Lu Man snapped. “Do not try to find excuses! You are a cautious person. You would never make this kind of mistake. You must have purposely let her read our messages so that you could use her to get rid of me! You must have thought that if you told me in person that you were going to marry another woman, I would not be able to take it or believe your words. Then, I would cling onto you. You know that I cannot stand being two-timed so you had planned all of this. You let her see my messages to spark her desire to get hold of you and then to dump me for good!” Lu Man was a clever woman. She knew it all along, but she just did not want to make it so clear.
She did not want to make it too awkward for them. She did not want to tarnish their past.
Mu Yunhai wished he could refute, but his words would sound like lame excuses.
Mu Yunhai did not want to admit it. But he did have such thoughts before he made it happen. He knew she would not believe him if he told her that he was going to marry someone else. She would think that he must have other reasons to do this. She would find ways to stop him. He was worried that he would give in and stop his plan.
More importantly, if he agreed to Wang Yunxi to marry her that easily, she might find him boring and stop liking him. Then, his plan would fail. “I really did not expect that she would do that to you!” He did not expect it. And he never wanted it to happen!
“But you were the cause of it.” No matter how hard he tried to explain, he could not deny that he was the reason behind all these.
“I am very sorry…” Mu Yunhai lowered his head. She was right. It was all his fault! He had been regretting it ever since! Looking back at all that had happened, he thought that his seemingly perfect plan was rubbish! He should not have done this! He should not have!

It was you who has betrayed me!” She was disgusted by his face. He had betrayed her. But now he was telling her that it was all for her sake and that she had betrayed him? What nonsense!
What was wrong with this world? How could anyone simply do that to anyone?

“I have had enough of your nonsense! Stop telling me that! Do not try to force me to accept your so-called care! To me, how we used to live was the best life. But you have ruined it! Do you really think I wanted to marry Pei Xiuyuan? Do you really think that I wanted to live through all this that is happening right now? Never! You have forced me into this. If I have not married him, I would have already been in jail! If I have not married him, I would have already been stepped on by Wang Yunxi like an ant! Lu Man almost could not control herself. She was sick of it! Really sick! She could not stand it anymore!
She just wanted a simple life with the person she loved. She just wanted to be with a person who would not betray her no matter what.
Pei Xiuyuan wanted to push the door open before he heard Lu Man screaming. When he heard what she said, his hand that was on the doorknob stopped short.
‘Do you really think that I wanted to marry Pei Xiuyuan? Do you really think I wanted to live through all this that is happening right now? Never!’
He knew it all along why she wanted to marry him. She had told him that she wanted to find someone reliable, someone, who could protect her. He was her last resort that she could find to protect herself.
He knew it, but he still felt the pain when he heard it.
Mu Yunhai was hurt too. She said he was disgusting! He had become a man that she was sick of!
“Manman, I am sorry, I …” He did not know what else he could say.
“Get out of my sight!” She did not want to hear another word from him anymore.
Mu Yunhai kept mum for a moment. “Manman, I was really forced to do this. I am sorry. You can be angry with me but please do not harm yourself because of me. Don’t be a fool to kneel here all night.”
Lu Man ignored him.
He did not want to bother her anymore and so he left.
When he turned around after closing the door, he was surprised to see Pei Xiuyuan standing on the steps.
It was terrifying to see a tall man standing in the dark without any facial expression.
Mu Yunhai was anxious. He walked down the steps and nodded to him. When he was passing by Pei Xiuyuan, Pei Xiuyuan spoke.
“If you do it again, you will be doomed.”
His words were lethal.
Mu Yunhai’s body stiffened. “I just care about my family.”
“She does not need your care.” He had said it before that his wife did not need his care.
Mu Yunhai did not say anything more and left. One day, their positions would be swapped!
Lu Man heard the door again after calming down.
“Why are you here again?” She asked without looking up.
“Again?”
Lu Man recognized his voice. It was him!
“Why are you here? Is Grandmother getting better?”
“Yes. Don’t worry.”
“I am sorry.” Lu Man was relieved to hear that.
“What are you apologizing for?”
“It was my fault.”
“It was an accident.” He did not blame her. He knew she did not mean it so she did not need to be sorry.
“Either way, it was because of me. I am not good enough. I am very sorry about it!” She knew that he was a filial grandson. Now that she had made the old lady fall sick, she was very sorry about it.
“You need not be so polite to me. You are my wife.”
His forgiving words warmed her heart. She was so touched that she could not say anything.
“Her condition is still not very stable…” He was trying to explain why he could not bring her out.
Lu Man looked up and smiled. “I understand. It is fine.”
Pei Xiuyuan knelt beside her.
“What are you doing?” Lu Man was surprised.
“Accompanying you.”
“Have you gone crazy? Why are you doing this? Get up!” Lu Man urged him.
“I am sorry that I could not protect you.” It was a man’s duty to protect his wife. Now that he had failed to do so, how could he sleep when she was kneeling here?
“It was not your fault. It was me being too careless. I should be punished!” She should be punished for making his grandmother so angry. Otherwise, she would feel bad about herself!
