His Wife Calls The Shots - Chapter 19

Lu Wanyu stood up holding her aching shoulder. There was a big gaping wound on her knee and she was covered in dustーit was a rather embarrassing sight. However, she showed no fear even in her current state.
A contemptuous sneer was on her face as she spat out, “Ruin your desk? This is tit-for-tat! You were the one who threw out my books in the first place!”
Gritting her teeth, she continued, “It was my own carelessness to underestimate you. If you dare, we’ll have a one-on-one after class. I’ll beat you up till your parents won’t even recognize you!”
Tang Qianmiao looked at her indifferently and replied, “I threw out your books? Do you have proof?”
Before Lu Wanyu could say another word, another classmate interrupted, “Not only did you throw out Lu Wanyu’s books, you splashed her desk with sh*t. In comparison, she was letting you off easily.”
The girl who said this resembled Lu Wanyu in the way she dressed. There was resentment in her tone and it was clear that she felt indignant on behalf of her friend.
Tang Qianmiao looked rather emotionless as she repeated, “All this talk is pointless. Either show proof of your accusations or apologize.”
A bark of icy laughter burst out from Lu Wanyu. “You want proof? Fine, I’ll show you proof right now!”
She took a few steps forward and grabbed a girl in class who was standing by the side with her head lowered. “Tell her, what you saw the other day!”
The girl was trembling as she stammered.
“I… I…”
“Speak up!”
Tang Qianmiao looked on with indifference.
With fear written all over her face, the girl said, “I… I was rostered to be on duty last Friday. When I was cleaning, there were only Tang Qianmiao and me in the classroom. Later on, I had gone to empty the trash, so she was the only person left in the room. When I returned, she was gone. Because I was in a hurry to get home, I forgot to shut the classroom door… I was only saying that there was a possibility it was her. I didn’t say it was definitely her.”
Eventually, before she could finish what she was saying, Lu Wanyu had run off to seek out Tang Qianmiao to take revenge.
Upon hearing this, Lu Wanyu turned ashen. “Damn you! Why didn’t you say it properly before!”
Slowly, she let go of the girl’s collar. Her eyes darted about as though she was thinking of something.
“So this is the proof you were talking about?” Tang Qianmiao asked.
Having lost her confidence, Lu Wanyu did not say a word although she was obviously still angry. After all, this was the first time she had ever taken it out on the wrong person!
At this point, the teacher ventured cautiously, “The two of you, there are CCTVs in the classroom. We only have to take a look to know what happened.”
With that, the two of them followed the teacher to the monitoring room.
As it had only been a few days, the footage from the previous Friday was still available. Apart from the areas around her own desk, Tang Qianmiao had not gone anywhere else on that day, much less anywhere near Lu Wanyu’s desk.
The truth was plain for all to see, it wasn’t Tang Qianmiao who had done it.
Lu Wanyu then said impatiently, “How about the later part of the footage, I want to know who the real culprit is!”
The school security personnel fast-forwarded the footage. Suddenly, he turned pale and said, “This… how could it be missing. The latest is from this morning. Strange, why is it gone?”
Tang Qianmiao looked up and swept her gaze over the screen. She understood the situation but had no interest in getting involved. She merely said, “I suppose I can leave now.”
Then she turned to go.
“Hang on!”
Lu Wanyu came up to her and proclaimed with an air of righteousness, “I, Lu Wanyu, have the courage to take responsibility for my actions. It was my fault to have wrongly accused you. It was with this hand that I ruined your textbooks.”
As she said this, she swiftly grabbed the security officer’s metal baton and without a moment of hesitation, brought the baton down hard on her own hand.
“Lu Wanyu, stop this at once!” The teacher raised her voice in shock.
But it was too late. It was a vicious hit and the pain caused the girl to break out in sweat.
Even then, she did not cry out aloud, but looked at Tang Qianmiao while holding her own arm, saying, “I will do what’s necessary where your desk and textbooks are concerned.”
Although Tang Qianmiao found the girl’s behavior rather odd, she said nothing and turned to leave.
