Clank!

On a helipad of a high-rise building at night, two figures collided with each other. Their sword blades which were both glowing with a white sheen, clashed against each other!

Due to the ingeniousness of Su Qun’s chosen location, Fang Ran had no choice but to attack in a direct manner.

For the very first time, he felt pressured under his opponent’s blows. Su Qun’s Tang Dynasty sword was ferocious as well as swift. Had it not been for the power of [The Sword] providing him with the experience of an expert swordsman, he would have probably fell under the first blow.

To add on to his already precarious situation, Su Qun’s grade was much higher than his own. Luckily, with the speed stat of the Silver Split Dragontooth being doubled, Fang Ran could still put up a decent fight albeit with difficulty!

Compared to Fang Ran, the feeling Su Qun had was much more intense!

‘This person before me is very strange!’

‘Strange appearance, strange moves.’

‘Every one of his strikes doesn’t exude the pressure of an expert swordsman. Yet, that long silver sword makes my heart palpitate with fear.’

Furthermore, he did not know if his imagination was going wild, but he kept getting a feeling that his opponent’s sword swings were almost arbitrary. What was even weirder was that he had seen him displaying moves from 3D action games more than once.

With the long black coat fluttering in the wind, the long silver sword drew a semicircle up in the air.

The moves of the individual in front of him were exactly the same as those moves he had seen before in a game!

In fact, what Su Qun did not know was that before today, Fang Ran had not so much as came into contact with a sword. His only knowledge of swords came from the countless action games he had played before, and the enhancements provided by [The Sword] was based on the description of the magical effects.

It depended on the user’s heart.

In Fang Ran’s heart, there was no orthodox swordsmanship.

Therefore, at this moment, Su Qun’s state of mind was a mess as he faced off all sorts of signature moves from action masterpieces!

“You are not someone from this scenario!”

He used his sword to ward off Fang Ran’s sprint attack that was exactly the same as Dante’s move in Devil May Cry 3. If it weren’t for this black-clothed and black-haired person in front of him, he would have thought that that silver-haired Dante had traversed into reality!

He jumped one step back and shouted that at him,

“Who are you!? You dare to intervene in the special Night Battle scenario from the outside world?!”

SuvQun questioned him loudly as he clenched the Tang Dynasty sword in his hand tightly. In his mind, a horrifying thought came up in his mind!

‘No!’

‘Impossible!’

‘If he comes from the dark… That place, or is that A-grade… rank, no… If that was true, then everyone, including Si A, would have died in his hands right at the start.’

‘Could it be that he used other means to meddle in the Night Battle this time around?!’

Sadly, his opponent had absolutely no intention of replying. Instead, he retracted the blade that was piercing straight ahead and held it by the left side of his waist, parallel to the ground, before bending his body forward.

‘Damn it! Is it Iaido this time?’

Su Qun turned serious. He naturally recognised the Iaido moves. Rage filled his heart as he secretly made a decision!

“Qi Condensation Lock, open!”

White steam suddenly erupted from Su Qun’s body! It was as if an irritable steam engine had been filled with a mountain load of coal!

Fang Ran, who had been holding the sword in place, had no time to react. Su Qun’s body suddenly shifted forward. Fang Ran only had time to shield his face with the Silver Split Dragontooth, before he was slashed and sent flying off his feet!

Crash!

The impact of Su Qun’s blow caused the roof to crack into pieces. From the wind brought about by the sword slash, large blocks of concrete went straight after Fang Ran who was still flying in mid-air!

A single slash with the sword!

In mid-air, Fang Ran, who had painfully deflected the large blocks of concrete with his sword, mercilessly crashed onto the ground a few meters away!

“Cough… pfft!”

Blood trickled out from the corners of Fang Ran’s mouth, and his vision began to blur. Facing Su Qun who activated some sort of skill, Fang Ran was immediately struck and sent flying all of a sudden. Sure enough, in terms of hand-to-hand combat, there was still a disparity between them that could not be overcome with just the power from [The Sword].

‘My chest hurts, my wrists hurt, and my shoulders hurt.’

‘I never realized the taste of blood is so salty and fishy.’

‘Am I going to die today?’

Mustering his last ounce of strength, Fang Ran stood up. Looking at Su Qun who was slowly getting closer with each step, he panted laboriously.

Even with the powers conferred by the Night Battle, in areas that could not be strengthened by magic, he was still an ordinary person.

‘I know that.’

‘I’ve always known that I am just an ordinary person.’

‘Even if I turn ruthless, go mad, plan out all my schemes and be underhanded, in the end, I still won’t be able to defeat you so-called elites.’

“State your identity! Who on earth are you?!”

Su Qun ambled over step by step, his intense aura was spilling out and spreading outwards from the surface of his body.

Fang Ran’s left hand hung limply by his side. It seemed like his wrist had been dislocated from that crash just now. As he watched Su Qun walking over and heard his question, the scene of Si A’s death suddenly popped up in Fang Ran’s mind.

That handsome and unruly man who had a large gaping hole in his chest, still turned his head around and smiled peacefully at him.

‘Yes, I am just an ordinary person.’

