At that moment, Xiao Moli pushed the door and entered the store.
When they saw Xiao Moli, the women’s faces lit up as they swarmed towards him.
Frowning, Xiao Moli evaded their advances and walked towards An Ziqi.
“Sir, do you have anything in mind? We offer quality, custom-made clothing here,” one of the women hovering around him made a gushing recommendation.
Another woman nudged An Ziqi, shoving her to one side with disdain.
“Move. You’re in the way.”
Caught unawares that someone would shove her, An Ziqi lost her balance and fell backward.
The ever alert and quick-thinking Xiao Moli immediately took a big stride forward and caught An Ziqi in his arms.
An Ziqi had the sensation of landing into a wide embrace. Twisting her head around, she saw Xiao Moli’s icy expression and hastily stood up straight.
“Well, she was the one who pushed me. Don’t you blame it on me now.”
Sizing up the situation, the woman rushed forward with a smile and extended her hand to help Xiao Moli.
“Sir, I am so sorry. The audacity of this woman. We will kick her out immediately so as not to affect your mood while shopping in our store.”
Xiao Moli gave her a frosty glance.
“Keep your hands off me! You will soil my clothes. How disgusting!”
As he spoke, he retrieved a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped the unseen dirt from his clothes, and threw the handkerchief into the trash bin, looking repulsed.
The woman was so shocked by his cold stare that she trembled and quickly retracted the hand that had been suspended in mid-air towards him.
Looking upset, she wondered how her touch, compared to that trashy woman who had fallen into his arms, which had not even happened, could have been more nauseating to him?
She surmised that An Ziqi must have upset this gentleman for him to take it out on her. At that, she glared fiercely at An Ziqi.
Without bothering to even look at the woman, Xiao Moli took a dress off a nearby rack and shoved it into An Ziqi’s arms.
Taking the five-dollar note from her hand, he instructed blankly, “Change into that.”
All the women in the store just stared, mouths agape. Xiao Moli’s action had confirmed that he and An Ziqi knew each other.
Although they could not fathom why or how Xiao Moli could have hooked up with this shabby woman, they knew better than to further offend this esteemed customer.
All they could do was stand aside and glare spitefully at An Ziqi—their looks filled with envy and hate.
Noticing the resolute look of non-negotiation on Xiao Moli’s face, An Ziqi decided that, at this time, she would be wise not to risk upsetting him by disobeying him.
Obediently, she went into the changing room with the dress. When she saw the number of zeroes on the price tag, An Ziqi almost fainted, feeling dazed.
What the…? She could not afford to pay for the dress even if she were to sell her body. Did the guy do this intentionally to put her in a tight spot?
Then again, anticipating the twisted faces of those women outside when she appeared in this dress, she changed into it without further thought.
As An Ziqi emerged from the changing room, looks of admiration and envy flashed in the women’s eyes.
So, was this what people meant when they said that physical appearance was all about the outfit and adornment?
They had not expected that their clothes would transform the ugly duckling they had seen a few minutes ago into a beautiful swan!
Generally speaking, most off-the-rack clothes would rarely be a perfect fit on anybody. Even the celebrities who had had aesthetic surgery and claimed to have a perfectly proportioned body would, having purchased their clothes, have requested for minor alterations to ensure that the clothes presented them in their best form.
However, this off-white dress fitted An Ziqi to a T, as though it had been custom-made for her.
With no unwanted bulges or loose ends, it perfectly enhanced her figure.
In addition, the off-white color perfectly complemented her skin tone, making her appear fairer. Meanwhile, the short skirt made her slender, beautiful legs seem longer.
She simply looked dazzling!
