the door, Nina reached out her hand, and the dagger that had fallen on the floor came back as if it was sucked into her palm. Nina ripped the lock off and opened the door.

‘Eww.’

It smelled bad. It was dark inside, but to Nina’s eyes, the outlines were clearly defined.

‘I’m sure she’s not dead, is she. Or maybe did she turn into a strange bellac like that woman.’

Worried, Nina lifted the seed crystal.

“!!”

There was a pile of filth that seemed to be the cause of this disgusting smell, and a skinny girl was lying buried.

“Fiona!”

Nina ran quickly and took the girl out of the filth. She was so thin that she was about to break, so she had to gently pull Fiona out.

I listened carefully to the sound of her heart, so I was sure she was alive.

‘Thank God. That’s a relief.’

Nina who barely held back the tears that were squeezing out carried Fiona on her back without hesitation. The moment she left the little jail-

Kurreung.

A strange sound was heard throw-out the whole compound.

“This is ominous……”

Nina mumbled and ran to where her party was. Jean frowned at the smell and looked with an outraged look at the condition in which Fiona, who was on Nina’s back, was.

“What is this sound?”

Suuuushhhhh, kureung kureung.

The sound kept coming out and Louis said with a serious tone.

“It looks like the water is filling up.”

“What?”

“I beg your pardon?”

“Let’s hurry and get out.”

Louis began to encourage the children, and when they realized that the situation was dire, the children cried and ran to the adults. It was not easy to comfort such children and make them walk on their own and get out of the waterway.

What’s more, as the water began to rise, the children panicked even more.

“It’s okay. Don’t worry, everyone can all get out safely.”

When Nina spoke in a calm voice, the children barely stopped crying. When the water reached the adult’s waist, the little ones were held by Louis and Jean. The water was filling up faster and faster. Some sections were already full of water, so there were places where they had to swim.

Every time they passed by such a place, the time was delayed even more as they took the children with them.

“It’s the entrance.”

Now everyone was swimming. Fiona, who was unconscious, was rather in a comfortable position.

The children sobbed, desperately clinging to Jean, Louis, and Nina.

Louis climbed the ladder first, and the children started climbing one by one. Then Nina carried Fiona and climbed it. Finally, Jean tried to climb the ladder.

Kooshh-!!

A rush of water hit him.

“-!!”

“Jean!”

Hearing Nina’s scream, he was swept into the water. He felt pain as if the back hoof of a horse kicked him.

It was fortunate that he hadn’t let out air until his last breath.

He was out of his mind. His vision shifted as he was pushed into the dark waterway. The light of the crystal fluttered to and fro, making him even dizzier.

‘I can see why Nina said it had a horse’s body.’

The power of the water that pushed his whole body was so strong that the modifiers she said in the morning felt rather funny.

Strangely, he wasn’t scared. Still, if he was pushed inside more than this, it would be a headache to come out.

‘Somehow I have to stop…’

If The Water spirit pushes my back…

Tuk.

Something pushed his back. It wasn’t a strong force. It was a light touch as if tapped. Maybe it was a coincidence, or his back hit the wall, or a swept object hit him on the back.

Normally he would have thought so, but not now.

‘The Water spirit?’

In a moment of confusion, something shoved his back hard again.

Jean got goosebumps.

‘It’s a spirit!’

He couldn’t speak out and weave smooth words like Nina, but he sincerely prayed.

‘Water Spirit, make a contract with me!’

For a moment, he felt a stream of water clinging to him.

‘Ah.’

The contract was successful.

He could tell for sure.

‘Could you please put me back to where I was?’

When he begged for a favor, his body started to go up in the opposite direction of the current. He saw a sparkling light from the other side, it was Nina who had come to look for him.

Unlike before, her crying face was clearly visible even in the water, so Jean laughed and let out all his breath.

‘Damn it.’

Realizing his urgency, the pace further accelerated, and Jean narrowly grabbed Nina. The two of them went up against the current with incredible speed and were spit out as if they were being bounced off the surface of the water.

Jean grabbed the ladder with one hand and Nina with the other.

“Kek, cough, cough-.”

Jean put his foot on the ladder and spewed out water. He drank more water than he thought, so he was in more pain now than when he was in the water.

“Jean, are you okay? What happened?”

Nina, who was hanging on to him, asked. Jean looked down at her and laughed.

“It’s okay.”

Nina’s face brightened.

“Thank god. I thought you were done for in this…”

A little crying voice broke out at the end of her words, and Jean looked at his wrist.

Nina’s gaze moved up to his wrist. A vivid elemental crest was shining on his wrist that was holding the ladder.

“You made a contract!”

A light of joy flashed over Nina making Jean laugh.
