Ye Wei turned her head to look at Wu Peng. “I can see that you have extraordinary talent, but why do you always have to act in such a frivolous manner?”

Wu Peng slipped into a daze then rubbed the back of his head. “To think that you managed to see through my act. Your eyes sure are sharp, Captain Ye.”

Ye Wei saw that Wu Peng continued to put up an act but could not be bothered to continue talking to him. She pointed to the trench that was furthest away from the area and said, “I’ll give you a mission. Stand guard there. Fire your gun in the air if there’s something amiss.”

Wu Peng looked at the spot that Ye Wei pointed at. It was roughly 300 meters away from the station and was surrounded by a vast, empty plot of land. The enemy would never come from that direction.

“You sure have a warm heart despite your cold attitude, Captain Ye. You know that that’s the safest spot. I’ll accept your goodwill.” Wu Peng skipped over after he said his piece.

Ye Wei could not help but feel ashamed when Wu Peng exposed her intentions. Fortunately, her expression could not be seen clearly through her protective gear.

Wu Peng sat in the trench and took out his phone. He connected it to the camera of the Bird and started to scout the surrounding area.

The sun had set and the surrounding area was pitch dark.

There was only the sound of his breathing in the silent night.

The Bird patrolled a few rounds around the area and found nothing.

Wu Peng felt confused and thought, “Could it be that Viper had given up on taking action tonight?”

Perhaps they had come to scout the area during the day and did not want to engage in direct conflict with the law enforcers.

Wu Peng heaved a sigh of relief when he thought about that. The sigh was not for himself, but the team of law enforcers led by Ye Wei.

The members of Viper were obviously desperados who had gone through strict training.

Ye Wei’s team would suffer heavy casualties if they really were to fight.

After multiple days of interaction, Wu Peng did not want to see anyone on the team die.

Time passed slowly, and Wu Peng looked at the time on his phone to see that it was already one in the morning.

In theory, the time between one in the morning and three in the morning was the period where a person’s level of alertness was at its lowest and was the best time for an ambush.

However, there was still no movement around them.

Wu Peng expanded the scouting radius of the Bird and discovered that there were the ruins of a building one kilometer away.

The building had not been heavily damaged and still had its roof.

The Bird would not be able to detect anyone hiding within the building.

Wu Peng steered the Bird slowly toward the abandoned building before he flew the Bird into the building through a window and found five people hiding inside.

They sat in a circle and seemed to be conversing with each other. All of them were dressed in pure-black protective gear.

Judging from the look of their protective gear, they must have been enhanced with a bulletproof material.

Wu Peng pointed the Bird’s camera toward one of the people and magnified the image. He saw that the person hugged an assault rifle in his arms and had a ring of grenades strapped around his waist.

The Bird did not have any audio equipment and could not detect what they said.

The protective gear that the people wore also prevented Wu Peng from reading their lips and could not determine how the group would attack the station.

However, he thought that he only had two choices: retreat or attack.

Neither of these two choices was one that Wu Peng was willing to make.

“Should I notify Ye Wei now that I’ve spotted the enemy?” Wu Peng thought for a moment and decided not to notify her.

He wanted to meet the members of Viper and personally seek revenge for Qin Ming and the rest of his team while he was at it.

It was not too late for him to notify Ye Wei if he could not win against those men.

After he reached a decision, Wu Peng got out of the trench and glanced at the faraway Ye Wei and the rest of the law enforcers. He saw that they did not pay any attention to him and thus arched his back and charged toward the abandoned building.

Wu Peng took out his phone to have a look when he was 200 meters away from the ruins. He noticed that the enemy finished their discussion and had split up into two groups to take action.

“It’s disadvantageous for me to do battle with them in such a vast space. I have to barricade them within the building and engage in guerilla warfare.” Wu Peng quickly came up with his battle strategy.

He took the AK-47 off of his back and placed it behind a rock.

He had to be fast and stealthy if he wanted to win a battle where his enemies outnumbered him. The AK-47 was too loud.

He took out his M1911 and equipped its barrel with a silencer, and grabbed his dagger with his other hand.

“The enemy’s protective gear is bulletproof, but there are openings at their necks and other connective areas.” Wu Peng began to run through the battle that would happen in his head.

The enemy had split into two groups, one with three members and the other with two.

He had to attack the two-man group first.

He took out his phone and steered the Bird until he found the two-man group before he activated the automatic tracking function. This way, the Bird would automatically follow behind them.

He estimated the other party’s advancing speed and set up an ambush at a corner of the abandoned building.

The two-man group never expected to be ambushed while they were trying to ambush another group themselves.

The two-man group did not have any defenses. They quickly ran past the corner where Wu Peng was without even stopping to look at the side.

Wu Peng held his breath and pointed his gun toward the back of one of their necks. He pulled the trigger and immediately pierced his left hand holding the blade through the neck of the other person.

The two men could not even let out a cry before they slumped lifelessly onto the ground.

Wu Peng did not have the time to search and investigate their corpses. He maneuvered the Bird and found the three-man group.

It was much more troublesome to deal with three people. Additionally, Wu Peng wanted to capture one of them alive to obtain information.

He sneakily arrived behind the three-man group, completely oblivious to them.

Wu Peng was about to take action when he suddenly heard one of them say, “Draw the fire away from me later if we are unable to defeat the law enforcers. I’ll blow the station up!”

“These people are really trying to destroy the station.” Wu Peng determined that his guess was correct through the enemy’s conversation.

He continued to follow behind the group. He wanted to see if the three men would give him any other useful information. In the end, the person who spoke before suddenly stopped in his tracks. “Why can’t we connect with S4 and S5? S2, go and have a look!”

One of the men immediately turned around to look for the two-man group.

Wu Peng was following behind them. S2 saw that there was a person a few meters behind his group the moment he turned around.

“You…” S2 had just uttered a word when he felt something pierce into the back of his neck and lost consciousness.

The sound of S2 falling onto the ground alerted his partners. They immediately turned around and aimed their gun toward Wu Peng’s direction.

Wu Peng cursed his luck, but he immediately dodged to the side and into cover.

The members of Viper had come to ambush the law enforcers and did not dare to fire at will. They were afraid to alarm Ye Wei’s team so they slowly inched toward Wu Peng.

At this moment, Wu Peng had his eyes shut in thought.

He still wanted to capture one of the men alive.

However, these two people were on high alert. It was now much more difficult for him to capture one of them alive.

He needed an opportunity, even if it was just one second. He would be able to do it if the attention of the enemy got off him for a second.

He suddenly had a stroke of inspiration. Wu Peng sneakily took out his phone and steered the Bird above the enemy’s heads and made it dive into one of their heads.

That person had put all of his focus towards what was in front of him. Now that his head had been hit suddenly, he was startled even though it had not been very painful.

He could not stop himself from crying out in shock even though he had undergone strict training. “There’s something above us!”
