Mu Chuqing’s eyes flickered. She withdrew her gaze and slowly closed her eyes.

The room’s door was suddenly pushed open, and a bright, white light filled the room.

Mu Chuqing slowly opened her eyes. After her eyes adjusted to the bright light, she looked up at the man standing at the door.

The man had a tall, slender silhouette and a stern face. His deep and dark eyes were enough to make the surrounding air freeze.

“Chen, you are back!” Mu Chuqing spoke with indifference as she looked up at the man in front of him.

Sheng Yuchen was firmly gazing at the woman sitting quietly on the bed. Her face that was once gorgeous and moving was now thin and sallow. Her face, as small as a palm, was like a white sheet of paper. Her bony shoulders looked frailer than they did a few days ago.

Unintentionally, the hostility in his eyes softened a little. But when he saw the corners of Mu Chuqing’s mouth arching upwards, his rage rekindled.

His long and slender legs strode forward, slowly approaching the bed, and his narrow eyes staring fixedly on her face. His ink-black eyes were like a never-ending abyss, and with just a glance, they had a magnetic effect on anyone.

Mu Chuqing met his eyes for a split second, then quickly retracted her gaze. She looked down at the bright red flowers on her quilt, then spoke slowly.

“How is Chang Chu?”

The moment she asked, Sheng Yuchen’s eyes turned red. “You still have the cheek to ask about Chang Chu?”

Although he spoke in a low voice, his words struck painfully in Mu Chuqing’s ears.

” … ”

Mu Chuqing looked up at him, but two pieces of paper flung down to greet her. The papers fluttered and landed on her quilt.

Mu Chuqing picked the paper up and looked at it. It was a divorce agreement.

The corners of her lips curled slightly. It seemed the two of them decided to be together.

Mu Chuqing lightly scanned the terms of the divorce, and her pursed lips formed a smile. No matter how much Sheng Yuchen hated her, he didn’t intend to put her at a disadvantage with their divorce.

The terms included everything, a house, car, and money. It was not a small sum, too.

The agreement was simple enough. What was the other document about?

Mu Chuqing picked it up. With a single glance, her face turned even more pale and dreadful.

It was a uterus donation agreement.

Mu Chuqing slowly read through the terms in the agreement. She raised her head to look at him, and her trembling lips struggled before she could only ask. “What is this?”

Sheng Yuzhen saw the look on Mu Chuqing’s face and swallowed the lump in his throat. He walked to the bedside and stood with his back facing her.

After a long while, his cold, harsh words sounded throughout the silent bedroom.

“Chang Chu lost her child. They had to remove the uterus surgically because of severe damage. Chu Qing, you owe it to her!”

The bedroom turned dead silent. The spring rain outside seemed to have gotten heavier. The pitter-patter of the rain beating on the windows was like a punishment to the heart.

Mu Chuqing suddenly laughed miserably. She felt as if her heart was being carved by a knife, making her feel harsh and suffocating pain. His heartless words were like a sharp blade that ruthlessly pierced through her heart.

“I owe it to her? Hahahaha…”

Mu Chuqing’s laughter was heartrending. She gasped and sucked in large amounts of air with every breath, as if an infinite pain and coldness had replaced the oxygen in her blood, and plagued her like a nightmare.

Sheng Yuchen turned around and looked at her coldly as he stood by the bed. Her eyes were like a bottomless pit filled with darkness that exuded enough coldness to freeze the air.

“There are two agreements. You can take your pick between the two. I will give you some time to consider!”

“There is no need to consider!”

Mu Chuqing looked up with teary eyes. Her pale lips were trembling as they curled into a bitter smile. She had interrupted Sheng Yuchen’s words with a look of resolution on her face.

Sheng Yuchen felt suffocated in his heart. His dark eyes flickered, but his expression remained as cold as ice.

“We don’t need to have children!”

Mu Chuqing smiled and gave Sheng Yuchen a haughty stare.

“Sheng Yuchen, you have no right to take away my right to be a mother. You can be without children, but I can’t!”

Sheng Yuchen frowned, his voice even colder and more profound than before. “There’s nothing you can do if I refuse to have children! It will only waste your uterus!”

Mu Chuqing chuckled. “Who said I would have children with you?”
