“I f*cking knew superpowers are all bullsh*t! Ah!!!”

Fang Ran bellowed. He should have known things would never go that smoothly for him. It was the kind of vague premonition that things would always not go the way he wanted without a hitch and that something bad would always happen.

‘F*ck this magic wand!’

‘What is the f*cking use of a straight belt.’

‘It’s still a d*mn belt!’

‘Under such circumstances, shouldn’t the belt completely transform into a magic wand’?

‘You’re f*cking unpredictable!’

Fang Ran roared loudly in his heart, before shamelessly shouting something that he never thought he would shout out in this three-dimensional world!

“Save!!! Me!!! Ah!!!”

Under the cloak of the night, there was a young man clutching a ‘straightened’ belt on one of the streets in the city, sprinting frantically in front of a zombie…

Five minutes ago, the real participants of this ‘incident’…

On the edge of the roof of the tallest building in the city, a figure was standing at the edge of the building like a superhero in a movie guarding his beloved city with no fear whatsoever that with just one step, he would plummet down a few hundred meters. This figure was in fact the heartless man who had stolen the auntie’s heart… Ahem ahem… the cool and unbelievably handsome man whom Fang Ran had seen at the station.

“Oh, there aren’t a lot of people this time… but that’s to be expected…”

He chuckled as he mumbled to himself, before turning his head around and saying with a smile,

“The two beautiful ladies, do you agree?”

Click, click, click

The sound of high-heeled boots tapping on the ground drew nearer from afar. Two paper talismans suddenly appeared and abruptly burst into flames, which then two figures walked out from the flames with their long wavy hair dancing in the night breeze. Their black clothes and trench coat revealed their identity.

Not taking into account the flying swords floating around them…

“It’s merely a D-grade Night Battle, why are you here?”

Ye Sheng looked at the young man with a complex expression and asked. Another sword energy condensed around her. The woman beside her also made a strange gesture with her fingers. The atmosphere seemed to reach an explosive peak!

“Under normal circumstances, of course I will not be here. But the reward this time is a little special…”

The young man in sunglasses smiled maliciously, as if he insinuating at something, then he said,

“So special that both of you have come here personally as well.”

“Sister Sheng, we…”

The beautiful woman beside Ye Sheng whispered as she looked in another direction, hinting to Ye Sheng with her gaze.

In that direction, there were all kinds of strange people wandering around. There was a boy who was hanging his large headphones around his neck which made for a perfect depiction of a famous student in a high school, a middle-aged gentlemen with a cane inlaid with diamonds, making him look like a high-class European noble from the last century, a young girl whose hands were sparking with lightning, a young man who could casually spit out flames, and all sorts of strange people, who all seemed to be coming towards this tallest building in the city.

Ye Sheng glanced at the young man in sunglasses, before turning away and leaving. She then said resolutely in a low voice,

“In this Night Battle, we have to win no matter what. No matter what happens later, we must use any means necessary to win and we must not hesitate for the kill!”

The two of them did not take the elevator, but instead walked straight to the edge of the building and directly jumped down. While in free fall, two swords instantly appeared beneath their feet. As they flew down, Ye Sheng took one final glance at the youth in sunglasses and said to the woman beside her,

“As for the others who turned up, we can settle scores with them later.”

The two women left. The young man in sunglasses was still standing in the same spot, as he closed his eyes.

“Ten.”

He began counting down in his mind. At the same time, all the ‘participants’ who had surrounded the building also started to count down.

At the entrance of the building, the young man wearing the large headphones glanced at his watch to verify the exact time, slowly opened his mouth.

“Nine.”

In the backstreet, the young girl whose hands were sparking with lightning, flashed a spry smile.

“Eight.”

Click! A pocket watch opened, the middle-aged gentleman looked at it and smiled warmly.

“Seven.”

In an office on a certain floor of a building, flames abruptly appeared on the hands of an unruly young man. He raised his right hand high to eye level, as if admiring the flame.

“Three.”

