Descent of the Demon God - Chapter 27

The Surveillance Room became chaotic at once. The job at the Public Security Bureau had never been a safe one, but they had never felt the fear of death so close to them like now.

‘Dammit! I should’ve just gone home when I was told to!’

‘Why did I even stay?!’

Other than the detectives who were on duty as scheduled, all the others regretted staying behind after their normal working hours. It was Gyochung, the only surviving 5th Special Force member who woke them up from the panic attack.

“It’s not time panic! We should get out of here by using the emergency stairs at the back of the building!”

“Y-yeah! Let’s do that!”

Chief Song Wigang of the Homicides Department nodded as he became aware of the situation. The room had four more homicide detectives and three of regular detectives on duty. They all took out their handguns with tense looks on their faces.

Gyochung took up the assault rifle he placed by the wall and took the lead.

“I’ll take the lead.”

Gyochung silently opened the door and took out a mirror from his waist to check outside the corridor. It was late at night, so all phosphorescent lights on the 5th floor corridor were off. There was only the green light directed toward the emergency exit.

‘He’s not here.’

Gyochung checked to see the empty corridor and signaled to the people behind to come outside of the Surveillance Room. Song Wigang and the other detectives followed him out slowly. The location of the emergency stairs were located near the first room to the left corridor of the elevator, near the electrical room.

“Shhh. Let’s hurry.”

Gyochung whispered and took light steps toward the electrical room. The headquarters building, already famous for its sheer size, felt so painstakingly large today as they moved. Soon, they were finally close to the front of the electrical room. Gyochung quickly tried to open the room as he approached the door. Then—

*ring*

The sound of the elevator stopping at their floor was heard through the corridor.

‘!!!!’

Everyone stopped and aimed their gun toward the elevator. The door of the elevator opened and a shadowy figure appeared. Everyone’s eyes shook as they saw who it was. Then they heard the voice of the person they’d been hearing through the monitor speaker from the direction of the elevator.

“Didn’t expect you all to come out and wait for me.”

Terrifying fear gripped their hearts.

*click*

The door of the Surveillance Room opened and someone walked in. It was Chun Yeowun. He checked out the monitors placed on one side of the wall and became astounded. He had received information about modern times through Nano, but it was refreshing and interesting to see it first hand.

“This should make things convenient.”

Back when Yeowun was in his own times, the only way to watch over someone or place required manpower. But these surveillance cameras and videos seemed like it was going to make those tasks much easier than before. The reason for Chun Yeowun’s vist here was very simple.

‘Nano. Are all the videos recorded in here?’

[Yes, Master.]

It was to take care of the recorded videos through the surveillance cameras. Yeowun walked up to the main computer in front of the monitor and placed his hand over it.

*tsssssssk*

Nano Machine particles then shot out from his skin and covered his glove into a partial suit that only covered his hand. And from the palm area, a tentacle formed with Gaterium metal appeared and connected itself into the USB-X port on the computer.

*bleep*s

Yeowun’s eyes shook and he was shown the recordings of the surveillance cameras through augmented reality. The video here showed not only the main headquarter building, but all areas of the compound of PSB Headquarters. Chun Yeowun then checked out the video that showed some people.

“So, this was why.”

On the second floor of the headquarter building, and the first floor of the special units building, there were about 40 locked up criminals. They seemed to be in panic after they heard the sound of gunshots throughout the building.

‘They were in one place because they were locked in. …Come to think of it, this place was supposed to take in criminals.’

Chun Yeowun’s power to sense was large enough to sense all people within the entire compound of the PSB. He was curious when he found a group of people who were not moving from one place even under such circumstances, and he now found out why.

‘Hmm.’

His first intention was to remove every recording here in the surveillance room. But after looking at the criminals, he changed his mind. Yeowun’s lips turned into a evil grin.

The underground prison of the special units building. All members of the Fire Head gang shook when they heard the sound of assault rifles and felt uneasy. They were carefully listening to the noise coming from outside.

“Boss. I think they failed.”

“FUCK!!”

The bald guy with a heavily bruised face spat on the ground as one of his members reported to him. The bald guy was Sohn Mengdal, one of the bosses from the Fire Head gang.

“…I guess the big boss failed. For a second, I really thought we’d be able to leave this damn place.”

Unfortunately, they were heavily mistaken about the situation. They thought the sound of rifles was due to their Fire Head gang coming to their rescue. Sohn Mengdal was in charge of all the drug dealing and finance in the gang. Half of the gang’s money depended on him, so he was a very important figure in the Fire Head gang. As proof, the gang actually already assaulted the bus while they were on their way to the PSB Headquarter compound.

“We should wait for more, Boss. Big Boss is someone who will make it through in the end.”

“…He failed twice already. He can’t do shit, you dumb fuck!”

His usual temper would have made him beat his gang member heavily, but he had specially made handcuffs and leg locks on him, so he couldn’t do more than just cussing out.

“I-I’m sorry, Boss.”

The member became squeamish and closed his mouth. It was then.

*beep*

“Huh?!”

All locked doors of the prison cells opened at once. The Fire Head gang members who had given up all hope just until now immediately cheered in victory.
