“Sigh… Forget it, go ahead and extract your power,” Ling said with a sigh.

“I can extract now? Is there anything more I should make sure of?” Fang Ran asked one last time.

“Nothing, extract it.”

Fang Ran didn’t know if he was imagining it, but he kept feeling like he was hearing an indifferent, none-of-my-business tone from his power bank.

“But you better think through it carefully. From what I know, these so-called Clow Cards aren’t all useful, right?” Ling nonchalantly threw him a question in reply.

Fang Ran immediately froze.

‘F*ck!’

That was really the f*cking case!

To be honest, as someone who had watched Cardcaptor Sakura when he was a child, up till now, Fang Ran still didn’t know what was the use of three specific cards, [The Flower], [The Bubbles] and [The Sweet].

Bang!

The magic book landed in Fang Ran’s hands with a bang, and Fang Ran gulped nervously.

There were a total of 52 Clow Cards.

Among the cards that controlled the four elements, there was [The Firey] and [The Earthy]. They fell under the power of the Sun, together with [The Light] card.

The cards that controlled the other two elements were [The Watery] and [The Windy]. These cards fell under the power of the Moon, together with [The Dark] card.

There were 46 other cards that fell under the control of the two supreme powers and the four elements.

Among these Clow Cards with fourteen double-card combinations and many single cards that were roughly divided into attack cards, magic spell cards, and unique cards, if Fang Ran wanted to extract a card that was useful and powerful…

It was not going to be easy.

“God bless me! God bless me!”

Fang Ran chanted incessantly. But in his heart, he kept praying, ‘That’s right!’

‘Just praying for that card!’

‘Model Worker Sister Windy!’

Floating by the side, Ling kept quiet, not disturbing his praying session. Before she had blindly walked into this hellhole of a situation, she had already briefly gathered information on Fang Ran’s ability. Unlike the origins of some powers that were very obscure, the ‘origin’ of Fang Ran’s powers was very clear.

It was from a magical girl anime called Cardcaptor Sakura.

Regarding this, Ling was not surprised. After all, the past her had already been shocked when she was up against someone who possessed the power of Devil Fruits.

But.

From the casual glimpse she took at that time, Ling knew that this was actually a very creepy power.

Although Ling herself was a maverick in her own right, at the end of the day, she was still part of the technology group through and through. Although she was not very clear about the type of powers in the mystery category, she did still find out some details about them.

Spell slot, psychological power, magic power, medium, sacrifice, magic circle, incantation, witchcraft… et cetera. As the Night Roaming Angel of the Darknet, she had naturally heard of all kinds of strange powers. She also knew those unorthodox methods used by those so-called wizards, magicians, warlocks, sages and arcane sorcerers.

It was true that for those people, playing with flames, summoning a demon, et cetera were not a big deal.

However, the ‘but’ here still has to be mentioned…

As far as Ling knew, no one in the mystery division had powers that could interfere with some extremely high-level elements, such as time and space.

But Ling was keenly aware that Fang Ran’s 52 cards seemed to be able to do that. Furthermore, he still had many cards that possessed unknown power.

‘There are also his best cards, [The Light] and [The Dark].’ Ling’s brows furrowed as she pondered, ‘What are the uses of those two cards?’

‘Flash power? Blinding power? Black magic?’

‘What about the fifty-third card, [The Nothing], that was mentioned in the data?’

Ling thought to herself. Temporarily burying all these doubts in her heart that she had for the time being, she then looked towards where Fang Ran was, who was seemingly done with his prayers, as he slowly reached his hand out for the magic book.

“I must chant properly this time! Come on out! I command you as your new master!”

“Model Worker Sister Windy!!!”

Fang Ran roared out loud!

Then, the magic book with the lock opened on its own, the golden pages of the book flipping page by page. Fang Ran’s large eyes, that were filled with expectation, stared at it fervently even though he had no idea what was written on it as he kept chanting,

“Wind! Wind! Wind!”

Then, the page stopped, as if the force that flipped it open had vanished, leaving only one page standing upright on the flat-open book.

Fang Ran suddenly fell silent, looking at it somewhat blankly.

“Of course… Really…” he whispered softly.

Ling found it a little strange. ‘What happened to this guy? Why is he behaving weirdly again? Same as the other night?’

However, before Ling could continue observing, Fang Ran quickly recovered. The vibes he had been giving off just a moment ago, had completely disappeared, as he stared intensely at the magic book!

“Sister Windy! It must be Sister Windy! The protagonist on TV had one of the four-element cards right off bat, the Sister Windy card that was like an omnipotent card!”

Fang Ran muttered aloud to himself. The next moment, out of the shining book page, a rectangular ray of light emerged. It was the same size as [The Sword] card, and was made of an unknown material.

The design and words on it gradually appeared.

[THE FLOAT]

[Symbolism: Liberation from shackles, freedom.]

[Introduction: It has the magic to enable people or things to float, and to move at high speed.]

Fang Ran, “Pfft!”

“Hey, that’s not bad. Liberation from shackles, freedom. Seems very powerful~”

Ling’s gloating tone of voice rang out.

Staring at the card on his hand, Fang Ran said nothing. Then, he roared ferociously inside his heart, because although he felt indignant, he dare not to lash at his power bank,

‘F*ck!’

‘Why!’

‘Is it this card!’

‘I remember that this card only appeared once in the anime and only transformed once.’

‘After that, it never appeared ever again!’

‘Besides, making people float and moving at high speed…’

He was speechless in his heart, but in reality, he still held onto this card properly, though the corners of his eyes kept twitching.

“F*ck! I still have another chance! I don’t believe that I will get another useless card!”

With fury overwhelming his thoughts, Fang Ran was about to extract another. But just when he placed his hand on the magic book, Ling leisurely floated to him and said lightly,

“I advise you to save at least one extraction chance~”

Rigidly freezing in his movement, Fang Ran asked Ling in bafflement, “Why?”

“Hmph! Do you think that there will be many opportunities to upgrade your power?” Ling’s voice sounded condescending and a little cold as she said, “For Night Battle participants to upgrade their powers, it is not as simple as you think.”

“Listen up carefully, it was just dumb luck that you obtained two chances to upgrade your powers.” Ling floated in front of him and said with an implied warning, “Don’t even imagine that you’ll be so lucky every single time.”

“Your luck is obviously terribly bad now. Saving a chance for yourself will at least give you some hope, just in case when in a desperate situation… Hehe~”

After which, Ling floated far away from him, leaving behind this ambiguous statement.

Fang Ran was left standing alone in the living room, struggling internally. In the end, he still slumped his shoulders, put down the magic book in his hands, and let out a long sigh.

The Silver Split Dragontooth in his hand, that was in the form of [The Sword] with its wings spread open, was still consuming his mana. Right now, looking at the card that he had extracted, Fang Ran fell into a daze. When Ling wasn’t paying any attention, he said in a low voice,

“Liberation from shackles is it…”
