His Wife Calls The Shots - Chapter 15

Even with the noise cancellation earpiece, her hearing ability surpassed that of an ordinary person’s by many times. The moment she stepped into the courtyard, she could hear the soft splashing of water.
The man must be taking a shower.
What a fortunate coincidence.
As she entered, she ran into Old Yu, who was coming out. When Old Yu saw her, he looked surprised. “Miss Qianmiao, what brings you here?”
The girl stood there looking innocent, with her hands stuffed into her jacket pockets. She replied, “Doggy has taken my stuff and I’m just going after him to retrieve it.”
“Ah, what has it taken? Perhaps I can give you a hand too.”
“It’s okay, thank you, Uncle Yu.”
Having said that, Tang Qianmiao sauntered past him and into the building. Old Yu turned back to look. Rather than try to stop her, he smiled meaningfully before he walked off.
There was no one on the first floor. Tang Qianmiao worked as quickly as she could, to search the room once through. Nothing.
By now, the dog had gone up to the second floor, so of course she followed. She heard the sound of a bottle cap being squeezed and thought to herself, the man has already progressed to washing his face.
With the mentality of making this a quick fight, she swept through the three rooms on the second floor.
Still, she found nothing.
Finally, it was down to Feng Xian’s room.
Like it was a common routine, she knocked on the door twice, acted as though she had a reply, then opened the door and entered the room.
This was a suite, there was no one in the living area. The study was kept very tidy, there were various piles of documents. As she swept her gaze across the items, she saw that they were all work documents belonging to Feng Xian.
There was nothing special about them.
Following this, her gaze rested on a photograph. It was a photograph of a woman hugging an 11 or 12-year-old Feng Xian, smiling at the camera. The woman was quite beautiful and bore a distinct resemblance to Feng Xian.
But she wasn’t Qiao Shiwan. Rather, it was Feng Wei.
It seemed like they got along.
If that were the case, wouldn’t he know the whereabouts of Feng Wei’s things?
For a moment, she thought that perhaps, she could have an open conversation with the man. However, she remembered her mother’s instructions and dropped the idea.
“Are you done looking?”
An indifferent voice suddenly came from the side. Tang Qianmiao snapped out of her thoughts and calmly turned around.
Feng Xian was standing at the entrance to the bedroom. He was expressionless and threw her a cursory glance.
A simple, navy-blue silk robe hung on him loosely, exposing his chest and his sturdy lower leg.
Tang Qianmiao showed little expression as well as she put down the photo frame she was holding. She said calmly, “Your dog has taken my belongings so I’ve come after him to retrieve it.”
“What was it?” His tone was inquiring, as though he didn’t completely believe her.
Meeting his gaze directly, she smiled ever so faintly. “If I told you, are you going to help me look for it?”
His expressionless eyes examined her intently as he replied, “Sheng Li has never been interested in unfamiliar objects. What’s your real motive?”
Tang Qianmiao gave a light laugh without a hint of losing her composure. “Why don’t you make a guess, since you’re so smart.”
As she spoke, she walked towards him. His unique scent immediately filled her nostrils, causing an inexplicable sense of physical and mental relaxation.
“Second Young Master, you are… rather good looking.” She tilted her head upward and flashed a broad smile at him.
The next moment, her unbridled gaze slowly slipped from his handsome face to his neck, and then it halted as it surveyed the bedroom directly behind him to get a panoramic view of the layout inside.
At a glance, apart from the strange layout of the bathroom, everything else looked normal.
Just as she wanted to take another step forward, the man stopped her by suddenly raising his hand and placing his index and middle finger on her forehead.
He lowered his gaze so that it lingered indifferently on the girl before him. Then exerting a bout of force through his fingers, he gave her a push so that she fell a step back.
This move restored an acceptable and safe distance between the man and the girl.
He then said faintly, “You are Bai Mi’s assistant.”
Tang Qianmiao looked away from the bathroom doorway and replied, “Almost. But if Young Master wishes to discuss a collaboration, my answer is unchanged. Find yourself another expert.”
Having said that, she turned and walked out of the room. There was something strange about the bathroom. She made a mental note to return.
Feng Xian did not stop her, however, from his expression, he seemed to have a plan.
At this point, a samoyed came running in with a neon-colored ball. It dashed towards the man, wagging its tail. The man lowered his body and looked at the dog as a few thoughts flashed through his mind. He patted the dog expressionlessly.
“Using you as an excuse to see me… it looks like she’s infatuated with me.”
