“This is my home!” Jiang Beihan told her obligingly, giving her a searing glare.

The man’s voice had a lyrical lilt and sounded very charming–a perfect complement to his strikingly handsome face.

However, for some unfathomable reason, neither his eyes nor his voice revealed even an inkling of the man’s emotions, exuding instead a cold aloofness.

Song Wenxin remained silent for a while, her face a picture of confusion. She had absolutely no idea how she had ended up in this man’s bed.

“Someone had sent you to me as a present,” the man added.

At that, Song Wenxin’s memory was jolted, and she seemed to recall something.

She remembered meeting Shen Jiayu for dinner and feeling unwell after having drunk a glass of water. She had wanted to get out of the restaurant but had lost consciousness even before she could get out of the private dining room!

“Was it Shen Jiayu?” Song Wenxin asked with gritted teeth, the hand clutching the quilt tightening into a fist in anger.

The man moved closer to her suddenly and said mockingly, “Aren’t you focusing on the wrong thing right now?”

His point was that, regardless of who it was that sent her here, the fact was that she was right here, in his bed!

In the past, irrespective of who the sender was, any woman gifted to him would have been thrown out instantly!

But now, since he had seen who she was, he had changed his mind.

“What do you want?!” Spooked by his tone and demeanor, Song Wenxin clutched the quilt closer and shrunk deeper into the recess of the bed to distance herself from him.

“What do you think?” he asked, looking at her through narrowed eyes.

“I’m warning you… don’t try anything or I’ll call the police!” Song Wenxin uttered, searching herself frantically and realizing that she did not have her phone with her.

The man let out another mocking laugh.

Suddenly, he reached into the pocket of his jacket, retrieved a phone, and handed it to her.

Surprised, she hesitated, not sure about his intentions.

“Call the police,” he instructed.

For a split second, Song Wenxin wondered if she had heard him wrongly.

Did he just give her his phone so that she could call the police?

She stared at him warily, wide-eyed, trying to work out if this was a trap.

Or could it be that this man was so arrogant, that he thought that he was untouchable?

Whatever. She decided to take a gamble and reached out to take the phone from him.

But the man withdrew his hand instead and did not give her the phone.

“I gave you a chance and you blew it.”

“You!” Song Wenxin glared at him, holding back her anger inside. What was he playing at? The jerk!

“What about me?” the man asked, looking at her lazily through half-closed eyes.

“You… cannot possibly be a bad person, right?” Song Wenxin smiled sweetly at him. She had decided to suppress her anger and change her tactics to deal with him.

Her mood had changed from one extreme to the other so rapidly that even Jiang Beihan was caught unawares.

“I just know it; you are definitely a good person and will let me go, right?” Song Wenxin continued to smile and think of all the good things that she could throw in as she added, “Most good-looking men are kind, and, judging by your striking good looks, you should be an exceptionally kind person!” She had decided to throw her conscience out of the window and tell a white lie: he was indeed very good-looking, but as to whether he was a kind person–that was still undeterminable.

She was all too aware that, in her current situation where she was up against this tall and well-built man, on his turf, there was not much she could do except to pretend to be a helpless damsel in distress!

She was not going to let that b*stard Shen Jiayu have his way!

“And what if I decide not to let you go?”
