Chapter 40: Giant Zombie Andrew
“A Lv12 exquisite item—one that is corrupted and part of a set at that!” Xia Chengfeng was over the moon when he saw the attributes of the weapon.
He was not a spear user, but did it matter? The golden exquisite weapon in front of him was more valuable than all of his equipment combined!
Xia Chengfeng manipulated the skeleton to pull the spear out of the ground. He expected some resistance in doing that, but the skeleton puppet pulled the spear out easily.
“It can’t be this simple, can it?” Xia Chengfeng was taken aback. Then he suddenly saw a system notification.
: You have been inflicted with the curse [Golden Knight’s Vengeance Lv12]. Your power has been decreased by 10% and your vitality will continue to weaken until you die. Curse duration: 30 days.
Xia Chengfeng had already taken all precautions, and he did not expect the curse to affect him through his puppet.
The curse would cause him to lose health gradually and needed to be purified with a purification scroll or holy water that was higher than Lv12. Xia Chengfeng had no way of dealing with it at the moment.
“Haha, haha! You little imp, you have fallen for my trick, haven’t you?” A weird raspy laugh came from underground. Then, the soil shifted before the nameless burial mound suddenly broke open, and a three-meter-tall giant zombie crawled out of the ground.
It had the head of a human, but its stomach and body were abnormally bloated. It looked like an obese man who weighed a thousand pounds.
[Giant Zombie Andrew Lv12 (Leader)]: The greedy merchant, Andrew, was cursed by the golden knight’s undead spirit and turned into a monstrous zombie.
“A Lv12 leader zombie!” Xia Chengfeng was startled. Even the tauren elder he had fought the last time had left a profound impression on him. He was facing a Lv12 leader now, and it would be even more powerful than the tauren elder.
Andrew had already revealed half his body. He laughed ghoulishly, and said, “Thank you very much for releasing me from my seal.”
“I’ve not had any fresh blood or raw meat in a long time. I really miss it! Go all the way if you are going to be a good person. Sacrifice your body to me!”
Two other elite monsters crawled out of the soil beside Andrew. It was a [Skeletal Amalgams Lv10 (Elite). Soon, a procession of weaker monsters followed, hurriedly digging themselves out of the earth behind Andrew.
“Let me think. Should I bite your head off or eat your leg first?”
“That’s right, I can slowly consume your body while you are alive. I’ll even be able to enjoy your pathetic cries that way. My entire body gets excited just thinking about that!”
Andrew was still dreaming about the scene of him eating Xia Chengfeng alive when Xia Chengfeng attacked.
He attacked the skeletal amalgams first. He activated the energy release capabilities of his Iron Arm, and powerful orbs of energy rained on them.
His attack resembled a magic Gatling gun spraying bullets repeatedly around him! His Iron Arm was also equipped with the [Holy Light Amulet Lv7] and it increased the damage toward the undead creatures.
A Lv10 elite skeletal amalgam became riddled with holes before it could take a step toward Xia Chengfeng.
Its bones were completely smashed, and it could not fuse again.
“Xiaozi!” Xia Chengfeng shouted.
“Roar!” A little purple dragon flew in from outside the plague cemetery and shot out a bolt of lightning flame as it soared through the air.
The other skeletal amalgam was instantly burnt to ashes!
System Notification: Your level has increased to Lv10.
: Xiaozi’s level has increased to Lv10.
Xia Chengfeng and Xiaozi had killed two Lv10 elite monsters in a mere instant!
Andrew finally extricated his obese body from the ground, and in shock, his eyes bulged like a dead fish when he saw the scene.
Even though his two able assistants were much weaker than him, didn’t Xia Chengfeng making look too easy dealing with them?
“Oops, I’m so sorry for disturbing you!” Andrew nervously let out an awkward chuckle, then ran out of the cemetery without turning back.
He had a feeling that he was no match for this human. It had been so hard for him to escape from the seal, and after waiting for such a long time, he did not want to be killed when he finally found freedom!
“You want to run?” Xia Chengfeng scowled, and immediately cast a spell, “[Vine Slash]!”
Vines suddenly emerged from the ground and coiled around Andrew, effectively restricting his movement.
However, Andrew was a Lv12 leader monster, and a Lv9 magic technique like Vine Slash could not hold Andrew for long.
