Apocalypse, I Can Modify Infinitely - Chapter 23

Sandra and Eileen were sitting on the bed. They saw Joan and Marina who followed Crowe into the bedroom. The girls felt that their energy had been replenished after they ate the chocolate. As Sandra and Eileen saw the three come in, the girls quickly stood up to welcome them. The girls were well-mannered and to sit down throughout an introduction would be considered rude.

“This is Joan and Marina. There is another person outside, his name is Sean.” Crowe briefly introduced his team to Sandra and Eileen.

“Hello, Joan. Hello, Marina.” They happily greeted.

“My name is Sandra.”, “My name is Eileen.” The girls introduced themselves.

“Sandra, Eileen, when we were in the faculty office, Alice spoke very highly about the both of you.” Marina smiled.

Joan was less talkative, she only nodded politely to Sandra and Eileen. After they chatted for a while, Marina had better social skills as an adult, and very soon, she was familiarized with the two girls.

“Crowe, are the bread and water brought here for Sandra and Eileen?” Marina questioned. Although these things were put together by the team, Crowe was their de facto leader and Marina was subconsciously asking for Crowe’s opinion.

“Yes, it is,” Crowe replied. He was glad that Marina asked for his opinion. Although Marina had agreed with him, he still needed the others’ approval and their trust in terms of making choices or taking action.

Marina took out a small piece of bread the size of a palm and a bottle of mineral water from her backpack and handed it to Sandra. At this time, Joan also took out bread and a bottle of water from her backpack and gave them to Eileen.

“Thank you.” The two girls gratefully thanked her. Although they both had a piece of chocolate, their hunger persisted.

“When you haven’t had any food for a long time you shouldn’t eat too much and too fast,” Marina advised the two girls softly.

“Okay.” Sandra and Eileen nodded. It was just an ordinary bun, but they were savoring it with great excitement. They even drank a mouthful of water from time to time. Joan, Marina, and Crowe sat on another empty bed in the room. The room became quiet except for the sound of Sandra and Eileen that chewed their bread and drank water. Crowe was worried about what would’ve happened next.

After a few minutes, Sandra and Eileen finished their food and there was still some water left. As the water was a rare resource, they couldn’t guarantee that Crowe would have an endless supply or that he would always be able to provide water to them. After all, they were still not sure the type of person Crowe was.

As for the consumables, Marina and Joan’s small bread wasn’t too filling but people who had starved for some time couldn’t eat in large quantities anyway. After they had their share of the small portions of bread, their stomach was only half-filled. There was already no bread left.

“What should we do next?” Joan asked Crowe.

“Next…” Crowe looked at Sandra who was sitting across from him. “During the time you hid in the dorm, did you see any other survivors?”

“No…Not that I’ve seen,” Sandra replied.

Sandra shook her head, “When the zombie outbreak first broke out in the school, Eileen and I stayed in the dorm. When we saw the chaos outside, we immediately hid in the room. The people we saw outside the window were all attacked by zombies, and then became one of them.”

“Not even one survivor?” Crowe disappointedly asked.

Crowe frowned slightly. He wanted to see if he could get any useful information from Sandra. Crowe couldn’t establish Bastille University as a new base with only this few people.

While it could be difficult, Crow was still able to think up some ideas that could be done because he could find and establish a new base within his proximity but it would take up an incredible amount of energy and time. In this way, his efforts would not be worth it.

“Wait… I remember seeing a large number of zombies in the cafeteria and the lecture hall.” Someone added.

Eileen suddenly added, “Crowe is looking for other survivors. This information might be useful.”

“The cafeteria and the lecture hall?” Crowe started to think.

The cafeteria had enough food and water, so the resources could be replenished within a short time. As for the lecture hall, Crowe knew nothing much of it. The lecture hall could host a larger number of people but the cafeteria and its supply was a better option, not only did the cafeteria have enough space to host more people but it also came with food and water.

Previously, Eileen also noticed the zombie attack in the lecture hall area was caused by the gathering of a large group of people. After careful consideration, Crowe decided to head to the cafeteria because it was a more strategic location and there are higher chances of survivors hiding there. It was also possible that the lecturers would have gathered the survivors there during the outbreak. Of course, Crowe didn’t want to assume that it was true. But with this information from Eileen, he was set on going to the cafeteria.

“The cafeteria stores a large amount of food and water and there will be a high chance that there will be survivors there. That would be our next destination.” Crowe proposed.

“I agree with you,” Joan said. She believed that her thoughts were in sync with Crowe at this point in time.

“I agree too.” Sandra also joined in without hesitation.

Crowe alone had defeated zombies from the first floor to the third floor. Besides, he did not sustain any injuries throughout the entire journey and Sandra knew for a fact that he was not an ordinary student. Apart from that, she saw Crowe rampaging through the horde of zombies with his armored vehicle prior to arriving at the female dormitory. Sandra knew that it was the right choice to tag along with someone who showed such skills and abilities.

Despite spending a short time together, Sandra could tell that Joan, the young student, and Marina, the lecturer also treated Crowe as the core member of the group. Throughout their journey, Crowe managed to earn their trust and respect. As for Sean, who Crowe had mentioned earlier, was also obviously an obedient member. He quietly waited for Crowe’s further instructions outside of the bedroom.

“I have no objections either.” Eileen could see what Sandra was thinking and she also agreed with her.

Based on the little information she had, Eileen had already established their future plans. She observed that Crowe was very skilled in combat and agile, and he had the intelligence to lead the group. All the others including Marina had naturally supported Crowe’s decision unconditionally. As for Sean who was guarding outside, he couldn’t even object even if he wanted to.

“Okay.” Crowe nodded and said, “Joan, hand me a bottle of water.”

“Oh. Here you go.” Joan took out an opened bottle of water from her bag. She had already drunk some of it, and there was still a little more than half left. Crowe took the bottle of water, he raised his eyebrows. As he was looking at the blushing Joan, she didn’t say anything. He twisted the bottle and took two sips. Then, he said to the others.

“You guys stay put for now. I’ll head upstairs and take care of the zombies on the remaining floors…” Crowe said adamantly..
