The four mermaids beside her were also shocked and listened attentively.

“That’s right! It’s the Song of the Merfolk!” one of the mermaids said happily.

“Yes!” another mermaid confirmed.

They had been searching for mermaids in various places for such a long time, but now they finally had a direction. How could they not be happy?

However, it was not the time to rejoice. The Song of the Merfolk meant that a mermaid was calling out for help!

“Sisters! Let’s go!” Mo Nian said anxiously. They could not allow their own kind to succumb to other creatures.

As fellow species, they were able to empathize with how difficult it was to survive here.

Mo Nian swiftly led her other four companions in the direction of the singing voice..

Tens of kilometers away, a school of mermaids were swimming rapidly at the bottom of the sea. Mo Yan, the mermaid leading the clan, did not say a word and had a cold expression on her face. Her fellow mermaids behind her were all uneasy, their faces filled with panic.

The adult mermaids had the underage mermaids be in the center, as they surrounded them in protection. The former all had injuries on their bodies. Some of the mermaids’ wounds would not stop bleeding, and blood was seeping out profusely from the corners of their mouths!

As they swam, some turned back for a glance, each one with eyes full of despair, and faces plastered with fear. They were dispirited, as if something was chasing after them.

“Chief! What should we do? We can’t shake them off!” one of the mermaids asked anxiously.

“That’s right, Chief! What should we do?” another mermaid chimed in.

All the mermaids began to chatter .

Some began to panic, while others wanted to leave the clan and escape on their own.

With this, the ones who insisted on splitting up and escaping began to argue with others who wanted to resist their enemy in unity.

The children started crying, their faces missing the smiles that children of their age were supposed to have. The parents comforted their children.

“Silence! What are you arguing about! We are facing a life-and-death situation right now! We should stick together! Don’t say those words again!”

Mo Yan ordered coldly as the arguments continued.

Instantly, the mermaids all fell silent and lowered their heads. Even the children stopped crying.

“Those Tiger Sharks could have caught up to us easily, but they didn’t. Instead, they kept trailing behind us. Clearly, what they wanted was to wear down our willpower so that we wouldn’t have any further strength to resist!”

“Therefore, the only solution we have now is to find other mermaids to help us! We must be united in times like this!” Mo Yan continued.

“Mo Qing! Have you continued on with the Song of the Merfolk?” Mo Yan turned to look at a mermaid behind her.

“Chief! Yes, I’ve been singing!” Mo Qing answered.

“We will definitely survive this crisis!” Mo Yan said loudly.

Everyone held onto their last hope, and continued to swim forward rapidly.

Behind them, a group of shark-like creatures were charging towards the mermaids aggressively. As they opened their bloodied mouths, their sharp teeth seemed to be able to tear through the flesh of any creature. These were the creatures who belonged to the top of the food chain, also known as the great predators of the sea in this region — the Razor Tiger Sharks!

“Big Brother! We are able to catch up with those mermaids and capture them, so why do we have to only stay close behind them?” one of the Razor Tiger Sharks asked doubtfully.

“This you don’t know. By trailing them, we can wear down their willpower. Moreover, they’ll lead us to more mermaids. Once their willpower is almost exhausted, we’ll be able to capture them easily!” the leading Razor Tiger Shark answered.

“Big Brother is truly wise!” replied the first shark respectfully.

“Alright, we have to keep an eye on them! Don’t miss any mermaids!” the leading Razor Tiger Shark continued.

“Yes!” The shiver of sharks behind him answered.

Hence, they pressed on, trailing behind the mermaids, ensuring that no mermaid escaped.

As the chase went on, the mermaids’ willpower began to wear down, as the sharks had expected.

Mo Nian on the other hand, were rushing at top speed towards the mermaids in danger.

“Sisters! It’s the smell of blood! We’re not far from them! Speed up!” Mo Nian announced, sensing the thick scent of blood in the sea.

The four mermaids behind her did not say a word, and followed closely behind.

Not long after, Mo Nian spotted the school of mermaids and the shiver of sharks behind them!

“Brothers! Let’s not wait any longer! Charge!” shouted the leading Tiger Shark.

He sped up towards the group of mermaids, with the rest following, all of them loudly snorting in laughter.

“Chief! What should we do? We haven’t received any reinforcements!” one of the mermaids asked anxiously when she saw the sharks swimming up towards them.

“Is this the will of the heavens?” Mo Yan muttered to herself. She did not pay attention to the questions but turned to see the shiver of sharks closing in upon them.

“Prepare for battle! Even if we’re no match for them, we’ll make them pay the price!” Mo Yan ordered.

Thus, the school of mermaids focused all their attention on the incoming sharks. There was no longer any despair on their faces. Instead, all of them pressed forward with indomitable will, awaiting the beginning of war.

Just as the mermaids were prepping up, Mo Nian and the rest rushed over in time, and stood in the way of the sharks.

This was not a cause for worry for the sharks, as they presumed Mo Nian to belong to the same clan. They did not slow down. On the other hand, Mo Yan and the rest were shocked to see the sudden appearance of Mo Nian and her companions. Their eyes began to fill with hope.

Mo Yan had expected a huge school of mermaids to come to their aid. However, upon seeing the five figures in front of them, all hope that had been reignited extinguished in an instant.

Mo Nian did not say a word. She raised the spear in her hand and stabbed towards the incoming Razor Tiger Shark. What surprised Mo Yan was that the seemingly indestructible body was so easily pierced through by the spear! The shark struggled and then died.

“What… What kind of weapon is this? It can actually slice through the body of the Razor Tiger Shark!” Mo Yan shouted in shock.

On the opposite side of the battlefield, the remaining sharks watched their companions being killed off so easily, and their expressions turned into that of fear. For a moment, none of them dared to advance.