In the sky surrounding the building, two slender figures standing on swords hovered around. Looking at the brightly-lit building in the dark night, Ye Sheng muttered under her breath,

“Two.”

No one said ‘one’. At the last second, the system announcement resounded in the ears of all the participants!

[Ding! End of preparation time]

[Ding! D-grade Night Battle Scenario opened]

[Ding! All 11/11 participants have arrived at the designated location]

[Ding! D-grade Night Battle Sceenario, D-27 released]

[Ding! Night Battle…]

A series of system prompts pinged continuously, and the last sound resounded through the ears of each and every participant!

[…Starts]

In a split second, all the figures around the building set off!

“Save… Save… Save me… Save me! I’m going to die, I’m going to die…”

At this moment in time, Fang Ran was still running frantically on one of the streets. His eyes were listless and his expression was apathetic, like a person who had given up on seeking treatment. He cried for help as though he were simply reciting it.

He could barely run anymore, seriously, he could not run much longer. He did not even have the strength to curse, grumble or spout nonsense in his mind. At this point in time, if he was not supported by his conviction that the zombie would bite his a*s if he were to stop running, he would have stopped running a long time ago.

‘Why…’

‘Why am I being chased by a zombie?’

Suddenly, Fang Ran fell into deep thought. He was thinking about his life, the meaning of him being alive, where he came from, where he should go, who he was, why he was him and why he was not someone else.

He then applied mathematical induction, knowledge on economic management, together with Java programming techniques, as well as fresh soy sauce and dark soy sauce, and placed them in the rice cooker. After putting it through forty-nine procedures, he applied it to the ultimate problem of his life philosophy, and what he arrived at was…

‘Why the hell do I have to run down three streets like mad with a zombie in hot pursuit!!!’

‘This is not f*cking normal!’

‘Although I’m a little unlucky today, getting caught in the highest temperature on my way back, wanting to take the train but not bringing my wallet, and it seems like I didn’t bring my keys too… I’ve yet to pass my CET4 after taking it three times, I still don’t have a girlfriend, I’m still a virgin, who was confessed to by a male friend just a while back. In the first half of the year, I lost my money three times, missed my stop six times, got rejected seven times…’

‘F*ck, I suddenly feel a little sad…’

‘However, these are all not important!!!’

(An earnest loudly-denying-it-to-summon-my-enthusiasm-for-life expression)

‘No matter how unlucky I am again, I should have been back at my place by this time, drinking a cup of cold water and resting!’

‘Why am I getting chased down eight streets by a zombie?!

‘What? You’re saying I mentioned three streets…’

‘These details are not important.’

‘The important thing is that I am getting chased by a zombie right now!’

“Ah ah ah! Save me!!!”

Nearly getting bitten on the buttocks, Fang Ran regained his motivation once again. He ran straight ahead for dear life and along the way, he shouted for help at the top of his lungs once again.

“Eh! There’s a building in front, the layout inside should be very complicated. If I hide inside, I should be able to shake off that idiot behind me.”

Suddenly, Fang Ran’s eyes lit up and he accelerated even more, speeding towards that tallest building.

Just as Fang Ran was fervently thinking, “As long as I run inside that building…”

Boom!!!

The building collapsed, producing a loud, earth-shattering rumble. As if all the pillars were blown up by explosives at the same time, the tallest building collapsed in no time!

Can you imagine a huge building collapsing in front of you, the kind of sight with the sky falling and earth splitting?

Fang Ran was speechless.

Fang Ran, twenty years old. No bad track record, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink alcohol, doesn’t engage in male homosexual practices, a virgin, and the time he has been single is about the same as his age, yet to pass his CET4 after taking it three times, and was confessed to by a male friend the day before yesterday. At this moment, he once again felt that fate was unpredictable and unfair.

From this, he also learnt a valuable lesson to not set unrealistic goals.

Facing the skyscraper that was falling towards him and the zombie, Fang Ran felt like the sky was collapsing on him. In response to all these, was Fang Ran tenacious and unyielding roar and the sound of him never giving up, as he thundered,

“I have something that I mother f*cking have to say now!!!”
