His Wife Calls The Shots - Chapter 18

Since she was reasonably tall, she had been allocated the middle seat in the back row. Normally her desk would be spotlessly clean without even a book on it. But now it was littered with books. All of her books had been brought out on top of the desk and ink had been splattered across them. The musky smell of ink hung in the air.
It was a big black mess.
A dead silence fell over the classroom, no one made a sound. Even the teacher was stunned and standing on the lecturing platform in a silent stupor.
Tang Qianmiao stood next to the lecturing platform, her head slightly tilted. Her usual languid expression now showed a degree of iciness as she asked, “Who did this?”
Her voice was crystal clear and the frostiness in it was evident.
“Me.”
An arrogant and smug female voice spoke. The next moment, a short-haired girl got to her feet. She wore a pair of long trousers underneath her school skirt, while her white short-sleeved uniform top had a unique print on it. As she spoke she was chewing a piece of gum and behaved like a true female gangster.
Although she was rather pretty, her edginess deterred others from appreciating her beauty.
She threw a sidelong glance at Tang Qianmiao, then casually strode towards the latter’s desk.
Bam! She kicked the desk so that it toppled over and the books on it fell onto the ground. Then she stepped on them, making a grinding motion with her foot. After this, she turned towards Tang Qianmiao and laughed aloud with an arrogant expression.
“Angry?”
Tang Qianmiao had never seen this girl, today was the first time. However, one glance at her desk and she knew this was Lu Wanyu, the girl who had been on leave from school for the last fortnight.
It wasn’t that she noticed it deliberately. Just that the day that she had rotated into this class, one of the friendlier female classmates had given her an idea of the situation in this class.
Out of kindness, the girl let on that no one dared to cross Lu Wanyu. Not only was she the big shot in class, but she was also the female school bully. She hung out with a bunch of rogues all the time and often gave the teacher a hard time.
A faint smile played on Tang Qianmiao’s lips as she asked calmly, “May I know the reason for this?”
The smile matched her toneーpolite without any hint of weakness or fear.
Lu Wanyu straightened herself and looked at the girl. “You don’t know the reason? After what you’ve done, you dare to play dumb with me?” As she chuckled, the smirk on her face became sinister. “Are you looking for trouble?”
She approached the lecturing platform and glared at Tang Qianmiao with steely eyes before she snapped, “Shut all the doors, now!”
The timid ones among them immediately did as told. The next moment, Lu Wanyu viciously reached out for Tang Qianmiao’s collar in an attempt to grab onto it.
Everyone in the class sucked in their breath.
Just as they thought that Tang Qianmiao was about to get beaten up, Lu Wanyu’s wrist was suddenly halted in mid-air, held up by Tang Qianmiao’s steady grip.
Lu Wanyu narrowed her eyes at once and exerted more force to bring her hand down. It was futile. She didn’t manage to move her hand any closer to the other girl’s neck!
In contrast, Tang Qianmiao appeared to expend little effort gripping onto Lu Wanyu’s hand. She held hard and fast, unlike the other girl, whose hand was beginning to tremble.
Lu Wanyu was indignant. She raised her other hand, but that too was eventually halted by Tang Qianmiao.
Letting out a bark of laughter, Lu Wanyu’s eyes were dark, and a murderous aura enveloped her. She exerted all the force she could muster once again, but still, could not free herself from Tang Qianmiao’s deadlock grip. In fact, she almost lost her balance in the attempt.
Still, her imperious nature would not let her be outdone. She quickly resorted to using her feet.
But as she raised her foot, she found herself being lifted and turned in an over-shoulder throw. Tang Qianmiao had mercilessly thrown her onto the ground with a loud thud.
The air seemed to freeze as everyone stared in horror.
The teacher anxiously spoke, “Calm down, girls. Let’s talk it over calmly. We can sort out the misunderstanding. Tang Qianmiao, stop fighting, let’s hear her out.”
Even then Tang Qianmiao was calm and emotionless as she answered, “Yes, we have to get to the bottom of things. However, she ruined my desk, so she has to pay for it.”