But Xia Chengfeng’s aim was to only restrict the zombie’s mobility, as its movement was slow and cumbersome by nature. Xia Chengfeng stowed the [Corrupted Golden Spear Lv12 (Exquisite)] and went after Andrew. He shot Andrew with his Iron Arm as he tried to get away.
Andrew was a large target and found it hard to avoid Xia Chengfeng’s attacks. Several craters formed in his body where he got hit.
“You’re too much!” Andrew knew he could no longer escape and turned around to fight Xia Chengfeng head-on.
When he faced Xia Chengfeng, he let out a raspy roar.
Rotten corpses and skeletons crawled out of the soil in the plague cemetery.
Xia Chengfeng shouted, “Xiaozi, you deal with them!”
“Roar!” Xiaozi dived from the air and tore the skullcap off a skeleton monster using her claws.
As a lesser dragon, she had immense physical power!
“Human, I shall let you witness my power!” Two tentacles shot out from Andrew’s body. However, the tentacles did not attack Xia Chengfeng. Instead, they grabbed two [Rotten Zombies Lv9].
He had been pretending to escape just now while searching for an opportunity to recover his condition. Having been sealed for too long, his power had waned over time.
Xia Chengfeng continued with his long-ranged attacks using his Iron Arm. Andrew took the damage head-on. His large belly split open like a gaping mouth to reveal a row of harrowing fangs, and he devoured the two zombies and started to chew manically.
Andrew’s wounds recovered rapidly after the boost of energy he got from consuming the zombies, and his aura became more powerful.
“Hehe, hehe! It’s my turn to attack!” Andrew laughed deviously as he charged toward Xia Chengfeng.
Xia Chengfeng did not run from the attack. He wanted to find out what the difference in abilities was between him and a Lv12 leader monster was.
Andrew’s zombie arms were abnormally muscular. They had many times the strength of the tauren elder, and his palms also had claws that had a lethal poison issuing out of them. He flailed his arms ferociously at Xia Chengfeng.
CLANG! The zombie claws collided with Xia Chengfeng’s Iron Arm and the metallic ring echoed across the cave.
The immense impact made Xia Chengfeng stagger back several steps. He saw that a few claw marks on his Iron Arm. This giant zombie was powerful indeed!
It might not have been as bad if he had not been cursed. He knew he could not defeat the other party with power alone in the present state he was in.
“[Mental Attack]!” Xia Chengfeng shouted as he invoked his magic techniques.
By this time, he had already put on the [Tauren Shaman’s Wizard Technique Mask] and it could strengthen the power of mental attacks.
However, Andrew’s movements did not halt in the slightest. He continued to flail his zombie claws around and mocked, “Undead creatures have the strongest souls. Your low-level mental attack is just helping me to scratch my itch. Don’t you have any other techniques?”
Xia Chengfeng did not say another word as he ran toward the perimeter of the cemetery.
“Haha, you want to run? No way!” Andrew instructed his little monsters to block Xia Chengfeng’s path as he charged forward.
Xia Chengfeng leaped into the air when he arrived at the entrance of the cemetery. He jumped a distance of several meters.
Suddenly, Andrew fell right into a trap with a resounding thump.
A battle was a contest of every technique from a person’s arsenal and the pits and traps that he set up previously served as a supporting force.
“This can’t harm me!” The various traps rammed into Andrew’s body, but his sturdy zombie skin resisted them. And whenever the traps injured him, he quickly recovered.
Besides, he could keep consuming the little monsters to replenish his life force.
“Vine Slash!” Xia Chengfeng continued to use this ability to limit Andrew’s movements while he replenished the magic crystals in his Iron Arm to do damage from a long distance.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The sounds of explosions continued relentlessly and although the energy blasts could not kill Andrew, it forced Andrew to use all of his energy in defense and to treat his wounds.
“Xiaozi, don’t let any of the monsters get close to him!” Xia Chengfeng got Xiaozi to cordon off access so Andrew could not consume the little monsters and recover.
The vines, pits, and traps effectively impeded Andrew’s movements. Besides, Xia Chengfeng was also more agile than Andrew, who found it hard to even land a hit on Xia Chengfeng.
Andrew suddenly realized that he was being toyed with by this human!
