Chapter 44: Elders’ Adjudication Meeting
This time, Lin Shan’s cultivation had broken through to the fourth tier Grandmaster Boundary after leaving isolated cultivation. Hence, he thought that the gap between him and Nangong Xuan had widened even more.
However, it had never occurred to Lin Shan that he would end a battle in a tie with Nangong Xuan, whose cultivation was only at second tier Grandmaster Boundary. Nangong Xuan had even shown signs of suppressing him.
Although the battle was more of probing each other’s differences rather than a life or death battle to the death, Lin Shan could not guarantee if Nangong Xuan had a trump card.
Lin Shan was both furious and surprised to find that Nangong Xuan had advanced in leaps and bounds since his isolated cultivation. This gave him a feeling that things were developing out of his control.
Once a master was at Grandmaster Boundary, the gap between each minor boundary was huge, and every fourth and seventh tier proved a challenge. By right, Lin Shan who was at the fourth tier Grandmaster Boundary should have an upper hand over Nangong Xuan who was at the second tier Grandmaster Boundary. However, the result proved otherwise.
“Master’s Junior Lin, you’ve shown mercy. If that’s the case, perhaps you can simmer down. Don’t worry, I will punish Ling Xiao to serve as an explanation to you!”
Nangong Xuan smiled while he breathed a sigh of relief.
He was also quite happy that he tied with Lin Shan. The Longevity Supreme Scripture was indeed a Supreme class skill. He had merely comprehended the scripture for a few days yet it had produced such an astonishing result.
“Let him go? Impossible.”
Nevertheless, Lin Shan’s reply came unexpectedly to Nangong Xuan.
Lin Shan coldly smirked. “Sect Leader, I’ll admit that you did good in cultivation but Haoyu’s my only grandson. I will not live with this and I will not stop until I kill Ling Xiao! However, I’m willing to take a step backward for your sake and call for the Elders’ Adjudication Meeting to bring Ling Xiao to trial!”
“Elders’ Adjudication Meeting?”
Upset, Nangong Xuan’s face turned grave.
The Elders’ Adjudication Meeting decided the fate in Longevity Sect when an important figure committed a serious crime or when there was uncertainty in sentencing a person. The Elders’ Adjudication Meeting would then be organized by the elders in the sect to try and sentence.
However, faces would turn pale at the mention of the Elders’ Adjudication Meeting as anyone who had been tried through the adjudication had ended up in hot water.
The victims involved two Sect Leaders, three Saints, dozens of elders and legacy disciples.
The Elders’ Adjudication Meeting had the right to sentence even Sect Leaders who committed serious crimes.
The Sect Leader and Grand Supreme Elder had the authority to call for the Elders’ Adjudication Meeting.
In other words, Ling Xiao would face death if he was tried.
“I disagree! Master’s Junior Lin, Ling Xiao did not commit a heinous crime, there’s no need to be aggressive. He’s a rare talent in our Longevity Sect and our hope to rise in prominence. I disagree to call for the Elders’ Adjudication Meeting!”
With viciousness in his eyes, Nangong Xuan refuted coldly.
It had never crossed his mind that Lin Shan would rather put aside Longevity Sect’s welfare to kill Ling Xiao.
“Why put the hope for Longevity Sect to rise in prominence in the hands of a measly little b*stard? It’s a joke! It’s not up to you to decide whether the Elders’ Adjudication Meeting will happen. I’ll advise you to refrain from aiding Ling Xiao’s escape or I won’t mind killing him with my bare hands!”
Lin Shan sneered before he lashed his sleeve out and he turned to leave the valley.
The expression on Nangong Xuan’s face turned solemn.
This was the sad truth about Longevity Sect — trouble lurked within the sect. However, he was also an incompetent Sect Leader if he was threatened by a Grand Supreme Elder. This was not an ideal situation.
What should he do?
Was he going to sit by and watch as Ling Xiao gets sentenced in the Elders’ Adjudication Meeting?
Lin Shan’s reputation spoke more volume than Nangong Xuan among all the Elders, so the Elders would be inclined to support him at Lin Shan’s order.

The clear pounding of the gong echoed throughout Mount Longevity.
The heavy yet unadorned sounds of the gong had a long-drawn appeal and an unspoken commanding impression. As the sounds rang in the ears of Longevity Sect’s disciples, their faces turned to shock.
The gong was pounded no more and no less than nine times!
“The Longevity Gong rang nine times. Is that the gong to sound for the legendary Elders’ Adjudication Meeting? Gosh, something big is going on in the sect!”
A disciple gasped in surprise.
“That’s right! Nine pounds on the Longevity Gong is the gong sound for the Elders’ Adjudication Meeting as written in the sect’s ancient records but there hasn’t been one for at least a century. Why is it held today and who is being tried for?”
“The Saint, it must be the Saint!”
“Yes, Grand Supreme Elder Lin Shan is out of isolated cultivation today and it would be odd if the Grand Supreme Elder didn’t lose his mind over Ling Xiao killing Senior Brother Lin! However, it’s weird that the Grand Supreme Elder called for the Elders’ Adjudication Meeting instead of killing him!”
“What’s odd about that? Ling Xiao’s going to die anyway if he goes into trial. Elder Lin would be seen handling this professionally rather than acting on his own accord. He’s killing two birds with one stone!”

Meanwhile, two uninvited guests presented themselves in Jin Se Pavilion.
“Ling Xiao, get your *ss over here!”
The cold voice came from a handsome young man. Dressed in white, this man carried a long sword behind his back. His expression, however, was hard and cold. Besides, his cultivation was at the seventh tier Spiritualization Boundary!
The other person was a gorgeous young lady. This woman of voluptuous body and silky skin was a sixth tier Spiritualization Boundary master. With her head held high, she stared down at Ling Xiao with an air of arrogance.
Upon their appearance in Jin Se Pavilion, a slight sneer crept onto the duo’s face at the sight of the poorly-maintained cabin.
“Who are you to behave so rudely in the residence of Your Highness the Saint?”
Wary, Liu Chuanxiong and Gu Zhong yelled as they dashed out of Jin Se Pavilion.
“Tell Ling Xiao to get his *ss out of here. You will all die if time is delayed!”
The handsome young man stared at Liu Chuanxiong and Gu Zhong with disdain as he coldly smirked.
Their True Qi Boundary cultivation was nothing in his eyes.
“Senior Brother Qi, Senior Sister Lu?”
Liu Chuanxiong grimaced after he recognized the identity of this duo.
The handsome young man, Qi Yuanhua and the gorgeous lady, Lu Lishan were legacy disciples as well as disciples to Grand Supreme Elder Lin Shan.
The duo normally had their noses in the air and they were here today to seize Ling Xiao to put him on trial in the Elders’ Adjudication Meeting.
If it were not Ling Xiao’s vicious deeds, such as Lin Haoyu dying in his hands, they would have crashed into Jin Se Pavilion by now.
