“Cut! Amazing work, people! That was the smoothest romantic scene I’ve ever filmed throughout my career! First of all, Ning Xue, thank you for helping us out today. Speaking of which, don’t you want to move into the film industry? You could be even more famous than your husband, you know?”

Jiang Sheng couldn’t stop smiling hearing the positive messages directed to his wife.

“I’m good. I’m too busy anyway.” After politely rejecting the director’s offer, Jiang Sheng and Ning Xue cuddled together, enjoying their little moment. It was then Lucy came forward.

“Sorry for interrupting, but it seems that the paparazzi is snapping photos of us.” Out of the blue, Lucy leaned forward, grabbed Ning Xue’s wrist, and hurled it to her face.

Jiang Sheng’s eyes tightened. “What are you doing?” It was too late to stop her.

Slap!

The paparazzi saw how Ning Xue’s slap landed on Lucy’s cheek from their cameras. Their minds had already made up the headlines for tomorrow’s paper: Rising film actress and Oscar winner busted cheating—wife slaps husband with shocking betrayal.

“How did it happen? I thought Ning Xue was someone rational.”

“Say no more. The scandal’s going to become the talk of the town pretty quick!”

“A cheater, a mistress, and a mad wife—they’re ruined for sure.”

“You’re insane!”

Lucy flashed a smug grin. “Weren’t you acting all high and mighty? Let’s see if the internet thinks the same. Brace yourself, missus. You’re about to be targeted by online bullies. No point explaining—no one would’ve believed you anyway.”

Ning Xue shot her a glare, hand-blocking Jiang Sheng from lurching at Lucy. “Explain what? I was going to hit you anyway.” She raised her hand.

Slap! Slap! Slap!

Ning Xue hit Lucy several times. She looked harmless and weak, yet her slaps had hit hard.

Lucy didn’t expect her to make a savage move. “What the—are you out of your mind? The—”

Ning Xue threw another slap on Lucy’s swollen face. The camera shutter coming from the paparazzi never stopped, capturing Lucy’s ugly side.

“What a great day to teach someone a lesson.”

Jiang Sheng reached and held Ning Xue’s palm up. “Oh, sweet pie, did it hurt?”

Lucy was about to launch forward when Jiang Sheng and her manager grabbed her. “How could you hit me! I demand compensation! Damages! You b*tch! I won’t let this slide! I’ll make sure you get a hard time! The internet will get you!”

Ning Xue couldn’t help thinking how Lucy looked like a miserable shrew right now. She took one step, to which Lucy’s manager pulled her away from Ning Xue. “Say, did you know why Cage dumped you?”

Lucy gazed into her calm seraphic eyes, her heart growing colder than the temperature around them. She couldn’t speak.

“You shouldn’t have messed with me in the first place.”

Lucy’s breath became ragged and harsh, her body trembling. Ning Xue—who in the world was she? Why was Cage, the shareholder of a top-notch global media and production company, so afraid of her?

“Mind you, the paparazzi would only release any pictures that I approve of,” Ning Xue continued, “I don’t like drama. I never did. Perhaps you really should quit the industry? Give everyone the peace they deserve.”

As if she was declaring Lucy dead, her tone lowered, “Or I’ll force you out myself..”
