Mo Nian took a step forward with the spear in her hand and stabbed a man who was still in shock. The spear passed through the man’s body and even in death, the man’s eyes were filled with disbelief.
“There’s an ambush! There’s an ambush!” The white-bearded man came back to his senses and shouted in horror when he saw Mo Nian and the rest.
The other armed mermaids also leaped out of the water, holding spears in their hands as they aimed at their respective targets.
However, some of the men reacted in time upon hearing the white-bearded man’s cries of warning and used their weapons to block off the mermaids’ attacks. There were others who did not react quickly enough.
These men were pierced by the mermaids’ spears and died.
From the start of the battle until now, the white-bearded man’s army had been reduced from more than 40 people to the current 20. Moreover, most of them were injured, while the mermaids had yet to suffer any losses. At most, it was just those arrows and gold coins that had been used up.
The white-bearded man and his gang were so frightened that they lost all intentions of attacking the island. All of them jumped into the sea in a hurry. This group of men had been in this line of work for more than ten years, and so were adept at swimming. In addition, they had no other option but to escape to the sea as their ship was completely destroyed by the water cannons of the mermaids.
“Captain! What should we do?” asked a man next to the white-bearded man, while he brandished his sword preparing to block off an attack.

All the remaining survivors swarmed around the white-bearded man. The well-armed mermaids encircled the men.
There were only about twenty people left, but Lei Xiu did not dare call for further firings of his water cannons, for fear of accidentally injuring Mo Nian and the rest.
“Sisters! The Island Master has ordered for them to be killed!” One of the mermaids shouted. She was Mo Nian.
Thus, the mermaids began their attacks. ‘Whitebeard’ and the others were agile in water, so they could easily dodge the spears even in the water.
However, having lived in the sea since they were young, the mermaids were far more familiar with the sea than any other human being. ‘Whitebeard’ and other men might have been agile, but the mermaids were even more so.
In the water, Mo Nian and the rest used their spears to attack the invaders. Whenever they were counterattacked by the men, they would use their shields to block off the attacks.
After a few rounds, the white-bearded man and his army were close to exhaustion. Since the mermaids were more used to moving about in water, they did not pant like the humans.

Just as he spoke, Mo Nian and the mermaids raised their spears and stabbed the remaining few people. The men were exhausted by now and were unable to defend themselves. The mermaids were just about to end the lives of their remaining invaders when a cannonball suddenly came shooting towards them from the sky above.
“Sisters, retreat!” Mo Nian was the first to react and shouted.
The cannonball charged towards Mo Nian with a great force. It exploded in the water, creating huge waves. Despite Mo Nian’s warning, two mermaids were hit by the energy explosion and vomited blood before fainting.
Mo Nian held onto the two unconscious mermaids and retreated quickly.
“Reinforcements are here! Hahahaha!” the white-bearded man announced upon seeing the retreating mermaids, and knew that his good friend had arrived.
Not far away, a ship entered the line of sight of Mo Nian and the white-bearded man. The white-bearded man and his remaining men boarded the ship.
“Jack! You’re finally here!” The white-bearded man said excitedly.
“Jesse! What’s wrong with you? Why are you in such a miserable state?” Jack asked, but his eyes were fixed on Mo Nian and the mermaids, his greed evident.
“Sigh, it’s hard to explain. It’s all because of these mermaids!” Jesse said gloomily.
“That’s not right. Aren’t mermaids not threatening?” Jack asked.
“I don’t know what’s going on either. Not only do these mermaids have excellent equipment, they also have cannons like ours,” Jesse said.
“Brothers! Fire!” Jack exclaimed in surprise as he gazed at Mermaid Island before him and gave orders.
With a loud boom, a cannonball flew towards Mermaid Island from Jack’s ship!

“Yes, Island Master!” Mo Nian said and began leading a few mermaids towards their ship.
