Demon Pets’ Black Tech Nest - Chapter 31

The interior of the spaceship was as quiet as ever. Cao Yan locked his gaze on the screen interface in front of him.

The moment he stepped foot here, the screen had appeared, displaying the items he could exchange for with his current points.

Cao Yan’s mood became better. He realized that reaching 100 points was another tier. With more than 100 points, he would be able to unlock even more items.

There were many things he could exchange for, including black technology, skill manuals, demon beast tools, and many others.

“What would be the best thing for me at my stage?” The mission points did not come by easy, so Cao Yan was prudent with his choice. He did not want to make a hasty decision.

The fake system did not give him a direct reply, but there were some changes on the screen. The items most suitable for him at his current stage were recommended to him.

[Trainer assistant: 50 points (black technology)]

[Magic Core Pieces: 100 points (demon evolution)]

[Spiritual Light Type I: 100 points (personal development)]

[Weak Eyes: 100 points (active skills)]

Cao Yan fixed his gaze on the four options and commented, “There was a trainer assistant previously too. Now that it has appeared again, it seems like something good. But I don’t need it urgently. After all, this just provides additional aid.”

The man who came to buy the Ocean Peng egg in the afternoon had asked Wang Li if she had an assistant. A trainer assistant was something similar. It could improve the demon pet and pet trainer’s relationship and provide long-distance control between the two.

Cao Yan looked at the second item, the magic core piece. “The second item is useful for Eggy, but its evolution at the initial stages is already pretty fast. There’s no need for that.”

With the first two options eliminated, Cao Yan was still left with two more.

The fourth item’s name was too intimidating, so Cao Yan did not dare to choose it. In the end, he said, “I’ll choose the spiritual light.”

“A trainer’s spiritual and mental capacity determine their abilities, and it is the basis of this occupation. You have made an excellent choice.” That was a rare compliment by the fake system.

[Spiritual Light]: This item was formed by collecting the energy of the stars in the universe. A trainer’s spiritual and mental training should combine with heaven and earth, absorbing the natural power of the stars into one’s body to improve oneself. The Spiritual Light Type I is an elementary product. The effect of this item is the strongest on the first consumption. After that, its effect will decrease by 10% every time you consume it.

The rows of words appeared on the screen before disappearing. They were soon replaced by a transparent test tube.

Cao Yan blinked. The thing in the test tube was bright and colorful, like a piece of beautiful art.

It was a liquid emitting a faint silver glow. It shimmered brightly, as though the entire night sky was condensed into this single test tube.

Cao Yan accepted the test tube and looked at it for a while from different angles. He then downed it in a single gulp.

It was cool, and there was not much taste to it.

The next moment, Cao Yan felt a surge of strength from within. The strength first rushed to his abdomen, and in a split second, it spread all across his body. After that, he felt the strength settling at the bottom of his feet, then shooting up suddenly. His legs and abdomen felt cold, and his butthole was as if it was frozen.

Finally, the chill continued rising, through his tailbone, up to his spine, and straight to the back of his head.

There was a moment where Cao Yan thought that he would die. It was as though his brain had disappeared, and he felt the surge of strength was going to shoot him up into the starry night sky. He felt like he was floating, and everywhere around him was darkness and the faint glow of trillions of stars.

“That’s f*cking painful. What happened to the comfortable and floaty feeling that is supposed to come with spiritual potions?” As the chill in his head gradually subsided, Cao Yan sensed he had regained control of his body. Although he was thankful for being alive, he was still filled with complaints.

“Congratulations. After consuming the Spiritual Light, your spiritual capacity has achieved stage two.”

“Huh?” Cao Yan’s grumbles turned into a surprised exclamation after hearing the fake system’s notification.

“Please do not be alarmed. This is an item worth 100 points, so its effects will naturally be good. Besides, your spiritual and mental capabilities were a little better than ordinary people because of your transmigration. Therefore, it is easier for you to break through stage one to stage two. Please continue working hard and improving yourself.”

Crack!

With Cao Yan’s advancement, the skill tree grew rapidly and reached a height of around three meters. Its branches were swaying vibrantly.

The skill tree reflected his personal development perfectly. It would grow stronger as Cao Yan reached the next stage.

The next morning.

Cao Yan woke up and left the shop to report to the logistics department in the Pet Trainer Association.

He spent the morning fixing demon balls. With the demon balls he fixed yesterday and today, Cao Yan’s skills improved by 1.8%. That was a decent speed.

He returned to the shop in the evening to make some final preparations for entering the forest.

He had to bring all the necessities and the demon balls he personally made. The materials Cao Yan brought back from the logistics department yesterday were mostly raw materials. Therefore, his crafted demon balls were just hollow metal balls. Cao Yan still had to carve out the patterns to give them attribute powers before they could be of use.

After finishing all his tasks, Cao Yan fell asleep once he hit the pillow. When the sun rose again, it was time for him to enter the forest to complete his mission.

Based on Wang Li’s performance, it seemed alright to leave the shop to her temporarily.

Cao Yan brought all his things and left the shop. He departed from Magic Metropolis and officially entered the forest.

Magic Metropolis was at the edge of the Everlasting Forest, so there wasn’t much danger involved in the journey. Cao Yan took his time and still reached the forest soon enough.

[Ding! Capturing and Survival Mission Begins. Mission Time Left: 23:59:59… 23:59:57…]

When Cao Yan walked deeper into the forest and the trees around him became denser, the fake system started the countdown.

A forest was actually like the woods.

The woods were simpler, with only trees of different heights and a basic ecosystem. A forest, on the other hand, was like a little world with complex ecosystems and several species of plants and animals, making it more dangerous too.

After entering the forest, Cao Yan first felt the humidity and warmth that made one very uncomfortable.

Nonetheless, he brought his spirits up and slowed his pace.

Behind him, in his shadow, Eggy was very excited. It was unhappy staying in Magic Metropolis yesterday because it could not hunt. As a result, it had been improving rather slowly. Thankfully, it could still prank that chesty and pure female human being…

Faint beast howls sounded from afar as the wind rustled the leaves above and the grass underneath. The fallen leaves made crunching sounds on the earth beneath his feet. There were also occasional sounds of alarmed birds flapping their wings or the dew falling from leaves… In the end, all the sounds mixed together to form a melodious symphony of music.

With every sound, the image that came along appeared clearly in Cao Yan’s spiritual and mental realm, as though he had seen it himself.

Cao Yan suddenly realized that he had gained a special ability: he could accurately capture the image of the source of the sound he heard just by listening.

This was the benefit of improving his spiritual and mental capacity.

The moment he entered the forest, Cao Yan went in high-concentration mode, and strange, miraculous things kept happening.
