“It could not be helped.” Pei Xiuyuan was on the phone the whole way home. She did not dare to interrupt him. She was still in a daze then and that was why she did not ask for his phone number.

Fortunately, Liang Feiyue who was Lu Man’s friend came to her rescue. She was an outstanding lawyer. She successfully found a loophole in the case and Lu Man was then released on bail.
Feiyue told Lu Man that she was able to protect Lu Man for only a short while. If Wang Yunxi did not stop there and then, she could not help Lu Man anymore given that it was how the law of the jungle worked in this world. They did not care whether you have committed the crime or not. They did not even bother about your innocence.
She would be imprisoned for at least three years if she was found guilty.
She had no other choice but to look for other witnesses or material evidence if she did not want to be imprisoned. She needed to prove that Wang Yunxi was the one who handed her the cheque.
But, nobody dared to be her witness when she had approached the bridal gown shop. The video from the security camera on that day had disappeared for no reason at all.

Lu Man was even more surprised when she heard that. She blurted out, “Who are you? Have you called the wrong number?”
Pei Xiuyuan did not know how to respond to that.
The person on the other side of the phone remained quiet for a while.
