“You can just send someone to the bar another day and ask them to charge it to my tab. You don’t have to make a trip there personally.”
Anhao smiled before replying, “How can I do that? The boss has always taken very good care of me. I quit my job all of a sudden without any notice given. I have to go there in person…”
“Don’t say anything else and copy your English textbook another five times.” Zuo Hancheng did not look at her and merely instructed her in a cold voice. Anhao stared at him in frustration because she knew that she had already lost. He was tormenting her!
Anhao walked back into the study room before she brought out the set of notes that she had already copied before throwing it directly at Zuo Hancheng.
Zuo Hancheng picked up the notes before looking at the English words that were written all over it. Even though she was complaining, Anhao had copied the notes in very beautiful handwriting. Zuo Hancheng looked up at Anhao and she was glaring at him as she stretched her hand out to show him her wrist. “I already copied the entire textbook once! I feel like my wrist is about to break and that this arm does not belong to me anymore! Please stop it! Just change the type of punishment you want to give me.”
Zuo Hancheng looked at Anhao as she continued complaining. “Look! My wrist is already swollen! If I really have to copy the textbook twenty times, my cheeks will not be the only swollen part of my body! By that time, my wrist, my spine and my shoulders would also be swollen too!”
Obviously, it was useless for Anhao to lose her temper in front of Zuo Hancheng. He glanced at her wrist before focusing on the handwritten notes in his hand.
Even though Anhao was very reluctant and she was not even paying any attention to the notes that she was copying, Zuo Hancheng was very impressed because her handwriting was very beautiful and neat.
At least this proved that she really tried her best to copy the textbook at least once. Otherwise, she would not gain any merit at all.
When Anhao saw that Zuo Hancheng was looking through the notes very meticulously, she could not help but stare at him as she asked, “Are you seriously going to go through each and every single word that I copied?”
Zuo Hancheng closed the notebook before he handed it over to her. “So, what kind of punishment do you want instead?”
Anhao could not stop herself from rolling her eyes at Zuo Hancheng. Initially, she thought that he would be soft-hearted and let her go after seeing that she had already copied the textbook in beautiful handwriting once. However, she did not expect him to be so cruel and inhumane!
Anhao glared at him as she grinded her teeth. However, Zuo Hancheng continued looking at her with an indifferent expression on his face. After that, he simply looked at her without saying anything else.
The both of them were staring at one another in silence. However, Anhao was no match for him and she had to look away. She took this opportunity to look around the room before she came up with an idea. “Will it help if I clean up the entire living room? I will make sure that I wipe the entire house with a rag and disinfectant. I will make sure that there is not one speck of dust in the entire living room.”
“Cleaning the house daily is what the people from the cleaning company are supposed to do. You don’t have to fight for a job with the cleaning lady.”
Anhao was very annoyed and she looked around the room once again. As soon as she saw the laptop on the table, she suddenly smiled before she said, “Or do you have any other documents that you need me to type out for you? I can sort out any documents for you and I can type all sorts of documents for you. Would you like me to do that for you instead?”
“I already have a secretary and personal assistant to do that for me and I am certain that they are a hundred times more professional than you. I don’t need you to key in any documents for me,” Zuo Hancheng replied in a lukewarm manner. “Furthermore, most of the documents for Shengling Group contain a lot of trade and commercial secrets. If you are not an employee of the company, there is absolutely no reason for me to allow you to touch those documents at all.”
At this point, Anhao was already starting to lose her temper. Therefore, she clenched her fists tightly together before she walked over to Zuo Hancheng, standing behind him. After that, she reached out her hands and started rubbing his shoulders vigorously. “Otherwise, I can also give you a massage every day!”
Zuo Hancheng was in pain as soon as she started pinching his shoulders, he quickly raised his hands to stop her. She was clearly trying to vent her anger on him in a discreet manner. “Are you secretly trying to kill me?”
Anhao shook his hands off before she replied, “It is obviously clear that you are the one who is trying to kill me instead!”
As soon as Zuo Hancheng heard Gu Anhao’s words, he knew that she was already on the verge of losing her temper.
Therefore, he ignored her and instead, he picked up the English textbook and her notebook and before he could even say anything, Anhao had already rushed forward to snatch the books away from his hand.
“Don’t ask me to copy any more textbooks! I can do anything other than copying textbooks! I can really do anything that you want,” Anhao replied before she suddenly paused and added, “And… and besides sacrificing my own body.”
Zuo Hancheng had an indifferent expression on his face as he turned around and squinted his eyes at Gu Anhao. “Don’t you think that you are the perverted one here?”
Anhao felt a little embarrassed because of his gaze as he lowered his head and started looking at her chest before looking at her body which was wrapped up in her conservative pyjamas. When he realized that he had already lost focus of the matter at hand, he smirked before he looked at Anhao once again.
Since this matter was caused because she was coveting the cash reward in the first place, then she should be able to resolve this problem using money!
Anhao quickly looked for the gold card that Zuo Hancheng had given her before she handed it over to him with a pious expression on her face. “Can we settle this matter if I return your gold card to you?”
Zuo Hancheng was surprised because he really did not expect Gu Anhao to say that. He really could not believe that she was actually willing to give up her only source of income just because she did not want to copy the textbook anymore.
“As far as I know, it has already been a long time since you touched any of the money that Gu Tianming has given you to pay for your tuition fees and living expenses. Moreover, you already quit your job at the bar. Are you sure that you are willing to hand your gold card over to me?” Zuo Hancheng asked as he raised his brow at her.
Anhao was of course very reluctant to do so!
She would never touch Gu Tianming’s money! The Gu family did not give her much money and all that he had given her was only sufficient to cover her tuition fees. Furthermore, Anhao was certain that she would not be able to go back and work at the bar because her boss would definitely not be willing to accept her again.
Even though she was very reluctant to admit that she had to depend on this gold card to sustain herself, she would rather survive on instant noodles than continue copying any more textbooks!
Zuo Hancheng did not hesitate to stretch out his hand to take the gold card from Anhao when she passed it to him.
However, when he touched the gold card and was about to take it away, he could feel that Anhao’s fingers were holding onto the gold card firmly.
Zuo Hancheng sneered before he asked, “Gu Anhao, weren’t you very confident when you said that you would return the gold card to me?”
Anhao did not want to lose to him and she quickly let go of the gold card as she watched him take the card before throwing it on the coffee table.
When Zuo Hancheng looked at her, she merely shrugged as she started muttering under her breath.
So, what if she did not have any money? All that she had to do was to stay in her bedroom and eat instant noodles for one month. He can take the gold card back if he wanted to because she would not starve to death!
“Since you are so sincere, and proactively offered to return my gold card to me, as your husband, it is impossible for me to watch you starve yourself.”
When Anhao heard his words, her eyes lit up a little. Zuo Hancheng’s lips curved into a smile as he continued speaking, “From today onwards, I will give you thirty yuan a day to cover your living expenses.”
“Thirty yuan?” Anhao was taken aback by his offer. “Nowadays, even the cheapest lunchbox with meat costs at least ten yuan each! If I were to eat three meals a day, I would not even have a single cent left!”
