From Ant to Demon God of the Abyss - Chapter 27

More than ten days later, Bates, the worker ants, the queen, and a few hundred other ants, had finally arrived at the old goblin city.

Bates chose a small hill that was near the old city, as their new ant nest, and began to work towards a new round of strengthening and evolution.

On the first day, the queen ant laid thousands of eggs, while the few hundred ants that remained, began to try hunting.

On the second day, the thousands of eggs hatched, and the new ant tribe immediately joined the hunt.

Many ants died in the hunt, but more monsters were killed than ever before.

From the third day, the development of the ant colony entered a virtuous cycle; every day, hundreds of ants died in the hunt, and every day, new ants awakened their talents.

As the number of ants that reached level 1 increased, the hunting became easier.

Five days later, the number of ants that had reached level 1, was 150.

Ten days later, 200 ants had reached level 1.

Half a month later, after devouring countless monster corpses, the queen ant’s eggs had reached the maximum level they could be, before hatching.

This caused the number of level 1 ants to explode! 25 days – 300 ants, one month – 500 ants, and in 35 days – 800 ants!

More and more level 1 (and higher) ants appeared, making the ant colony stronger and stronger.

In the center of the Dark Forest, the scattered monsters were no match for the ant army that hunted together.

With the ant nest as the center, more and more monsters were cleared out, and turned into experience points, and food for the colony’s evolution.

Two months passed.

“Ding! Your family queen ant has reached level 10.”

“The ant colony, under the control of the queen ant, has reached level 1. The number of ants that have reached level 1 exceeds 50% of the total number of ants in the colony. It has been determined that the ant colony has reached the limit of its species, and has evolved from a minor ant to an official monster race. You can choose to rename the colony or continue to maintain the previous race name.”

The ant colony had evolved!

When the system notification sounded, Bates smiled and calmly said, “Rename the ant colony. The new ant colony will be called ‘Gold-eating Ants’!”

[ race ] : Gold-eating Ants

[ level ] : Level 1 – Level 10

[ race talent ] : Adaptability, Rapid Digestion

That was the very simple attribute panel of the newly named gold-eating ants, after the evolution of the whole race.

Looking at this attribute panel, Bates was too excited. His mood could only be compared to when he killed Geer and upgraded his template from advanced level to warrior level.

Bates guessed that the goblin race’s level was 3-8. A goblin would be a level 3 monster at first, and if it received enough experience, it could eventually grow into a level 8 monster.

To break through their upper limit of level 8, they had to obtain an advanced, elite, or even higher attribute template.

The gold-eating ant species could reach level 10 without that!

From this moment onwards, the newly born ant species, would become official monsters and have their own attribute templates.

The ant colony was a monster that fought in groups. A hundred, to a thousand, teams were sent out at once, which was far more powerful than a dozen goblins.

In addition to their large hunting numbers, the continuous hunting brought in advanced and elite ant species, which made the gold-eating ants completely superior to the goblins!

If not for the queen ant’s ability to lay eggs every day, they would not be able to rely on the potential and speed of the gold-eating ants alone.

Being such a race was enough to occupy a position among the great monster races in the game world.

At this moment, Bates’ training of the race could temporarily stop. The gold-eating ants had already reached their current evolution limit. If they wanted to evolve as a whole again, they had to have a particularly special opportunity. That was not something that could be achieved in a short period of time.

Next, the gold-eating ants needed to continue to grow and hunt.

They continued to hunt high-level monsters, and plunder experience and attribute templates.

When there were enough advanced and elite ants among the colony, this new monster race would shock the entire game world!

The gold-eating ant colony had already taken shape, and the next thing to do was to continue accumulating and increasing the strength of the colony.

Bates needed to focus on continuing to increase his own strength.

After becoming the overlord of the Dark Forest, Bates’ strength had increased by a large amount, and had become much stronger than before.

His current attributes were:

[ identity ] : Lord of the Dark Forest, Bates

[ race ] : Overlord Ant

[ template ] : Warrior Attribute Aemplate

[ level ] : Level 12

[ status ] : Health 3800, Mana 1000

[ attributes ] : Strength 107, Agility 75, Energy 80, Spirit 50

[ talents ] : Soul Bonus, Devouring Evolution, Adaptability

[ skills ] : Sharp Claws, Resistant Armor Shell, Limb Regeneration, Intermediate Poison Resistance, Intermediate Fire Resistance, Intermediate Ice Resistance, Shadow Raid, Bloodthirsty Warrior

[ gene points ] : Goblin Gene 5528, Frost Wolf Gene 331, Slime Gene 179, Rabbit Gene 84

[ evolution points ] : 8927

[ skill fragment ] : none

[ soul points ] : 5

For nearly three months, the majority of his attention had been placed on the development of his race. Bates’ level had only increased by two, and the increases in his four attributes were limited.

Fortunately, during these few months, he had obtained a large number of gene and evolution points. As long as he had a few more kills, he would be able to gather the evolution points required for his fifth evolution.

Without forgetting the reward ‘mock evolution’ Bates had obtained when becoming the lord of the Dark Forest, which could greatly increase the intensity of his next evolution.

His fifth evolution would now, greatly increase his strength!

Bates would continue to give instructions from the ant nest, whilst continuing to grow and hunt, increasing the strength of himself and the ant colony.

They were preparing for his fifth evolution!

As the queen ant’s level rose to 10, the worker ant’s level also rose to 9.

As the worker ant had the warrior-level template from the start, its four attributes were not too inferior to what Bates currently had.

It might not have been a match for Geer, but in a one-on-one situation, the worker ant would be more than able to defeat an elite goblin guard. The little worker ant was no longer a burden to Bates.

Starting from the center of the Dark Forest, they headed deeper.

A large number of advanced and elite monsters were hunted by Bates and the worker ants, which continued to help towards their evolution.

On Bates’ attribute panel, his evolution points were rapidly reaching 10,000.

One day passed.

Two days passed.

Three days, then five days passed.

Finally, when Bates and the worker ants reached the other side of the dark forest, the worker ant’s had been able to reach level 10, and Bates had finally gathered the evolution points required for his fifth evolution!
