Demon Pets’ Black Tech Nest - Chapter 38

Eggy’s strength was in hunting, so Cao Yan was not surprised to know that it had killed a demon beast of the same stage.

However, he was satisfied that the trainer assistant notified him immediately. He knew what was happening to his demon pet all the time, as expected of a proper demon pet trainer.

Cao Yan picked up a demon ball. After thinking for a while, he started carving the corresponding symbols for the element on the demon ball’s surface.

A good demon ball maker could provide the best resting environment for the demon beast so that they could evolve faster.

Cao Yan’s proficiency in making demon balls was currently at stage two, the master level. However, he could already adjust the demon ball’s element based on the needs of the demon beast resting in the ball.

After the master level came the professional level and the perfect level. Cao Yan wondered what kind of demon balls he would be making if he were to continue improving.

Cao Yan finished his work and rechecked all 12 balls. He then told Wang Li to bring the balls downstairs.

He switched the trainer assistant on, and the screen appeared.

Far out in the forest, the hidden auxiliary gadget on Eggy’s limb suddenly fell off and became a tiny drone. It was suspended in the air above Eggy, capturing the live footage of Eggy’s current actions. Next, it sent the data over to the trainer assistant, which was reflected on Cao Yan’s screen.

Eggy rolled its eyes and suddenly decided to play a prank. It transformed into a shadow and drifted behind a tree to hide, eyeing the little drone silently.

Immediately, Eggy was disappointed.

The little drone found its exact spot and was floating in the air right above it.

Eggy showed itself dispiritedly. It allowed the little drone to change back into a ring as it attached itself to Eggy’s limb once again.

In the shop, Cao Yan switched the assistant screen off and went downstairs.

The latest mission from the fake system was to sell five demon beasts within three days. In order to complete it, Cao Yan had to take part in the sales of the demon beasts over the next three days.

“Wow, Boss, you’re really impressive. You brought back so many demon beasts after a single trip out.” The moment An Qing saw Cao Yan come down, she quickly went over to bootlick him.

Meanwhile, Han Muyu, who was a step slower, pressed her lips together unhappily, as though she disdained An Qing for currying the boss’s favor. Yet, at the same time, she made a mental note to be quicker the next time.

Wang Li had already displayed the demon balls Cao Yan brought back on the shelves for sale.

The little sparrow continued behaving like an A-star student, asking, “Boss, what are the stages of the demon beasts in these balls? How should we price them?”

Her question reminded Cao Yan. When he was given the mission, the fake system said that he was not allowed to sell the demon beasts at a low price just to complete the task. So, he asked in his consciousness, “How much should I price them to not be considered selling them at a low price?”

Cao Yan only hoped that the fake system would be reasonable with the price and not fall into the trope of the “real system” setting exorbitant prices for the host.

However, the fake system was just as money-minded. “The price befitting the mission requirement would be the usual price of a demon beast one level higher.”

That meant that a stage-one demon beast would have to be sold at the price of a stage-two demon beast.

And a stage-two beast would have to follow the price of a stage-three beast and so on. This was really not cheap at all.

Cao Yan gasped. Even though the price was high, it was still within the reasonable range. After all, the demon beasts’ potential had been increased by a stage compared to the same demon beasts that did not have their genetics refined by the fake system. Therefore, even though the price was considered high, it was not over the top.

This was a reward mission indeed. There was not much difficulty in it at all.

One thing different from the last time was that not all the demon beasts, despite going through the genetic extraction, had their potential increased by a stage straight away, like the Ocean Peng egg. Some beasts’ potentials still remained the same even after the genetic extraction.

The fake system explained that even though their potential did not increase, they were rebated in other aspects, which was as good as increasing their potential.

Cao Yan replied to the little sparrow, “There are three stage-one beasts, four stage-two beasts, and three stage-three beasts (only these three beasts’ potential increased from stage two to stage three after the genetic extraction). There are also two eggs from a stage-four cave salamander. One of them has stage-four potential while the other has stage-five potential.”

The two cave salamander eggs were tested by the spaceship, but they were each rewarded differently. One of them had an upgrade in potential, and the other was still a common stage-four potential cave salamander upgraded in different aspects.

“Hah!”

The little sparrow’s jaw dropped in astonishment as she opened her eyes wide. “A stage-five potential demon beast!”

The value of elite demons would double with every increase in the stage. Therefore, a stage-five potential demon beast would be priceless.

The little sparrow had never sold a stage-five demon beast before, so she could not help but exclaim in awe.

It was 10 am, and the city center of Magic Metropolis, where the shop was located, was bustling with people.

Customers came in subsequently after the shop opened. However, upon seeing the prices of the new demon balls, they all complained about it in their hearts. They made it obvious that they did not have the intention to purchase anything.

In fact, their motive for coming in was not to buy demon beasts. They were all old men who did not pay any attention to the demon beasts. Rather, they were here for Wang Li. Their gazes would shift around, from her waist to her hips, then to her legs, and then her face, then back to her hands again.

Judging from the sequence they looked at a woman, one would know that these old men were perverts.

“These people always come… but never buy anything. It’s so annoying,” the little sparrow reported to Cao Yan softly.

Just then, another customer stepped inside the shop.

The little sparrow pouted. “This person comes every day too. He’s a rich fool…”

The newcomer was the first man who had bought the Ocean Peng egg. He was fair-skinned and walked in a cocky manner as he sauntered into the shop.

“Hello, welcome to our shop again. We have some new demon beasts in our shop today. Feel free to take a look,” Wang Li went up to him and said.

“Oh, new stuff.” The grandiose man glanced at the new demon balls and went up slowly, scrutinizing them with full focus. However, after a few glances, he started to shake his head.

Cao Yan watched silently at the side. This man might seem arrogant, but one would be wrong to think that he was a fool born into a rich family. He was not like the perverts beside him. Instead, the guy was very shrewd. From his actions, it appeared that he could tell that these new beasts were sold at a relatively high price, but they might not be worth it. Hence, he was not interested in them.
