But My Hubby Dotes on Me - Chapter 36

Looking outside from the restaurant’s window, the office’s lights could still be seen clearly. When he asked Secretary Wang to call, Auntie Hao said that she had not yet returned.

Not many people could get Qin Zhiyou drunk at a business dinner unless he chose to do so. When the lights from the office on the other side were turned off, he hurriedly finished up the discussion and ran downstairs, where he saw her.

——

The girl in his arms was curled up into a ball, like a newborn kitten. He knew that this was a sign of insecurity. Lu Weixi rubbed against him, as if she were a little cold. She tried to lean against Qin Zhiyou, closer and closer. He stared at her for a while, but held her tighter with his arms in the end. After pausing a little, he lowered his head, resting his chin on the top of her head and wrapping his legs around hers.

Lu Weixi, who was still immersed in her sleep, seemed a little uncomfortable, but after struggling and failing, she fell asleep again.

——

The alarming sound of the clock shocked Lu Weixi out of her sleep. She woke up groggily and found that she was lying in Qin Zhiyou’s arms with his arms wrapped tightly around her. If she looked up, she could see his stubble, and she was stuck in a tight lock in his arms.

But that was not the point. She looked up at the clock on the wall—sh*t! It’s eight!

She worked at a design firm. Even though her working hours were fairly flexible because of the nature of her occupation, she had never been late in all her years of work, not to mention that there was an important team meeting that she could not miss at ten.

Almost immediately, she broke out of Qin Zhiyou’s arms, but the latter, who was sleeping on the edge of the bed, fell to the ground, pulling the blanket along with him. Lu Weixi was stunned as Qin Zhiyou got up groggily, his hair a little messy, confused and more than a little upset. Lu Weixi immediately reached out a hand to help him up. “I’m sorry, it was an accident.”

Qin Zhiyou’s expression was grim. Her apology had no effect. Just as she was at a loss of what to do, the sound of a car came from outside. Lu Weixi pointed downstairs, as if it were her last hope. “Secretary Wang is here, he said he was going to pick you up.”

Qin Zhiyou paused, and even though his expression was gloomy, he did not say much and headed for the bathroom. Lu Weixi took the time to put on her pajamas, after which she sprinted back to her room, washed up and prepared her documents. When she reached the landing downstairs, Auntie Hao greeted her, “Young Madam, breakfast is already prepared, you…”

Lu Weixi shook her head. “No need, I’m not eating.”

She rushed outside the door and took her car keys out before she recalled that her car was still at the firm. Crap, she had to wait to leave with Qin Zhiyou.

When she looked back, Qin Zhiyou had just descended the stairs calmly. He headed straight for the dining room on the first floor, where Auntie Hao presented a sumptuous breakfast. He drank his porridge elegantly, while Secretary Wang reported on his work on the side.

Since there was no choice as she had to wait, Lu Weixi sat back in the seat. “I’ll have something to eat too.”

Auntie Hao quickly brought out some breakfast for her.

Even though Qin Zhiyou’s expression was calm, he was growing increasingly anxious as his consciousness cleared up.

Did he say anything wrong in his drunken stupor last night?
