Finally, Hou Qingqing heard the doorbell when she almost lost her patience. She rushed to open the door.
“Manman, what’s wrong? Where did you go with Pei Xiuyuan?” She asked Lu Man, impatiently.
Lu Man had left with Pei Xiuyuan soon after she approached. She did not say anything back then. She just signaled to Hou Qingqing that she would be back and she asked Hou Qingqing to wait for her to return. She was so nervous while waiting for her return.
Lu Man took out the small red book from her bag. “We went to register our marriage.”
Hou Qingqing stared at the small red book, stunned. She stared at Lu Man in disbelief. Her jaws dropped and one could definitely fit an egg into her mouth.
She stammered. “Register? Are you married to each other?”
“Yes, the marriage certification is straight out of the oven.”
Hou Qingqing was speechless.
Hou Qingqing finally recovered her senses after she had drunk a few glasses of water.
It was after she had made several confirmations by looking at the small red book that she realized that both Lu Man and Pei Xiuyuan’s names were there in the book. Their photographs were there too. She looked at it several times. Finally, she realized that they were indeed married to each other.
“Manman, am I dreaming or what? Why does it feel so unreal?”
