Fair Trade - Chapter 4.1

The client’s room was on the 14th floor. On the 14th floor, where the Royal Room was located, there was a separate housekeeping crew who managed it and five security guards who guarded the area at all times.

After going up the stairs to the 14th floor, Sei looked left and right in the quiet hallway, and then pushed the cleaning cart to the room nearby. As she stood in front of the client’s door, wearing an apron, the symbol of a housekeeper, a security guard appeared out of nowhere and stopped her.

“I’m sorry, but I have not received any message in regards to your clearance.”

Why are they so ridiculously meticulous?

But she had already expected such an occurrence. Looking up at the guard, she blinked her big eyes with an embarrassed look and said, “The passenger at the casino definitely asked for housekeeping himself. He said to arrange the bedding in his room before he comes up later on with his companion. He’s the one with platinum blonde hair and round glasses…”

“Is that really true?”

“Yes. I don’t have time to talk like this right now, so get out of the way. I have to finish here quickly and then go up to the 17th floor. Didn’t you hear the news? Giulio Parenti is here. If you don’t want to see me die, get out of my way. If I get in trouble for being late, I’ll say it was because of you.”

Saying so, Sei pointedly gazed at the security guard’s name tag. Then the security guard, who was looking at her with a suspicious expression on his face, stood aside with a troubled look.

“Then, finish it in ten minutes.”

“Do you think cleaning is that simple…?”

Sei confidently pushed in the room key and opened the door.

To cover the view, she blocked the door with the large housekeeping cart and only let out a sigh of relief after entering the room.

The next stop was Nice, Southern France. There was a reason why she had to get off there. It was because any further work would be dangerous since now her undisguised face had been exposed in front of so many people.

Strolling across the large room, she marveled at the excessively clean interior. The luxury and scale were as predicted, but it was unexpected that there was no single commonplace item, such as a towel, lying about.

No wonder his body subconsciously drew away when I tried to get closer to him. Could it be that he’s suffering from OCD, rather than being naive and innocent?

No, rather than that, the clothes worn by the man were too big and his posture was also hunched. It was the typical appearance of a person who was not confident enough and was timid. Also, maybe the housekeeper just finished cleaning the room up a while ago. Since she was a step late, maybe that’s why the security guard gave her a strange, suspicious look.

Sei decided to focus on finishing the work as soon as possible. After putting on the latex gloves from the housekeeping cart, she unlocked the dressing room with very agile hands. There were seven suitcases of the same size and color and two briefcases in it.

The closet was full of suits from brands generally worn by her blonde clients, of which 20% were comfortable casuals. Narrowing her eyes, she impulsively checked the suit size on the hanger.

However, there was no way for suits like these that were not ready-made to have a size and so there was nothing written on them.

Is he a difficult customer…?

Withdrawing her attention, she turned straight to the other dressing room opposite her. She didn’t come here to marvel at a suit or a briefcase that could not be sold. However, the Royal Room was equipped with a unique device that could not be found anywhere else for the proper safekeeping of valuables.

“Oh… Is this thing safe?”

Sei slowly hovered around the unusual transparent revolving vault, her eyes gleaming with interest. The watches inside were all items that seemed to have come out of a Christie’s auction. Works of art that had no market price, so the seller could set the price.

Seeing this, her eyes twinkled unusually.

“Oh my…”

Sei decided she would collect them with extreme joy while admiring the man’s taste at the same time. This time, she was going to hand them over to her middleman without dismantling them.

Maybe his jaw would drop seeing the expensive items? What kind of expression would the old man, who was used to dealing with crude fake Rolexes, make when he sees this?

She took out a cellular phone and a microchip pendant from her inner pocket, a smile playing at the corners of her mouth.

Sei thanked the stars for being born in the digital age. This was a world where everything was possible with just a little bit of intelligence, a smartphone, and an electric signal.

After connecting the cable to the cellular phone, she succeeded in catching signals from the safe and linking them. She didn’t have to do much. The electricity supply then got cut out and the safe unlocked with a deflating sound.

The corners of Sei’s lips turned up, satisfied.

She opened the safe door, but instead of getting greedy, she began to take only what she could handle. However, collecting all the cash bundles was an exception.

Satisfaction spread across her face as she swiped the cash from the drawer. No matter where she went in the world, cash, gold, and diamonds never betrayed her.

“Good.”

After casually leaving the dressing room, Sei replaced the amenities with new ones, and then placed a towel folded in the shape of a swan on the neat bed. As if a real housekeeper had come and left.

This should be enough, Miss Jang Sei.

Satisfied with the weight of her thick pockets, she finally decided to look around the entire room. Actually, she was quite curious about the man’s identity. He looked like a naive fool, but his identity seemed to be that of a very rich man.

As she walked across the lounge, she found a plate of high-end cookies placed on a mini-bar. Seeing the cookies stuffed with chocolate chips made her starving stomach churn from hunger. Sei picked up a bite-sized cookie and put it in her mouth. Then she entered the arch door. The sweet chocolate scent spread throughout her mouth.
