From Ant to Demon God of the Abyss - Chapter 11

[ sharp fangs: passive skill. The infusion of some mysterious power makes your fangs stronger and sharper. Steel is no longer your obstacle, only magic can stop you from biting. ]

Crazy powerful!

When Bates read the description of the new skill, he was delighted.

If the fangs was a level 1 skill, and the enhanced fangs was a level 2 skill, then the sharp fangs was a level 3 skill!

With his ability to now tear apart steel, it was hard for him to imagine anything that could withstand his hunting in this forest.

‘It’s a pity that I only had 1 Soul Point! Imagine if I’d had 10…’ Bates fantasized greedily.

If he gathered enough soul points to max out his attributes and skills, he would have the potential to become an ant that could devour a dragon!

After the excitement brought about by the skill upgrade, Bates questioned where the soul point came from.

Obviously, the creature he killed must have been an official monster.

Before this evolution, he had killed hundreds of insects without receiving any soul points. He only received one after devouring a slime.

The difference between the slime and those insects, was that the slime’s attributes exceeded 1.0, meaning he was officially a monster.

Bates then questioned to himself, ‘Could all monsters drop soul points? Because if that was the case, I could become invincible!’

After thinking about the changes that had just occured, Bates now knew it was time to leave the area he’d become used to, and go deeper into the forest to seek out more monsters to hunt.

He wouldn’t be returning to this place for a long time, so before leaving, Bates wanted to meet the little worker ant that had cared for him so early on. He was worried that, due to the significant increase in his body length and his sharp teeth, the worker ant wouldn’t recognise him.

This might be the last time he could even enter an ant nest, as the more he evolved and upgraded, the bigger he would get.

However, when he found the worker ant, it initially stared at Bates confused, but then after a few seconds, placed a white ball in front of him as he recognised Bates’ familiar scent.

“Eat…”

Looking at the ball that now looked so small, Bates chuckled. He carefully picked up the ball and stuffed it into his mouth. His antennae gently patted the little worker ant’s body and said, “Thank you for remembering me, Brother. I’m leaving now, and I might not be back for a long time. If there’s a chance, I’ll come back to see you.”

Bates patted the worker ant once more, before he crawled out of the nest.

Knowing that the little worker ant was safe and sound, and there weren’t any more slimes aroud the nest, he could leave feeling content.

The worker ant watched Bates leave, and it wasn’t until he had dissapeared from view that the ant turned to place some food in front of a baby ant.

“Eat…”

“Return… come…”

During the next three days, Bates had walked over 1,000 meters, killed multiple slimes, and also fought a large number of other level 1 and level 2 monsters, successfully advancing from level 1 to level 3.

Not only had that increased his level and his attributes by 2, but it had also allowed Bates to obtain a large number of gene and evolution points.

When he had killed a level 2 small lizard, it provided him with enough points for his third evolution, totalling to 100 evolution points!

Just like before, Bates chose ‘main body evolution’.

After investing all his gene points into his main body evolution, his attributes increased once again. Strength increased to 7 points, agility increased to 6 points, physique increased to 9 points, and spirit increased to 10 points.

As for the skill selection, this time he chose the [ sickle ] passive skill that had already appeared before.

He had also figured out exactly how to get soul points. The source was indeed from hunting monsters. However, not every monster could provide him with soul points. In order to get soul points, two conditions had to be met:

First, the monster’s level could not be lower than Bates.

Second, the monster that was killed had to be the first of its kind.

In other words, when Bates killed his first slime, he received 1 soul point, but any future slimes he killed would not drop any points, even if it was a much higher level.

The attributes of monsters were limitless, but the types of monsters were finite. This made every soul point extremely precious.

After clearing the surrounding 1,000 meters of forest, Bates only got nine soul points. This made him more reluctant to add soul points to attributes. Instead, he continued to use them to improve his skills.

Bates, whose body had now grown to 20cm, lay down quietly in a bush, his pitch-black eyes staring at an dark space not far away.

It was a goblin camp that Bates had discovered earlier that day.

Inside the camp, there was a total of eleven goblins, which formed a simple micro-society.

After hunting many ordinary monsters and not getting the benefits he wanted, Bates’ attention turned towards this goblin camp.

Out of the eleven goblins, there were six woodworkers, four hunters, and one thrower. The goblin woodworker was at level 3, just like Bates, and his weapon was a logging ax. The goblin hunter was at Level 4, and his weapon was a short bow and a small knife. The goblin thrower was at level 5, and his weapon was a bundle of short spears that were thrown from his back.

With Bates’ current attributes and skills, killing the goblin woodworker was no problem, and as long as he was careful, killing the goblin hunter wouldn’t be too difficult either.

The only thing that he was concerned about was the goblin thrower. As the leader of the camp, his attributes and abilities were much higher than other goblins.

Bates assumed that this goblin thrower likely had an advanced attribute template, which was his reason for wanting to attack!
