Becoming God With Spirits - Chapter 42

“No,” Zhou Kai replied resolutely.

Little Leopard Cat’s eyes widened. “You don’t wish to hear news about the evil anomalies?”

Zhou Kai looked at her sideways. “Any news you could have heard would most likely have spread everywhere. I can find a source outside and hear it either way. Hence, why would I need you to tell me in such a mysterious manner?”

Little Leopard Cat was speechless.

“Something happened to your classmates. Two of them died, and one of them went insane. That fierce spirit is definitely the mastermind.” Little Leopard Cat had no choice but to inform Zhou Kai after failing to take control of the conversation. However, she sounded delighted at the misfortune that had occurred.

She expressed her happiness about knowing that people who liked to commit suicide had died in the end.

Zhou Kai paused while eating, picked up his cell phone, and got ready to search for related news.

However, he quickly discovered that his classmates were discussing this matter in the group chat. He did not need to search the news.

After opening the group chat and scrolling through, Zhou Kai was stunned upon reading and gleaning some information.

A message revealed that Zhang Yingying and Wang Qing had died, while Shi Xueru had gone crazy.

Zhou Kai would not have paid much attention to this if only one of them had experienced misfortune. The fact that this involved a total of three classmates forced Zhou Kai to take this matter seriously.

He was not familiar with Zhang Yingying, but he had seen her a couple of times. She had been a chubby girl. Her cuteness level was unknown, but she had been quite delectable.

Wang Qing, on the other hand, was the girl he had rejected on the very first day he had encountered some spirits.

Shi Xueru was the girlfriend of his good friend Meng Hao.

What the heck? Why is it such a coincidence?

I actually know all those students’ fierce spirits, which the corpse spirit mentioned the other day and harmed.

Zhou Kai was so shocked that he could not speak.

However, he did not have any regrets.

No matter who they were, they had done things that would lead to their own deaths.

After a few moments of silence, Zhou Kai scrolled through the contact list and called Meng Hao.

“The number you are calling…”

Zhou Kai frowned and called another number. The call went through. After asking some questions, he hung up.

Zhou Kai put the cell phone away and stood up. “I’m full. You can continue eating.”

Little Leopard Cat hastily stood up as well. “I’m full too.”

Zhou Kai ignored her but walked out of the cafeteria with Little Leopard Cat following him.

He arrived in front of the BMW SUV in the courtyard.

The car belonged to him, and the key was inside. Back when he had graduated from high school, he had already learned how to drive. He had earned some money from his part-time job and had not known what to do with it. Therefore, he had followed the trend and learned how to drive, a skill that had become useful now.

After boarding the car, he familiarized himself with it. The BMW and the training car were different. He did not know how to use its functions. However, the BMW was an automatic vehicle, so he drove around the courtyard twice before speeding toward Anyang City.

He followed the GPS and arrived at the public hospital. After killing the engine, he sprinted to the ward.

Upon arriving on the third story, Zhou Kai immediately saw his good friend Meng Hao, who looked like he had lost his soul, sitting on a chair.

Meng Hao came from a wealthy family. He looked handsome, he was good at basketball, and he had a cheerful personality. Now, however, his face looked gaunt and his hair was a mess. There were even streaks of blood on his face, which made him look like a vagrant.

Zhou Kai walked over, looked at Meng Hao, and remained silent.

Meng Hao’s eyelids lifted slightly as he glanced at Zhou Kai expressionlessly. However, his eyes were filled with terror and confusion and his hands were trembling as though he couldn’t control them.

“I’m leaving to go overseas. My father helped me take care of the paperwork. I’m leaving this afternoon.” Meng Hao spoke suddenly with a hoarse voice, as though his throat was parched.

Zhou Kai said, “Is it because of Xueru?”

Meng Hao’s eyes looked terrified. His mouth opened, and he suddenly said dispiritedly, “You don’t know what I’ve experienced. You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you. They didn’t believe my words.”

“Spirits were involved, I’m assuming,” Zhou Kai drawled.

Meng Hao whipped his head toward Zhou Kai and looked at him in disbelief.

Zhou Kai continued. “Xueru and her two friends were playing some kind of game. For example, the Pen Spirit Game.”

Whoosh!

Meng Hao stood up and looked at Zhou Kai in shock. “You know. How did you…”

Zhou Kai said, “I know because other spirits told me. Also, this game has already killed quite a few people.”

He looked at Meng Hao and mocked him. “I thought digging your own grave was something foreigners liked to do. I didn’t expect that there would be such people in our country as well. There are so many fun things to do nowadays, yet people still want to play such an ancient evil game. Is it because the things we play now can no longer bring about sufficient excitement?”

Meng Hao was stunned.

This was completely unexpected. What he had experienced was something he could not believe himself, yet someone seemed to know about it in great detail. In addition, it was someone he knew. Someone he had considered an ordinary man. Was this world still the one he was familiar with?

His world view had been shattered, crushed, and pulverized.

“Tell me what happened then,” Zhou Kai said as he sat down beside Meng Hao.

Meng Hao paused, held in his burning curiosity, and started narrating what he had already repeated a few times.

Shi Xueru, who had been the leader of the three-woman team, had obtained a worn-out notebook and a blood-red pen from an unknown place. This was how the ancient game called Pen Spirit was played.

The Pen Spirit gameplay was recorded in the notebook in an exaggeratedly frightening manner, yet that was what attracted people the most in this ordinary world.

As expected, Shi Xueru had been drawn to it and sought her roommates out. Only the three of them had played, as one of her dorm mates was too timid. That girl had not dared to stay that night in the dorm room, choosing to head out and find her boyfriend instead.

That Pen Spirit game was different from ordinary games, as only females could play it. No males could be present.

Therefore, Shi Xueru had not informed Meng Hao.

However, she had not known that Meng Hao had wanted to create a romantic atmosphere for her. Therefore, he had gone to find Shi Xueru and had ended up hearing her screams instead.

He’d ignored the rules of the female dorm and rushed inside, where he had witnessed something unbelievable.

The entire room had been painted red. Zhang Yingying had been strangled by a bedsheet, her body hanging from the railings of the upper bunk bed. Meanwhile, Wang Qing was strangling herself, her eyes rolling to the back of her skull.

As for his girlfriend Shi Xueru, a terrifying thing had grown on her back.

It had messy hair, a pale face covered in scars, venomous eyes like a dead fish, and a toddler-sized body.

As it lay sprawled on Shi Xueru’s back, a black aura was emitted from it, causing Shi Xueru to scream in excruciating pain.

Meng Hao himself did not know where his courage came from, for he’d charged up and punched that monster. Unfortunately, he had hit Shi Xueru. The monster had disappeared, but Shi Xueru had gone crazy and ferociously attacked him.

She might have killed him if the screams had not attracted people over.

Thanks to their combined efforts, they had managed to subdue Shi Xueru and call the police.

After hearing about the whole situation, Zhou Kai looked at Little Leopard Cat.

Little Leopard Cat, who was ferociously licking a lollipop she had obtained god knows where, rolled her eyes upon sensing his gaze. “What are you looking at me for? I know nothing.”

“I’m allowing you to stay in my home because you tell me things I don’t know,” Zhou Kai said with an implied meaning behind his words.

Little Leopard Cat glared at him. “Didn’t you say that you would not chase me away because I’ve taught you a lot?”

“You can’t teach me anything else now.” Zhou Kai threatened her.

Little Leopard Cat was speechless.