Su Qun was already closing in. Just then, the spotlight from the lighthouse a distance away shifted to the helipad where the two of them were, illuminating them and casting their long shadows on the cracked ground.

‘But… I don’t want to die in the hands of you monsters who take the lives of others at will!’

“Ordinary people can go crazy too!!!”

Fang Ran let out a low hysterical growl. [The Shadow] card appeared in his hand, and he slammed it onto the ground! Immediately after, he stabbed the Silver Split Dragontooth straight down!

A magical cyclone suddenly rose up around Fang Ran’s position!

Black streaks rushed out from [The Shadow] card, assembling into a tall black cloaked figure behind Fang Ran!

The darkness under the cloak seemed to engulf the light!

“Wha…!”

This bizarre sight instantly stupefied Su Qun. He desperately raised his Tang Dynasty sword, intending to strike first and gain the upper hand!

However, he suddenly found that he could not move!

‘Why?’

His heart sank at once. However, his inner qualities of an elite soon emerged. He swiftly boosted his own physical stats, looking to break free of his restraints quicker!

However, just then, a figure appeared beside Su Qun. It was someone whom he would never forget for eternity and whom he had admired his entire life!

“Retreat, Su Qun, leave this to me,”

Ye Sheng had her sunglasses on as she turned to him and said this. Subconsciously, Su Qun nodded.

However, right after he nodded…

He suddenly felt a chill as he felt that something was amiss!

‘How can the person he has always admired possibly appear here out of the blue?!’

Just when he thought of that, the illusion disappeared, and the young man in the long black coat was there standing in front of him.

At that moment, Fang Ran held up the Silver Split Dragontooth. He did not have any fancy thoughts. Right now, his entire mind was filled with one thought,

‘Kill!’

‘Otherwise it’ll be me who dies!’

Before death, anyone would turn to their most crazed self. This statement was very clearly vividly reflected on Fang Ran.

The feeling he had when he had been driven to desperation by the zombie, surfaced once again, and the Silver Split Dragontooth swung down.

On the system interface, the displayed mana value was emptied in a split second!

A huge sword flash erupted!

“Cough… Could this be…”

A strange noise was heard from Su Qun’s throat. Looking at the sight before him, he remembered what he had just heard about this type of sword flash in the organisation yesterday.

In the near distance, Fang Ran looked at the collapsed Su Qun and remained still for a while, as his breathing gradually calmed down.

The system warning appeared before his eyes.

Mana value: 0

“Ha! Ha!… Ha!!! Ha!!!”

All of a sudden, Fang Ran lost all his strength and collapsed onto the ground like a released bowstring. His fear finally gushed out like the tide, and the Silver Split Dragontooth fell onto the ground by the side. Having lost the supply of mana, [The Shadow] and [The Illusion] also slowly disappeared.

On the helipad, only Fang Ran was left alone.

After some time, Fang Ran staggered to his feet. In his pathetic state, he picked up the Silver Split Dragontooth and staggered over to the elevator. He did not even have anymore courage to jump down from the roof, even if he was sure that [The Float] would catch him.

[Ding! This random special scenario has ended]

[Ding! Participants this time…]

Fang Ran ignored the series of prompts from the system.

‘I did it, Big Brother A.’

‘I helped you take revenge.’

‘Dad, mom.’

‘What should I do now?’

‘I…’

With trembling fingers, Fang Ran pressed the button to the lowest floor.

The will in his heart that had been supporting him in doing such crazy actions in the past few hours, seemed to have vanished with Su Qun’s death, turning him back to the same Fang Ran before Si A’s death.

Lost and frightened.

However, he forced himself to calm down and walked out of the high-rise building, as there was one more thing that he had to do.

Fortunately, the high-rise building was also in the city center, not far on foot from the street where it all began. Otherwise, Fang Ran did not know if his jelly-like legs could hold on till there.

It was very dark at night, and he took two hours to get there.

Following the map, Fang Ran slowly found the location of the street, like a vagrant travelling with trepidation in the desert.

When he passed by the scene where the fire pillar had erupted, Fang Ran feelings were in turmoil. However, he tried his best to calm down. Taking a deep breath, he headed towards the place where he had placed Si A’s corpse.

He was mentally prepared to face Si A’s corpse.

Pushing open the door of this jewelry store, Fang Ran entered this place once again with a heavy heart.

Slurp!

Suddenly, a bizarre noodle slurping noise sounded out of thin air!

Fang Ran was immediately startled but with Si A’s poor body in mind, he bravely took a step forward and walked into the store.

Only to see Si A sitting in front of the counter holding a bowl of Master Kang Fresh Shrimp and Fish Instant Noodles, as he slurped it. When Si A heard the door opening, he turned his head around in confusion. When he saw it was Fang Ran, he greeted cheerfully,

“Yo, Fang Ran! You’re here? Do you want to eat some noodles?”

This bizarre scene was happening in front of Fang Ran. The black-haired young man in the long black coat froze to the spot.

For some reason, he heaved a sigh of relief in his heart.

Then, he became the Fang Ran who loved to spout nonsense when he was nervous.

“Oh my God!!! There’s a ghost!!!”
